이달의 소녀는 최근 서울 강남구에 위치한 소속사 블록베리크리에이티브 연습실에서 티브이데일리와 ‘TD습격’ 인터뷰를 진행했다. 이날 인터뷰에는 희진, 현진, 여진, 김립, 고원, 올리비아 혜 6인이 참여했다.
이날 멤버들은 ‘풍선폭탄 홍보’ 게임을 진행했다. 폭탄을 들고 옆 멤버를 차례로 소개, 풍선이 터지는 타이밍에 손에 폭탄을 쥐고 있던 멤버가 벌칙을 수행한다는 룰을 세웠다. 중복된 소개와 고의적 폭탄 피하기는 허용되지 않는다는 룰도 추가했다.
가위바위보로 차례를 정해 희진이 먼저 시작했다. 희진은 “여진이는 굉장히 작은 몸으로 노래도 잘하고 비트도 잘 만나는 친구”라며 옆에 있던 여진은 소개했다. 여진은 “고원은 이마가 너무 예쁘다”라며 폭탄을 넘겼다.
이어 고원이 올리비아혜를, 올리비아혜가 김립을, 김립이 현진을 소개했다. 현진이 소개할 때 겁에 질린 현진이 풍선을 피해 도망가며 벌칙을 수행하게 됐다.
현진이 뽑은 벌칙은 ‘랩으로 노래 홍보하기’였다. 현진은 멤버들의 ‘북치기 박치기’ 비트박스에 맞춰 노래를 홍보했다.
두 번째 게임은 ‘앨범 소개’로 진행했다. 지난 게임에서 벌칙을 수행한 현진이 먼저 용기를 냈다.
현진은 몸을 최대한 풍선에서 멀리한 채 앨범을 소개했다. 희진은 한 소절을 불렀고, 여진은 눈을 깜빡이며 위기를 넘겼다. 고원과 올리비아혜, 김립이 차례로 소개를 마치며 또 다시 현진의 차례가 왔다. 현진은 또 다시 김립이 넘기는 폭탄을 피해 달아났고, 결국 또 다시 벌칙을 수행하게 됐다.
현진이 두 번째로 뽑은 벌칙은 ‘막내에게 손목 맞기’였다. 현진은 “벌칙이 괜찮은 것 같다”라며 막내 여진을 바라봤다.
이에 멤버들은 팀에서 힘을 맡은 올리비아혜를 가짜 막내로 내세우려고 뜻을 모았다. 하지만 규칙대로 진짜 막내 여진이 손목을 때리게 됐다.
연습 스윙까지 해가며 힘껏 손목을 내리친 가운데, 때린 사람과 맞은 사람이 모두 고통스러운 상황이 연출됐다. 여진의 손가락에서 피가 나는 돌발 상황도 발생했다.
두 번의 벌칙을 모두 수행한 현진은 “막내가 생각보다 세서 놀랐다. 풍선은 너무 무서웠다. 차라리 벌칙이 낫다. 나는 풍선이 너무 무섭다”라는 소감을 전했다.
두 번 모두 풍선을 전달하지 못했던 김립은 “이 친구(현진)가 풍선을 무서워하는 것을 알기에 괜찮다. 풍선과 거리두기 유지해서 괜찮다”라고 했다.
피까지 보며 벌칙을 함께 수행한 여진은 “이러려고 내가 여기 왔다 싶었다. 이만큼 다쳤다고 내가 죽지는 않으니 이해하겠다. 하지만 숙소에서 보자”며 눈을 흘겨 웃음을 줬다.
이달의 소녀는 지난달 19일 세 번째 미니앨범 ‘미드나잇’을 발매하고 타이틀곡 ‘와이낫?’으로 활동을 펼쳤다. ‘와이낫?’은 자유롭고 개성 넘치는 자아를 추구하는 스토리가 담긴 업템포 일렉트로 팝 곡으로 '디다담디담디담'(Di Da Dam Di Dam Di Dam)이라는 중독성 강한 후렴구와 카리스마 있는 도입부에서 키체인지 되는 포인트로 사랑을 받았다.
특히 이번 앨범은 미국 빌보드 메인 차트인 ‘빌보드 200’에 진입하는 등 빌보드 8개 차트에 이름을 올려 화제를 모았다.
