- A member of the establishment sympathizes with Irish Independence from Great Britain and attempts to recruit Tom whom he thinks is a Republican enemy if the crown.
I always liked Tom and Mary when they worked together. They really understood each other.
It’s a good thing that Mary ignored Tom telling her to stay uninvolved
The king thanked Tom later on, but in the next movie, I think it would be a good thing for the king to give Tom the title of Baron.
Knighthood would be enough
@@iparipaitegianiparipaitegi4643 Sir Tom Branson. :)
Does Lucy have title?
@@Windjammers1 well she is the daughter of the cousin of the Dowager Countess of Grantham and the Aunt of the current Earl of Grantham. She's probably got the title given to all aristocratic daughters of Lady something. Besides, Tom is Robert's son in law and he probably got a title when he married Sybil and his daughter Sybbie probably has a title of her own too, maybe "Lady Sybil Crawley-Branson" would be her full name
@@alaskacosplay I wish Tom could have gotten a title when he married Sybil, but he didn't. :( Sybbie is Lady Sybil Branson though.
I think the king could have knighted Tom. That's not a title that can be passed on to a son, but it would have been a nice "thank you."
I would have gotten a real kick out of it if Tom had been made a baron though. :)
@@Windjammers1 Either a knighthood or a baronet (Sir Tom Branson, 1st Baronet). If he and Lucy had a son he could have passed on the title to him.
Woowww Tom and Marry did a great job
Irishman saves king from assassination. The writers jump the shark.
3:50 - 4:34 "God Save The King" - the most solemn moment of the movie. Even more poignant today that the UK once again has a King as its sovereign, King Charles III - the great-grandson of King George V
... and about as suited to the 21 century as Robert´s idea of maidenly virtue.
Why on earth did they refer to that as a hussar regiment in the series, when it is obviously an artillery regiment? Did they think people wouldn't notice the cannon? 🙄
True, however at least one Hussar unit was converted to artillery retaining the Hussar title. Didn't they earlier in this film refer to it as the Yorkshire Yeomanry?
@@timbunker4529 It was very common in the early twentieth century for cavalry to be converted to armoured motorized units, and retain their original cavalry designations. Some modern-day examples examples are the Life Guards, The Blues and The Royals, and the Royal Lancers. In some cases, for ceremonial purposes, they retained their original cavalry uniforms and mounts. What might be confusing for a lay person is the Royal Horse Artillery wore dolmans (but no pelisse) and busbies very similar to hussars.
You recorded your TV... Was it hard then converting the VHS tape to a RUclips video?
Funny when crowd sang God Save the King the closed caption said God Save the Queen!!!
