Jason's tip again, emergency shift on resource piles will NEVER result in deaths, but the second emergency shift will ALWAYS result in a death if it's on a building. The most efficient thing to do in all scenarios is to immediately call emergency shift on every resource pile you could, cause it's free (even the discontent is temporary).
Hullo Mr. Odd! Long time watcher, first time poster. I love this game and have nearly 1,300 hours of play time. I've run this scenario on extreme, best ending, zero deaths, with 7 days left on the clock (probably the best one can do; I haven't pulled off 8 days left yet). You are already learning that you need to get ahead and manage your precious resources, time being the most precious of all since it is being consumed at a constant rate regardless of your actions. Your strategy of rushing Engineer Automatons is on point, but don't ignore resource upgrades (i.e., steam steelworks, etc.) as you will need the resources to keep up with advanced research and automaton production, as well as meeting New Manchester's needs. One final consideration I will give you that most don't think of: Your open space is also a resource! Maxing out on wood? Lay down medical posts and pause construction. You will have "stored" wood without a resource depot (or the resources, including time, to construct one). You can do likewise with steel once steam hubs are researched. Just cancel the paused construction to recoup the resources at a 100% rebate. This will allow you to dedicate your resource depots to coal and food/rations. Good luck, Commander!
Looking forward to saving Manchester! One thing I'd say that should help you a lot this time is to make sure you have your people properly heated as a priority. When they're cold, they get sick, and it spirals into a labor shortage quickly.
At this point, you're totally hooked. I will say that the different scenarios do a pretty good job at just tweaking the parameters enough to be engaging, but I'm not sure if playing them back-to-back is the best way to enjoy them.
Remember, you only need ONE guy at the pub to get it's effect. Also, you'll never need more than one or two people at the Cookhouse with such a small population. Later, put an automaton on the cookhouse, because you will eventually need 2500 rations to successfully complete the mission.
Frostpunk 2 won't need priority system because it's gonna be more big society oriented. Thousands of people, you don't really see them like in this game, they live in districts and that's pretty much it. So if you build new districts they're gonna build in parallel.
I started replaying Frostpunk as well because of these playthroughs and was not disappointed. The Fall of Winterhome scenario was good and throws some unique problems at you I was not expecting.
So Overall a Much better start, you could have had the Workshop up and running by 10am day 1 and with Emergency shift 2 reseaches done before the 2nd night. But overall a good start. The reason you had an engineer die was you ran 2 workshops on overtime when you should only ever run 1 building on Emergency shift. the Big crutch on this scenario is Steal, you need 2 Steelworks up and running ASAP and you need to upgrade em ASAP. Heaters(Uses 1 coal per hr per building using heaters) are what are needed for the first temp drop, that way you can get to Steam Coal mines before you need Steam Hubs(uses 3 coal per building in range per steam hub so a minimum of 12 coal per hr for 4), Wall drill in the Long term is by far the best but in the early stages you NEED the sawmill, the wall drill is GREAT but won't provide enough wood on it's own until you can build the Tier 5 variant, the Tier 3 Steam wall drill is NOT worth bothering with as it only produces an extra 34 wood per day. As to the Workshops, there are 2 ways to go until you have Engineer Automatons 1)run 2 workshops with 1 ALWAYS on 24hr, or 4 and don't use emergency shifts, you can by all means run more than 4 once you have Automaton Engineers but each additional Workshop beyond 4 only provides an additional 10% research
Just so you know, I would not give the engineer the steam core, as all it gets you is the ability to employ automotons at medical facilities. Not anything huge, though, so don’t sweat it, just keep this in mind for future reference. Last I checked, there are 4 steam cores that can physically do nothing because everything is already maxed out and automated. Have a great rest of your day. P.S. the efficiency of automotons will rise by 5 percent even if you didn’t give him the steam core.
After watching Odd's last vid, I played this scenario on hard and saved new manchester. Even with the advanced knowledge from watching the last vid, that last request from new manchester was a struggle, and I finished with 100% discontent and some very cold homes. Also less than an hour left before the storm when all objectives were met. This scenario is much less forgiving than "A New Home", imo.
Snow pit is objectively the better choice over cemetery, as is Overcrowding over Extra Rations (with the possible exception laughably being this scenario).
i was reading some guides about the arks for myself too and apparently you can wait until very end and send all 3 supplies runs one after another so you dont waste automatons earlier until you absolutely have to. id guess 2 days before just to be safe since they take like a day to get to the new manchester?
When doing emergency shift on Workshops, the first one gives you 100% research rate. The second one gives you only 30% more. It's better to only have one workshop running during the night. Also, the first emergency shift is free. The second one results in a death. You then get the choice to give them food to prevent deaths.
NO you are not the masochist...to be honest I played thgrou all the scenarios (atleast) twice...usually loosing on first try...and it was mutch beter expirience. And I think I am going to play it again, after watching you 😀
u dont have to turn buildings off, when u dont use them... it's BUILD IN the game, that if there's no one in there, they wont use anything... PS: just 1 in the cook house, and 1 in the bar/whorehouse, will do just fine, so no need to take people in and out all the time...

Odd: First thing's first: overwork the people.
😂 Tyrant Odd is back!!! 🎉

Great start! Can’t wait to see how you get on going forward.

1 person in the cookhouse is enough until you need to produce a lot
Honestly I delayed cookhouses as much as I could and relied on scouts for food. Saves coal that way.

Heck yeah! So happy to get home from a meeting to have more! Thanks Chris. Loving the Frost Punk runs/scenarios.
"This is- I feel... Quite good. About... life. Currently."
Yes please. Save Manchester. I like my city 😅
What a difference! It is a joy to watch you manage the last percent out of those poor souls 😈
I like this idea, do a scenario and then run it back and try to do things optimally
I'm really enjoying this, thanks again ☺️
Nice Start! Let’s go crazy on automatons!
I love this series, PLEASE CONTINUE
Great start! I think you are doing a perfect job and I have no advice to offer.
Just a heads up for Manchester:
1 mech + 600 wood + 600 steel
2 mechs + 2000 foods
4 mechs + 6000 coal
so happy to see this, save Manchester, please !!!
If you didnt go back in and tried to save Manchester I would have cancelled your channel! Love the content!! Keep going Odd xx

Love it ! Good luck, man
Odd! Do you know about the temp overlay from the button on the top middle (the thermometer under the degrees) it helps a lot!
Loving this channel and looking forward to this. Maybe an automaton will squish someone again 😂

human resource is tight in this scenario as per last run, no one should be allowed to die.
So soon, hell yeah!!!
My first thought after seeing the title was..." Well did he?!"
Let`s see :)
This mode has 3 endings, you got one.
When you upgrade automatons to create engineers 🥶
Snow pit is objectively the better choice over cemetery, as is Overcrowding over Extra Rations (with the possible exception laughably being this scenario).
yeah this IS the one scenario where Extra Rations IS superior
you must really enjoy playing Frost Punk 😀
You'd probably like Ixion, it's pretty much this in space.
Kept it up mr odd
Save my home, Christopher - I know you can do it :)
The royal "we" lmfao.
Min-Max Odd has arrived......
i was reading some guides about the arks for myself too and apparently you can wait until very end and send all 3 supplies runs one after another so you dont waste automatons earlier until you absolutely have to. id guess 2 days before just to be safe since they take like a day to get to the new manchester?
fingers crossed! leave 1 person in public house this will help not to angry your city.
More FROSTPUNK Please
You don't need a generator running until it's -30, only for automation refuel.
When doing emergency shift on Workshops, the first one gives you 100% research rate. The second one gives you only 30% more. It's better to only have one workshop running during the night.
Also, the first emergency shift is free. The second one results in a death. You then get the choice to give them food to prevent deaths.
YES MOORE!
Not to be a back seat driver but maybe you should look into bunk houses as it’s an investment to make to save coal in the future
I just have to say, stockpile enough coal. ;)
The Third Objective is 8000 coal and 4 Automatons
Sucks that the Steam Hubs can't hit both of those Arks... Maybe someday, you'll research the range upgrade for Steam Hubs, Odd. Maybe someday...
NO you are not the masochist...to be honest I played thgrou all the scenarios (atleast) twice...usually loosing on first try...and it was mutch beter expirience.
And I think I am going to play it again, after watching you 😀
Someone get a football because its time for Manchester United!
PSA: OVERDRIVE DOESNT USE EXTRA COAL
Hey Odd, where does the forzen poop from the houses go?
High Priority better Steel and Coal production. Followed by Automaton Efficiency. As you go up tiers.
too short. i want more!
u dont have to turn buildings off, when u dont use them... it's BUILD IN the game, that if there's no one in there, they wont use anything... PS: just 1 in the cook house, and 1 in the bar/whorehouse, will do just fine, so no need to take people in and out all the time...
MANCHESTER UNITED WILL SURVIVE!!!
Are you paywalling content? I've subscribed and watched you for years. Not a good look.
you must really enjoy playing Frost Punk 😀
