New 2023 Ford F250 Super Duty Lariat Ultimate Tremor with 7.3 Godzilla V8 Review and Mods

- Taking a look at my brand new 2023 Antimatter Blue F250 SuperDuty Lariat Tremor. This truck has the 7.3 Godzilla V8 instead of the 6.7 HO Powerstroke diesel. It has the sunroof, 5th wheel/gooseneck prep package, as well as a few simple mods I have already done.
MSRP on this truck was just under $78,000.
I have added a tri-fold bedcover, spray in bedliner, @MBRPexhaust-TV 4” stainless exhaust, and a few other small additions.
Take a look, ask a question, and please hit that like and follow button!
I haven't found a good way to post the spreadsheet I came up with. But let me know how you want it and I'll send it to you.
Between how it came and the additions you’ve added that truck is sick. Congratulations!
Thanks! Just got back from a trip to the beach in it. 650 miles round trip and the truck did outstanding.
Nice truck brother. It’s hard for guys like to always think we should not buy something this expensive or that we don’t deserve it. It’s probably a good way to go through life but if you can afford it, enjoy it.
I just bought the same exact truck with same options and but in grey/chrome. Now I’ll be able to safely tow my heavy trailers that my 1500 did not do very well.
One thing I plan on doing at the first 1000 miles is to change the oil and then I’ll stick with 5000mi oil changes with full synthetic mobile 1. Just peace of mind getting the break in oil out of there just as I would on a plane.
Happy new year and enjoy that awesome vehicle.
Has a gas cap and shifter on the column because its a real truck 😂
Then it should also have a bench seat... 😂
And shouldn’t have a sunroof!!!🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️👎
@@funandfunction9116 ...and a single cab
Don’t understand why they don’t put cab lights on them to me cab lights make a three-quarter ton or 1 ton truck but that’s just me beautiful truck
@@Chris-yi6zr it’s saving that $.10 per unit! The 2023 I just picked up doesn’t have a light under the hood, of course if you’ve seen the 6.7 what the hell am I gonna work on!??🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤣
I agree about the electronics. I have the Lariat Ultimate and it really irritates me that you can't set the display to remember what screen it was on. It's irritating to have to go through every time and set it to display the page you want. Come on Ford! I hope this gets fixed via a firmware update like yesterday. I love everything else.
Same. Same. Come on Ford.
7.3 is a great engine -- great choice -- looks sweet
Thank you. Really enjoying it.
Most farmers that are near me have lots of dust that gets in the fuel system with the cap less fuel system . I think your going to like that 4 spring plus overload rear and the 14 bolt Dana rear . Same as F350 -
Correct
Wow! Congratulations. Awesome truck! I'm with you regarding the diesel, hard to justify. That 7.3 V8 will be just fine!
Absolutely love driving it. And this exhaust just keeps sounding better and better.
congrats. we just got our f250 lariat in the rapid red. we love it and can't wait to pull our camper. God bless
Thank you. He has blessed us beyond measure....
Shifter on the column is where it should be. So happy they didn’t waste valuable space by putting it down where you prefer it.
Thanks for your opinion on it. I actually prefer having a bench seat up front. To me, it's far worse to force me to get a console in this configuration to where I can't carry the extra passenger. There's plenty of storage in thris truck without taking away a seat. If I'm forced to have a console taking up all of that space, then I see no issues also having a console shifter. 😉
Correct
Thanks! Now I have to keep this in mind for a newer truck.
Love my 2017 6.7L lariat ultimate. I don't mind the little extra maintenance that comes with the diesel. Do both fuel filters every oil change "5k miles". Cheep insurance for the lousy cp4 pump design. But I do all my own maintenance on all my vehicles and my wife vehicle. I don't trust anyone working on my vehicles where I live. And not a single issue with any of our vehicles being the work gets done right. And the truck has treated me very well for many years now. Love the 6 speed 6r140 it's a tank of a transmission and love the 6.7L with my banks derringer tuner and pedal monster. Gas milage has never been a concern with me also. Leveled on 37's as well. Last time I checked it was 12mpg if I remember correctly. People who complain about mpg in a super duty or any high dollar vehicle are a special kind of stupid. If you have the money for any expensive vehicle you should have the money for the gas it requires and if not you can't afford the vehicle in the first place. Simple as that. But I love all the chrome on your new truck. I know a lot of folks these days don't like it and rather have a fully loaded truck look like a base model xl trim on the outside. I don't get it and it's not my style at all. But love the chrome on the 23's. After seeing trucks like yours the 23's are finally growing on me pretty quick. It's just crazy what everything is going for now! Your tremor gasser cost more than my almost fully loaded lariat ultimate did brand new. Just don't have the 360 cam and adaptive cruise control and that's it. Prices are just out of control. Anyways what an absolutely beautiful truck sir. Congulations! Hope she gives you many years of reliable service!
Nice to know there's still people like you who buys gassers, I have a 2024 XLT Tremor F-250 on order same color too but baja interior instead. I can only justify a diesel if I'm constantly towing over 10,000 lbs up elevation which I don't and for the price of a diesel I won't see that return of investment until maybe after 10-15 years with how I will be using my truck.
Exactly.
I picked up a custom made, 150 tremor black widow version of this truck today. It has all of the bells and whistles as yours. But better fuel mileage. I did wanted this in a 250 version though. Oh well. I wanted a diesel version but I can’t justify the high maintenance cost. Mines is brand new so I shouldn’t worry about repairs anytime soon. You have a badass truck right there.
Thanks. Sounds like you have a beauty also. I loved the 150’s I had but needed the additional towing abilities of the 3/4 ton.
It's a Ford you're always gunna worry about repairs. Good luck!
@@dougwarren5471 my wife and I traded in the f150 for a f350 due to the fact that we can’t do any real work with it if we have to use it for work purposes. As far as the truck goes… it’s been great to us. We had the f350 for 4 months now and we are happy with it. We bought it brand new and we will replace it 5-6 years down the road. We won’t have to worry about repairs anytime soon because this is a work truck and we aren’t even using it for work lol. I was horse beating it during the four months that I owned it lol. This truck going to last for a while :). I will trade it in for a 2500/3500 GMC when I’m ready
Shifter on the column is one of the things I love most about the SD trucks lol. Give you 4 cup holders in the center console and you dont have that BS dial like in my RAM 2500 and Expedition
One thing I didn't mention in the review was the ability to get four cup holders. 🤣 I have used that far more than I ever thought I would in the first two months of owning it.
@@funandfunction9116 it really is one of the things I miss most about my 2020 F350. I love my Ram Power Wagon, but really looking at Powerstrokes again. The ability to get 20+ mpg and 700+ mile range made it an epic family road tripper.
Awesome truck, be happy you got it
100%. Been without an F150 since January. Had a couple of Mavericks for fun before this came in.
Honestly the 2022 models were the best. Had the same multimedia screen, refreshed exterior, without all the extra nannies and price tags with the 2023 models.
Appreciate the input. I could have had a 22. I prefer the 23. I use the bed steps more than I ever thought I would. And amazingly, like me, quite a few people like the overall looks. 🙂
@funandfunction9116 Fair enough, seems to be a love or hate situation, maybe with time itll pass
Sir! AWESOME TRUCK!!! Thanks for taking the time to share this video, hoping to order a Lariat, but I think its too late to order a 2023, stay healthy and safe out there!
Thank you! Will have a 1500 mile update coming soon.
Are you sure about ECO mode I have the same setup and I have it. I had the dealer replace the stock coils in front to level out the ride height also. Also have the locker out back and the limited slip up front, I love the column shift takes me back to driving a real truck.
i absolutely hate that i have to set the screen every single time too. my 21 f150 should have that by now, and its pretty much pointless to set it every single time you get in.
I'm guessing they got rid of the purge Silenoid that eventually goes out and kills the truck everytime you get fuel. Like it did on my brother's f-150. So went back to a fuel cap.
Please leave gas caps and column shifters in the trucks.
That’s an awesome truck. Enjoy.
I'm definitely enjoying it so far. And I get to stop and look at it every time I'm at the gas pump... 🤣
@@funandfunction9116 a kid with new toy. 🤣🤣🤣 No better feeling than that. I am in the market to get myself one. Hopefully soon.
My future perfectly equipped truck lol just needs a front winch maybe
Exhaust tone sounds really good, very deep and clean. What exhaust brand and type is it?
It is an all stainless 4" system from MBRP. You can catch them on sale for under $700 shipped. This is the second system from them I've had on trucks. I've been pleased.
Congratulations nice truck!
Great Looking Truck For Sure
Appreciate it!
Sick rig! That seatbelt feature would annoy me though.
Thanks for the compliment. And yes, the seatbelt alert can be annoying but it goes away after a short time. I am still far more annoyed that it doesn’t remember my last setting and I have to scroll to the screen I want each time. 😏
You can shut it down with forescan at least on older models hae'nt tried it on my 24 yet but I'm about to.
Waiting on mine!
That’s a great review you made. 😊
Thanks. I wish I would have done them on every vehicle I’ve had, especially over the last couple of years. 😂 I just love cars.
Sweet truck . Congratulations
Thank you!
If I needed a 3/4 ton this is the exact one I would get except with the front winch
I love having the shifter on the steering column.
I'm getting used to it again. After having several F150's with the Sport package, it's just taking some time... 😂
Well done. Beautiful rig.
Thank you very much!
I have the exact same truck in 2022 version. Sticker was just under 75k. Got the extended warranty and extended service plan for 5k total. I don’t like the new wheels and side steps. I did add Weather tech splash guards and Amp Research side steps that hide away.
Changed the oil at 2500 and sent it to Blackstone for analysis. Looked great!
Now running Ford synthetic
Appreciate the opinion. If I had gotten a blackout package or painted grill/bumpers I’d probably not care for the wheels as much. But in person, they have really grown on me. 👍🏻
I think it has a gas cap so it doesn't leak fuel for when you need power.
Strange though that all other vehicles, up through the powerful GT500 Mustang, do not have one. 🤷♂
My 2023 F250 Lariat has one annoying quality The radio turns itself on whenever it wants to and shuts off the Nav system when the radio turns on, displaying whatever is playing.
I hit the off button and 20 to 60 seconds later it turns back on. Sometimes it does it, sometimes it doesn't. Mostly it does. I've learned to turn the volume to zero and ignore it.
I'm hoping the dealer can do something with it when it goes in for its first service.
Otherwise, real nice truck.
Keep us updated on what that is. I haven't had that issue yet.
I've never understood the lack of a gas cap. I've asked several mechanics how that system keeps dirt out of my fuel and nobody has been able to explain it.
May not understand it, but I actually like it. One less thing to do when stopping to fill up. And with this truck, I'm doing that a lot... 🤣
@funandfunction9116 Is definitely convenient. I can't argue that
What is the payload cargo carrying capacity (located on the sticker inside the door)?
Here ya go.
Can we get a driving impressions video? I also don't want to spend the 12k on a diesel, but am afraid of regretting the decision to go gas.
I’m going diesel again. I think. I had a 13 lariat 6.7 that I lost recently in a garage fire. I have sticker shock big time though.
I'm an owner that much prefers the column shifter on both Fullsize and heavy duty pickups. Sad to see the column shifter move to the console on the Fullsize. To me, console shifters are not a fair trade for the console space you lose. The cup holders or tray to keep things handy are more valuable than having a shifter there. Console shifter doesn't really add any usable value; just a looks/feel thing, though I understand some do prefer it there. Column shifter is also a good place to rest your hand to warm it up next to the heat vent on those -20F mornings!
Congrats . I ordered my truck October 2022 and still not ready 😢
Same time I ordered this one. It was originally scheduled for February. First it was pushed to April, and then May. Keep the faith! It’s worth it.
One more thing, PLEASE USE THE TRAIL TURN ASSIST!
What percentage window tint did you with? I should be getting my truck next week.
The front windshield is 50%. The front sides match the rear privacy. I believe it is 20%.
What size fuel tank do you havve the side headlights do you have the hidden panel above the glove box do you an option to remove the sun roof
Thanks for the questions. Fuel tank is 34 gallons which is actually smaller than the 36 gallon tank from my last few F150's. The spot lights on the mirrors are there and can be turned on when still or at very slow speeds. Yes, the storage compartment above the main box is there. No, the sunroof cannot be removed.
Where did you get the tail gate chrome inlays? And how much? Thank you
I actually make decals on the side. They are not perfect, but look good from a few feet away. Still working on getting all of the dimensions squared away. I can sell them for $10 a set shipped first class (envelope with a stamp).
Very nice ride.
Thanks!
I believe there is something else that is activated that is taking place of the mileage... on my wife's car if the speed sensor is activated ( if you had it set to let's say 78 mph.. it would chime when you hit that speed) the mileage would disappear unless it was turned off for some reason... I'm sure there is a mileage display.... something is just turned on or off.... and thank God the şhifter is on the column! Your not in an F150 anymore.... your in a real truck!
I'll try to show you what I mean in another video. Some of mentioned that if your phone is connected through Apple CarPlay, that it causes the dash to lose it's memory of where you had the settings at. If you notice in the video, when I cranked the truck toward the end, the mpg was actually showing on the screen. At that moment, I did not have my phone connected through CarPlay. So....there might be something to that.
@@funandfunction9116 hmmm.. the dealer or Ford relations have any suggestions? There has to be an easy fix... you pay too much money for something stupid like that to bother you. I have one on order ... for the past 6 months. I haven't heard anything, not even a Vin # assigned yet... but I kind have an interest to figure this out.
Nice one! Where did you get the screen protector? Can you please post a link? Thx

Got it straight off Amazon.
How’s the ride quality as a daily? My FX4 rides hard. Tremor has the upgraded exhaust. Can you hear it in the cab.?
Ride quality on 95% of roads is fine. Not as nice as my F150 was, but nice. We've taken it on a 6 hour drive to the beach. Not one complaint from my wife or daughters. Our driveway is gravel and up a hill. It gets the washboard affect pretty easily. I can tell you on that it will rattle your teeth. We have a new Bronco Raptor and it rides like a Cadillac over that. This truck is definitely firm, but I've been told by a friend with a non-Tremor that mine rides better than his. As for the exhaust, the MBRP I installed can be heard in the cab, but honestly it is such a sweet sound I don't mind. Lol.
Nice trucks
If you don't mind me asking, did you pay sticker price for it or were you able to get the dealer to come down on the price? I ordered the same identical vehicle and is scheduled for production on June 5th. They are offering me a price of 74,500.
I did not pay sticker. I can purchase on z-plan so the price was less.
Thank you very much. Is there a significant price difference? 3-4k? Do you know whether there is a plan for friends and neighbors?
@@alejandrogonzalez2736there is a friends and extended family. Basically an employee or retiree has to get it for you. It’s the same as the X-plan pricing which is contractor/partner pricing. I’m not 100% sure if what that discount is.
What are you getting for mpg now daily use no trailer. Thinking I’m ordering the same rig minus the sunroof. Thanks

The new lariat xl ultimate super xlrt tremor vinyl ranch hand edition. Only tremors people will get is when they see the sticker price.
How's your superduty doing? Reliable?
I just passed 365 days of ownership and flipped 15k miles this week. I’ll do an updated video review, but the short answer is yes, it is doing well and been very reliable. 👍🏻
I purchased a 2023 lariat 4x4 crew cab having an issue on wheels, 2022 custom wheels do not fit the rear of the 2023. Any bod else having an issue. Went to Town Fair Tire they ordered in 4500.00 worth of custom tires and wheels same issue rears do not fit.
That's interesting. I had not heard of that and for now, I still have the factory wheels/tires. Would be curious to hear what you end up finding out.
You mentioned a spreadsheet you created to compare diesel and gas. Is that something you could share? I was starting to create the same one.
If I can find it I will post it. I did it back in September/October of 22 before I placed the order. I'll take a look or even try to recreate it if I get some time.
Let me know how you want it sent to you, and I'll get it sent. I haven't found a good way to post it yet or I would. Basically, I used $3.45 per gallon of gas and $4.19 per gallon of diesel. I used $100 for oil changes and $250 for diesel oil/fuel filter changes plus DEF fluid. Plugged in 12.5 mpg on the 7.3 and 19.5 for the diesel. MSRP on the gas Tremor was $76k and $88k on the diesel Tremor. With those numbers I broke it out in mileage intervals of 10k, 20k, 30k, 50k, 100k, and 200k. After the first 10,000 miles, the diesel had saved me $461.28. At 200,000 miles the diesel saved me a total of $9,225.64. With that said, with similar mileage, options, etc, the gas motor truck sells for about $10,000 less than the diesel used. Which, it should. It cost $12,000 less up front. So in the end, I could not justify the diesel just to say I had a diesel. I did an addendum to the spreadsheet where I figured in some towing numbers. It really wasn't must different. Mileage with the 7.3 pulling our 3 horse slant loaded brings the mileage down to around 9.8 over a 500 mile haul. The same haul with a diesel brings its mileage down to approximately 16. Diehards will still say the diesel will last three times as long as the 7.3, etc, etc. But when things do break, the 7.3 is substantially cheaper to repair. I even figured in replacing the entire engine at 100,000 miles and I was still ahead going with the gas motor. Anyway, I hope that's some better insight and I'll be glad to send that spreadsheet out also. Thanks! Jason
Your pulling a camper and you didn't get the diesel?? Spread sheet or not you are not going to get the gas mileage with the 7.3 you could have gotten with the diesel...I have a 2020 tremor with the diesel and pull a 32ft camper...have talked to many people with the 7.3 and they all say the same thing....there gas mileage sucks
Pulling a camper less than 1,000 miles a year (probably less than 500 this year) does not justify getting the diesel. I have been very pleased with this motor so far. 2700 miles and counting. Appreciate and respect the comment though.
I have the MBRP stainless cat back. I’m going to throw the stock exhaust back on, because the aftermarket exhaust is already rusted out.
Has your exhaust discolored yet?
It has not yet. Still looks and sounds great! I polished the tip after installation as it didn’t come ‘shiny’ enough. Will keep an eye on it though.
Nice truck and opinions. I was just about to place an order but can’t decide on a 250 or 350. On the tire tag on the door what is your cargo carrying capacity? Thanks
I'd get the 350. Never know when you will need the extra payload and the 350 is only like another 2k more or something like that. The payload give or take is 1000 more.

@@chrisharris9115 the controls for the rear seem to only be on the back side of the center console. I've not found any way to control either the fronts or rears from the screen. All are activated by push buttons.

I put it on at 200 miles and am pushing 1,000 now.
Can you justify the cost of losing your a$$ when you sell a gas 3/4 ton truck. But very good looking truck
Costs $12k less up front. Sell for $12k less when I sell. Never really understood your argument. The amount you lose in resell is the same. Pay $97k and sell for $87k in a year is losing the same as paying $77k and in a year selling for $67k. I've owned 53 personal vehicles in my life, and at one point even sold new cars for a living. I have experience in it, I promise. 👍
Front windshield tint too ??
Yes sir. First vehicle I’ve done it to. Only 50%. I’ve not noticed any real difference at all as far as visibility. I have been told by numerous people it will really help with the heat from these Alabama summers.

Sucks you can't get Blue Cruise and a 48 gal tank
The fact the tank is smaller than my previous F150's with max tow packages is disappointing. And even though it doesn't have Blue Cruise, it does have assisted cruise. Per door sticker: "The combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed: 1389 kg or 3063 lbs.
The price of a diesel is justified in it's resale value.
Ehhh...based on the research I've done... If I pay $11,000 more for the diesel, I get $11,000 more when I resell it. So technically, yes, I'll get more for the diesel (as I should since I paid more for it to begin with). Thanks for the comment.

Thanks! Jason
11.5-12 mpg! Wtf
Yep. 14 out on the highway. 10 pulling a trailer. 12.X all the other time. 4.30 gears and 35" tires does not do the big 7.3 any favors.
Yeah. It'll start making a humming noise out of the capless fuel filler neck.
What’s the price?
Base was $63,740. With all options, this one was $77,025 total MSRP.
@@funandfunction9116 thank you for your response. I’m looking to get a diesel and figured another 10k added to that price :/.
@@mikeyvega9898yes sir. $10k+ depending on if you go with the regular or the HO. I just honestly couldn’t justify it. The better mpg was offset by the higher fuel costs. The added oil/fuel filter change costs were just added costs. Putting 15k miles a year on it…just never worked out in my favor.
Them ugly ass headlights cand steps. Glad I got a 22
To each their own. I like the steps and have used them more than I thought I would. 👍
If you ain't towing 5th wheel then get the "goliath", I agree.
No real man drives a f-250 in flip flops.
Thanks for contributing to the comments. I only had the flops on because my Crocs were muddy. 😉
Seventy seven thousand
One word, Aluminum…
AlumiDuty! Have to say, after having had three of the aluminum F150's....the ONLY down side I have personally seen is the fact door magnets don't stick to them when you pull a trailer in a parade. LOL.
@@funandfunction9116 I get it, I don’t shoot plastic guns and I don’t drive aluminum trucks. But to each his own, all good. 😊
Dang, I’m guessing this was $100k+ truck…….yikes!
Only off about 23% 😁 $77k was msrp on the sticker.
Pop the hood maybe 🤦♂️
Love your truck but do not understand the CHROME!
I have not had chrome bumpers on a truck since my '06 F150 with Chrome Package. All of my recent F150's have had the Sport Package with everything monochrome. I just decided to go chrome this time. If I don't like it, I can just wrap the chrome since I do stickers/decals/vinyl on the side. But if I ordered it with the colored bumpers/grill, I couldn't make it chrome if I wanted.... I appreciate the opinion though. 👍
@@funandfunction9116What happened to people that they don’t like chrome? I wished my (New then) 1979 Dodge W150 had more chrome on it other than the bumpers. The grill & trim were anodized aluminum. That used to drive me crazy. My newest 2022 GMC Terrain is an SLT. MY FAVORITE part is the chrome. And it’s all plastic now. My (2010) GMC Sierra has chrome bumpers and the little chrome trim around the GMC logo. Not enough chrome for me. Although I did add dual exhaust (with chrome tips). I’m wondering if it’s just our age. I am older (62). It looks like the car manufacturers are recognizing that there are some of us that still like the chrome. But, the “black” & monochrome packages seem to be more the norm now. I guess I just don’t like being the “Targeted “ audience for something (Cars & Trucks) that I love and so passionate about. Well, great video on your Tremor. I subscribed and can’t wait to see your other videos.
@@scotthooper4170 it all comes and goes in phases. Color matched and black wheels used to be hideous. Now it's the thing. I've had the monochrome look on my last few, but something pulled me back to some chrome for this one. I like it.
What would be the difference in a tremor suspension, mechanicals, gwvr, etc and a cab chassis model? Not interested in an aluminum truckbed, stupidest thing ford has ever done for anyone who actually uses a truck. I guess they did it for those who just use it for a family vehicle.
Cab and chassis would be dual rear wheel unless specially ordered. The 250 Tremor has the same suspension and rear as a 350. So, it would be more of what the difference is between a 350 SRW and a 350 DRW and I just can't answer that for you. And I must say I had four of the aluminum beds now and have been very impressed. They don't scratch/dent any easier than any steel bed I've had. Throw something heavy in the bed and it will leave a mark in either one unless you have a bedliner.
Sounds like a prius
That extra cap is because that engine belongs in a mustang
Gas has no resale value at all.
When the gas motor starts out $11,000 less than the diesel, you expect resale to be just as much of a difference. I've already been offered more than I gave for it, so I guess I must be doing something right. It's all good though. I could have gotten the diesel, but this is what I wanted. Appreciate the comment. 👍
