The opening getaway scene was so simple and yet so beautifully executed...it was very emotional for me, no movie's opening scene has been able to give me that indiscernible feeling since Drive.
One of my favorite films of all time. And the best American made movie in the last 15 years. It will always take me to a time and place with its mastery over the film medium and brilliant visual storytelling (something so many recent movies don't know how to do). When the violence shows up, there's been proper build up and it sticks with you. Drive is going to live on as a classic cult film. We'll be seeing it at revival screenings for years to come.
Rj Thomas That would've ruined the movie. I liked it the way it was because it's the classic story in which the mysterious drifter saves the day and moves on to another place where he may be needed, turning him into an icon.
the beginning of this film is honestly so amazing. the whole movie has great cinematography and just the way the film is introduced really gives you LA vibes. the soundtrack is amazing too. this is truly a cinematic masterpiece done by the wonderful Nicholas winding refn
Nightcall...Gives me goosebumps...!! Well done Cliff Martinez... Orgasmic Track lol, I sometimes listen to it at night on a long drive home - Brilliant xx
I don't know if it's a trick of editing or multiple takes or even piping in the song on the set, but I really dig when the Driver is leaving his apartment and the timing of the light switch being turned off and the music is fantastic.
Still can't believe how underrated this movie is..... Guess that's what happens when you don't have a massive ad campaign, and a huge special effects budget, and instead focus on storytelling, dialogue, and character development. Not to mention some amazing cinematography. This is one of my favorite movies of the last 10 years.
I re-watched this movie since seeing it premiered just last night. This opening sequence is actually incredibly well done, in my opinion. The music and scene just blend together so well. Too bad this movie didn't exactly live up to the hype it received before its release.
It was promoted as a blockbuster when it's a niche neo-noir film along the same lines as Thief with James Caan. It's dirty, gritty, realistic, atmospheric, and a lost art form. This is a throwback movie to 80s noir meant to carry a nostalgic late 80s early 90s feel to it even though it's set more modern. Everybody expected Pulp Fiction because of the violence and music.
for me there was 0 hype, just some random, artsy/low-budget-looking movie i stumbled onto on Netflix when i couldn't find anything else that looked interesting. holy shit.
Absolutely epic film, the 'downtime' only adds to the storyline and characteristics of the driver (Ryan Gosling) - Cliff Martinez' sound track is superb too.... LOVE LOVE LOVE this film....!! Put Gosling on the map for me (even though he did 15 or so filmss before this - this is so far his best by a long shot) x
Wow, I checked you are right. Not so obvious though. It's like "Clubbed to Death" that is an (excellent) mix of many different tunes (from classical music to rap !).
Strange, it's the opposite with me. As a 21-year-old who's desperately in love with this film, I've found that many of my peers share my enthusiasm, while some of the older folks in my life don't hold it quite so highly.
Yeah, from the trailers I had no plans to see the film, until I found out that it was nothing like advertised, and was a genuinely great movie. I guess the studio thought that marketing it as an action filled heist flick, was going to sell more tickets.
This is one of the greatest films ever made.
im with you is a masterpiece
Best opening credits of all time.
More like Hotline Miami.
+Sev Evans Exactly!
For me it comes very close to the openings of A Clockwork Orange and Apocalypse Now
fuck this was a cool movie I'm overdue to watch it again
The opening getaway scene was so simple and yet so beautifully executed...it was very emotional for me, no movie's opening scene has been able to give me that indiscernible feeling since Drive.
same feeling I had for taxi driver

Rj Thomas I thought he did....must have forgot that bit
Rj Thomas That would've ruined the movie. I liked it the way it was because it's the classic story in which the mysterious drifter saves the day and moves on to another place where he may be needed, turning him into an icon.
Perfect leading lady as well.. You could see some sucker going through all that for her.. Great movie all the way around..
2:05 when he turns the lights off and the beat changes... just amazing!
One of the best intros to ever come out of a movie... Ever...
the beginning of this film is honestly so amazing. the whole movie has great cinematography and just the way the film is introduced really gives you LA vibes. the soundtrack is amazing too. this is truly a cinematic masterpiece done by the wonderful Nicholas winding refn

Best intro ever in my opinion. Kavinsky is a genius.
I'd thank Winding Refn, the director, more than Kavinsky.
Absolutely blown away by this movie, best tracks, best camera work, best story, best actors. Fakin best!
the first 10 seconds with the slow moving view over the city, with the perfect song to it, it is simply perfect.
Nightcall...Gives me goosebumps...!! Well done Cliff Martinez... Orgasmic Track lol, I sometimes listen to it at night on a long drive home - Brilliant xx

Johan Quiroz Exactly.
I went to see this 2X when it came out. That Established Shot of the city skyline took my breath away. Miss LA!
Some of the best opening credits ever.
I always want to listen to this song every time I'm driving around town late at night.
I don't know if it's a trick of editing or multiple takes or even piping in the song on the set, but I really dig when the Driver is leaving his apartment and the timing of the light switch being turned off and the music is fantastic.
This intro is so good.....Kavinsky is fantastic.

The entire soundtrack is awesome

Guys, do you remember how fucking good Albert Brooks was in this movie?
Great call. He was truly menacing.
Such a good movie.

Great movie. Real human bean with real human feels.
1:29 look at the bad parking of the car on the left of where he parks LOL.
!!!!Now that's an awesome combo!!!!
this track was produced by a french producer named Kavinsky. His style is influenced by 80's car movies. You should check him out
So well shot, so fucking good looking. Goddamn Refn.
You're a real human, Edriss. A real human bees.
This is PURE "Miami Vice."
adore this song
Pure class
That's actually really good. It held an 8.x for much of its theatre run.
I always drive at night listening thatt song :)
Filmaço e trilha sonora cool. Valeu pelo vídeo man!
This was the best part of the movie.
Amazing movie
Wow, I checked you are right. Not so obvious though.
It's like "Clubbed to Death" that is an (excellent) mix of many different tunes (from classical music to rap !).
top 5 best movies to watch baked.
The whole movie felt almost like "Vice City: The Movie: But in Los Santos (LA) instead of Vice City (Miami)", which is why I loved it so much~
Masterpiece
I watched this stoned and got creeped out. The lyrics hit me deep.
I'll never have a life like Driver, feels bad man.
Kavinsky is rediculously good
Brilliant
That would just be epic.
i have a 2011 impala. cruising to this.
Dope movie
This felt nearly like watching an 80s movie. It's unreal.
Gonna watch this again along with Heat in preparation for GTA V.
Strange, it's the opposite with me. As a 21-year-old who's desperately in love with this film, I've found that many of my peers share my enthusiasm, while some of the older folks in my life don't hold it quite so highly.
7.9/10 on IMDb. Who else thinks thats underrated as hell?
This is how the sequel to GTA Vice City should be!!!
Whoa whoa whoa.... Michael Mann's Miami Vice was awesome. I'd be very surprised to know that someone who enjoyed Drive disliked Miami Vice.
I'm under 25 with ADHD
This is one of my favorite movies of all time.
3d option, its next to the little grey wheel on the bottom, press it.
omg bronson sound track and drive fuck idk if the director choses the songs or who but great job
Glad you agree!!!
Ah darkness, my old friend.
Yeah, from the trailers I had no plans to see the film, until I found out that it was nothing like advertised, and was a genuinely great movie. I guess the studio thought that marketing it as an action filled heist flick, was going to sell more tickets.
I'll give it a look, thanks. :)
It's rumored that Kavinsky is gonna get it's own radio station in GTA V.
I guess it depends on your location... over here it's been quite popular even with the younger-than-20-years-old crowd.
wish i had money to drive all day
Im a driver, a true driver. So i enjoy it.
...they chose the best possible one.
yeah, have you not heard of human beans?? They are just like regular bean but taller (with more hair) lol ;o) x
2:06.5 tho
Makes me want to put on my pastel suit can grow a five-0 Clock shadow.
At the very least, I hope it supports custom soundtracks so I can cruise around to Kavinsky.
The gos!!!
