I’m so sorry to hear this!! You were the first candle RUclipsr I followed. The information you give is priceless. Actually it does have a price! You are a great teacher. Write more books, teach more classes.
I've been making candles for years Jeff. 1997.. I loss my husband to colon cancer. It was your videos and positive outlook that kept me going. I just want to say thank you & continue those videos! You have no idea who you are helping.... Thanks again & know buddy. It will get better❤
This side of business needs to be shown more so that people know what to expect. Sales could be a struggle for months and that’s a mentally draining situation.
I live in the middle of the woods in Northern Michigan. I'm a 47 year old graduate student. We put every penny we had on this business. I am on 5 platforms, market, etc. - no sales. It's a horrible feeling but I keep hoping it will turn around if I keep making product and trying. We don't have anything left. I really feel what you're saying. Keep going...and keep going.
As a candle maker who had to step back for a bit to regroup, my heart is with you, my friend. Thank you for having the courage to film this, I feel this video so deep and needed to hear this more than you know. Please know that you’re not alone.🙏🏽❤️❤️❤️
Down times are opportunities to re-evaluate where we are at, what we are doing, and what adjustments do we need to make. Many years ago I had an antique business. I understood not every person walking through the door would be a customer for the antiques, so I offered other items. Gifts, candles (not my own), home decor, etc. Now I sell at our local farmers market. I am a maker (candles, soaps, other related items). But I am also an artist and creative soul. By offering a variety of handcrafted items, in addition to my soaps and candles, I have been able to sell more that I would have had I focused only on candles and soaps. This has been my experience. Do not be discouraged! Sometimes we just need to go back to the basics of the WHY we do what we do. We cannot be all things to all people... Jeff I have watched your content from time to time and it has been helpful. But please remember to give yourself some self care. If you have never listened to Jim Rohn's teaching, he has a line that says, "it's not the economy." The point he makes is that many people prosper during economic downturns. We just have to figure out how to win. Your a winner! You'll figure it out. God bless....
Jeff, hang in there man ive been watching your videos for years. We started making candles at around the same time i started in a church parking lot, to Etsy, my own website, pop up shows, now I rent a booth at a flea market every weekend and I was scared to death i would fail. Im a year in at the market now doing great but, I think I feel like what your describing once a month 😊 but i always push through and make it happen. What works for me is take a few days to yourself, don't think about the business, spend some time with your family/friends. Come back like a Lion refreshed. Believe it or not you've helped a lot of people me being one of them. Dude, your part of my success story every step of the way one of your videos helped me from one step to the next level. Ebb and flow. You've come so far in this industry and made a name for yourself. Remember, even when you feel beat up, if you're standing in a bad spot, KEEP MOVING forward. Set-backs are not failures. I'm in a rut right now and kind of moving in circles. The best thing that helped me to move through it was shut off the TV and immerse myself in Napoleon Hill and other motivational speakers. They get me off my a$$ and inspire me. I think it’s beautiful that you are expressing this. It’s good for all of us to see the ups and the downs with business. Your right it will pass and your moving forward that’s the most important thing. In the slow times it’s the perfect times to get the behind the scenes things done. Stuff that you don’t have busy time for when busy. Good luck
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for sharing your experiences. It deeply saddens me to learn that you've been going through challenging times. I want you to know that I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos and have gained immense knowledge from them. In these tough economic circumstances, it's understandable to feel overwhelmed, but I urge you not to lose hope. You possess the strength and determination to overcome these obstacles.
Candle BAE you are the SHIT! You've helped people save money (ME 🙋🏾♀️). You've opened so many doors. You've created doors for others, that you may never physically see or walk through. All of 100K plus subscribers are here for your content, no matter what that looks like. Sometimes creativity needs time and its own space to build. The absence of motivation to move can be many things. Sometimes we're waiting on a creative/intuitive signal that we're not consciously aware of. And waiting feels crippling because we're living in an age of 15 sec attention spans. At the end of the day... everything is everything and it will be as it should be. And like Pac said...you are appreciated 🙌🏾
Hey Jeff, I remember Katie, from Royalty Soaps, having this type of slump, she was honest with us and we encouraged her to take care of herself! You’ve got this! It happens to all of us, and you will come back stronger than ever! Thank you for being vulnerable my friend! You’ve got this! ♥️
Omg. Im so sad that you aren’t doing well right now. You’ll get through this one day at a time. I can tell with your edits that you are breaking down in between. Thank you for your transparency and vulnerability.
It's a tough market for a lot of people and I really want to show viewers that I am no different in all of this. It will pass and the growth back will be stronger. Thank you!
Thanks for your transparency and determination to push through & break the camel's back of the procrastination! Great Job! Also remember it's okay to set smaller goals at times when Full Steam ahead is too much for us and running at 1/2 or 3/4 Full Steam ahead is more comfortable & manageable for us. Smaller amounts of Progress are better than No amounts of Progress!
I needed this! I took a little break to work on my content and really focus on whats next. But I needed the break. I was feeling a little overwhelmed with life situations & getting things done for business. I even took a break from social media. I was looking at other peoples content feeling mine wasnt good enough. But like you said...I have to remember there is someone watching even if I dont know.
Thank you for finding the strength to create, edit, and post this video. This is incredibly important, as are the educational videos, to be honest. I send you much love and support, Jeff. Believe that things will get better. 🤗
Thank you for being so transparent and open. I have been a candle maker since 2004. So I fully understand exactly everything you stated in this video. From the ups and downs, lows to highs, the procrastination, the transitions & everything in between. You got this though. There is one thing that is absolute- things don’t stay the same. Change is always happening. Things will get better just keep doing what you can, when you can!
So sorry to hear this. You were one of the first people I watched on RUclips for candle making! I now make my candles as a hobby and gift giving as I found selling was just not feasible any more! I hope we still see you making videos as you are an inspiration to all of us!
Like my husband always tells me, “This too shall pass”. You are fabulous and you will get through all this mess you feel that you’re in right now. I’ve always appreciated your graciousness and generosity when sharing your knowledge.
It's perfectly fine to have those down times where you don't feel like doing anything, we aren't machines! You have been such an inspiration to so many people and even if you take some time off, nobody is going to forget about you even if you take a little break! We totally love you!
I think you’re awesome! I appreciate your content and your realniss, not a word but I’m gonna use it anyway. Thank you thank you thank you. I’ve never purchased one of your candles and plan on doing so. You, Erica, dude from black tie barn, and armitage are my absolute favorites.
I've been doing candles since 98. I trust God and know he will lead me wherever I need to go, he will also do the same for you. Just keep thinking and speaking positive. When the devil sneaks in to try to take it all away, speak the Blessings. I think sometimes the rough patches are to see how much we really want what he has given us. I've been following your channel for a long time. Keep doing you you're doing a great job.
I love your honesty!! I thought it was me, seeing things slow down... WOW This video is so helpful!!! Thank you. I have just discovered you recently and you are such a great teacher!! you tell it like it is and we need that!!!
Our business took a massive down turn around April last year. We just tried to ride it out, but it wasn't working and when the UK postal strikes hit in November and December 2022, it hit us hard. So we re-evaluated and have downsized and rebranded into a more streamlined product selection. Only time will tell if our choice was the right one. For now we're just riding out the storm, and waiting for calmer waters. So you do what you need to do to get through. Good luck to us all :)
Thank you for being human and honest. I definitely admit you have been an inspiration for my candle company venture and your content is meaningful to many of us. Let’s say good bye to toxic positivity and hello to authenticity!
Hey jeff, i stepped away from the candle business and actually got a job. Its sooo hard out there right now. Never give up and get on tictoc and record the behind the scenes. I dont know im jumping back in it because i love love making candles. Just take a mental day or week and just say fuck it. It is what it is and im going to push forward and have faith. I love you!!! Keep striving your my inspiration!!
It does feel pretty intense to be a entrepreneur right now. I appreciate your candidness about your struggles right now, keep showing up for yourself!!
Consistency is much more important. Here are some tips for anyone struggling with content creation: 1. Set a schedule for releasing content. Stick to it no matter what. You don't need to announce it. People will most likely watch whenever they want to unless you are doing Lives or chatting live during the premiere of a video. 2. If you are struggling to come up with a lot of content about a specific topic, just keep it short. Again, consistency is more important. You can always revisit and expand on a topic later. 3. Plan ahead. Having several videos completed and in the works will give you a buffer in case something unexpected comes up. 4. Take time to brainstorm and come up with ideas for future videos. We can get so busy with the mundane that it can take time to relax and get into a creative mindset. If you have a history of content, consider going back and reading comments for ideas on what topics your current followers would like to see more information on. Check out your "competitors" in the space and don't be afraid to borrow ideas while making the content your own. However, avoid the temptation to use the latest theme from another popular content creator, unless it's something newsworthy or related to current events and should be discussed immediately. 5. Focus on the positive and avoid the negative. Apologizing for not putting out good enough or not enough content, using video titles that have a negative connotation, or relating a negative experience can all sometimes be appropriate, but they shouldn't be what viewers expect to see when you release a new video, and see if you can even take negative experiences and highlight the lesson learned or light at the end of the tunnel rather than featuring the negative aspects or using click-baitish negative video titles. A consistent approach to your content creation will not only help you develop your own voice or style when covering common topics, but it will also build trust with your watchers and customer base while giving more opportunity for getting feedback.
Thank you for sharing and being SOOO transparent. I’ve been following you since I started my candle journey; watching and learning from you. Stay encouraged and know that we know YOU GOT THIS 💯your testimony is only making us better 😘
Thank you for sharing Stanley. I have not been watching lately, so I dint know what was going on. Congratulations on the NEW move and I will be here to see you continue excelling. I am enjoying the A27 wax as I have increased making wax melts. Sending good vibes!
You have inspired me so much and given me so much information on being a candle marker. I'm struggling myself with everything from being a candle marker, having a bbq mobile business to running a restaurant and being a teacher😭 I'm praying for us all🙏🏾
Hits close to home thank you for sharing. I thought there was something I was not doing for my sales to come to a hault. I did not want to make candles to just sit looking at them. Im now up and going to turn on my melting pot and get content.
Thank you so much for posting this. Exactly what I needed to hear. The struggle is real right now. Instead of licking my wounds, I need to focus on moving forward.
Thank you for your transparency and for all you do to help this community. I am still new, procrastinating somewhat as well, but as an entrepreneur, for sure these down turns won't last. Keep pushing Friend and congratulations on your marriage!
There is something Scammy about all the artificial positivity and selective presentation of reality in many of the youtubers in this niche. Your authenticity is important, it heals the conversation. Thank you and may you see better days 🙏💙
You are such an inspiration. You have a huge following, you have a great business and provide invaluable information to those of us learning. Give yourself some grace. You’ll get back to your full potential in no time.
Definitely hearing you and watching and feeling the same way and this just motivated me so I hope you can feel motivation from your viewers. Take care of yourself and thank you.
Thanks for the video Jeff. I think so many of us are feeling this way. I have seen a lot of people selling their businesses in a detash group I am in and it’s sad. I have been making candles since 2016 and I think this is by far my slowest year. I keep hoping that the economy will turn around and the prices of everything don’t continue to increase along with the shipping so trying to stay positive for sure. I also think a lot of the consumers are hurting. As you said this slow period will pass and we will rise above and sometimes we just need to sit back, reflect and refocus before we move forward. Thanks for all your content and hope you find the strength and determination to continue!
Hang in there! I've been trying to ramp up my actions on social media and it IS hard sometimes :( I've been told to record literally everything that you do because it can always be used as content later on, but I cannot even really record anything right now and have adjusted to taking pictures instead. Yesterday I posted the progress I've made in event set ups from last July and last week... But you are such an inspiration and I have faith that you'll get through all of this and bounce back better than ever.
Thank you for sharing. I was in tears the other day thinking about the money invested and how hard it is to get follows on social media, creating content, the market, etc. I’m feeling like I want to quit. Literally told my oldest daughter after 5 years of this I might be done. It’s tough.
I completely understand how you feel and I would tell you right now scale it back to his minimum as you can just to keep it going because this will come back up and it will get much easier. Definitely don’t take on more expensive and or debt then need it right now. 🙂❤️
I don’t know what to comment Jeff except to say thank you for being raw, for being vulnerable, and for being as human as the rest of us. I know you’re stressed and have business matters on your mind, but try to take a walk or just get out in nature. It will help improve your mental health so much. 🤗💕
You’re freaking awesome! I love your transparency. We’re all humans and sometimes we fall short. The fact that you’re still pushing is what separates the weak from the strong. It’s not easy everyday but everyday it gets easier 🙏🏽🧘🏽♀️🫶🏽
Mr. Stanley you were one of the RUclipsrs when I started making candles, but I have not made any candles, because right now, my life is like all over the place and it’s only for a season and like the saying goes one door closes another one opens maybe you just need time out I know that I haven’t post much on your channel because my life is just been all over the place lol it’s going to be OK and you know that maybe take some time out to renew your mind.
The economy is terrible right now. Everyone is cutting back . But keep up with your sales. I am waiting for your restock in clamshells. You can limit content. Your fans are very understanding.
I sure do understand. We are going from products we want to products we need. People are more discretionary in what they spend their money on. Thank you for your honesty and we wish you the very best. Stay strong.
Standley gets to be human. You do so much for us and yourself. You are already pushing through by modeling for us real truth and what struggling looks like.
Im sorry to hear that. I truly learned alot from you. I know alot have slowed down or closed. Business is not easy. I closed my business and decided to focus on other goals during this economy. I also wanted to make health (mental and physical a priority), so if I come back to candle making, I will be at my best.
getting started (again or for the first time) is one of the hardest parts imo. when i find myself taking too much time off, its hard to get back going again. remember to give yourself some grace-this stuff is tough👏 sending you good vibes!
Wow, sorry to hear about this Jeff. You know what you could try that would probably work out is having your daughter do all the content. These times we are in now are for the younger generation with all their instagrams and other social media that will work better because she is in their age group. I myself have completely stopped the candle business. Its too hard to compete with all the new Pandemic chandlers that are putting out unsafe candles to all their friends and instagram followers. Hopefully it will turn around.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I'm in a different market, (yarn) and a different country, (Chile), but I can relate to everything you are saying. Thanks.
You got this! We LOVE your channel and will always watch, as soon as we get that notification! Also, I see this as a sign for myself. Thank you for sharing your current, TEMPORARY situation❤
I'm in Washington State. I definitely stay away from self sabotage. I know what to do to get it all back and I keep that train moving forward even if its slow some days. :D
Stanley …take a few days to step back. You have a lot going on. Mentally it’s so much. You got this..one day at a time! Focus on what needs to really get done in your life. Closing and relocating anything in your life is HUGE! Wishing you the best .
I think you've made yourself such an expert in your field you could have one or two hours a day where you take zooms - $60 for 60 minutes or something, and just let people ask you advise on candle making, business, etc. Just another idea :)

Hey Jeff!! A candlier here - thank you for being transparent. Keeping you uplifted in my thoughts!
Stopping by to send some encouragement!! Hang in there the best is yet to come
Hey Jeff, I remember Katie, from Royalty Soaps, having this type of slump, she was honest with us and we encouraged her to take care of herself!
Thank you!
Thank you for this; I'm not alone! It will pass.
Hang in there sir your content is always great and I’ve learned so much from your videos 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you so much and all things pass with time. Things will be on the rise for everyone soon. Time to get on the grind. 😁
I totally get it. I struggle daily. I appreciate you very much. This is true life.
I feel you, i nearly gave up, i went off social media, too. Its only been the last few months, that i came back & you inspired me to keep going.😊
thanks for this. it's good to hear the reality of this business.
I’m sorry to see you struggling with this. Don’t worry just give yourself grace. We all understand and you will get through this.
We totally love you!
thanks for this... hang in there man, Life is rough and I totally felt this ...but don't stop 5 mins before your miracle! Stay blessed
I think you’re awesome! I appreciate your content and your realniss, not a word but I’m gonna use it anyway. Thank you thank you thank you. I’ve never purchased one of your candles and plan on doing so. You, Erica, dude from black tie barn, and armitage are my absolute favorites.
Thank you so much! That’s very nice. 😁
Thank you so much and keep your head up as well. :)
I love your honesty!! I thought it was me, seeing things slow down... WOW
This video is so helpful!!! Thank you. I have just discovered you recently and you are such a great teacher!! you tell it like it is and we need that!!!
Hey keep going motivation is up and down and sometimes it ok to go through the motion. Good times are coming back!!
I started making candles from your channel. Hang in there!
Here are some tips for anyone struggling with content creation:
This video shows it's a common thing everyone go through and rely, it also motivates to keep focusing. Great one, thanks so much!!!! ❤
Thank you for sharing and being SOOO transparent. I’ve been following you since I started my candle journey; watching and learning from you. Stay encouraged and know that we know YOU GOT THIS 💯your testimony is only making us better 😘
Hang in there! This is a temporary feeling. Push through! You got this!
I'm struggling myself with everything from being a candle marker, having a bbq mobile business to running a restaurant and being a teacher😭 I'm praying for us all🙏🏾
Keep that hustle going! It will absolutely make a turn soon and you’ll be glad you did.
Hits close to home thank you for sharing. I thought there was something I was not doing for my sales to come to a hault. I did not want to make candles to just sit looking at them. Im now up and going to turn on my melting pot and get content.
Keep your head! You are by far a "goat". I've learned so much from you. Things are difficult for me as well. But this too shall pass! 🙏
Thank you!
Glad you pushed through to make a video. Making content is a struggle especially if your not making candles every day.
Thank you so much for posting this. Exactly what I needed to hear. The struggle is real right now. Instead of licking my wounds, I need to focus on moving forward.
I’m struggling to! It’s getting harder to run a small business these days🤔😡I may take a break but I doubt I will, keep your chin up!
It’s very tough, the sales drop I’ve seen across the groups for every maker has been steep and frustrating. 🙂
Damn utilities are skyrocketing everywhere! No spare change for anyone
Thank you for your transparency and for all you do to help this community. I am still new, procrastinating somewhat as well, but as an entrepreneur, for sure these down turns won't last. Keep pushing Friend and congratulations on your marriage!
Thank you so much
There is something Scammy about all the artificial positivity and selective presentation of reality in many of the youtubers in this niche.
Iam so sorry you are not doing well😔.sending lots of love
It will pass, many blessings on your way.
Thank you and you are exactly right! Record everything and keep pushing forward. :)
Its definitely rough right now, but I refuse to give up!
Hi Standley dont be too hard on yourself take it easy I haven't made content in a long while
Standley gets to be human.
The world is going through some very deep changes, hold on tight and don't lose faith,
getting started (again or for the first time) is one of the hardest parts imo. when i find myself taking too much time off, its hard to get back going again. remember to give yourself some grace-this stuff is tough👏 sending you good vibes!
Thank you! :)
I'd love to have her help but she's a full time college student now and her focus is 100% there. :)
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I'm in a different market, (yarn) and a different country, (Chile), but I can relate to everything you are saying. Thanks.
You got this! We LOVE your channel and will always watch, as soon as we get that notification! Also, I see this as a sign for myself. Thank you for sharing your current, TEMPORARY situation❤
watch out for self sabotage, dont over think it. love you brother. are you in Toronto
Thank you so much and I am definitely taking time back when I need it. I try not to let the stress of it all build too much without stepping aside.
Hang in there Jeff. Nothing wrong with being human like the rest of us.
Yep we are all there. Mother day gift sales $70😢. We just all have to hang in there. Take it one day at a time
great video. its terrible in Australia for sales and many busiensses are down 60% or more. it will change but its the product industry i guess.
I think you've made yourself such an expert in your field you could have one or two hours a day where you take zooms - $60 for 60 minutes or something, and just let people ask you advise on candle making, business, etc. Just another idea :)
I just had THE BEST idea!! Remix Slim Shady to something candle related…”I made this!” Huh? “I made this!” Who? … you get the idea. Viral!
