Ben Crowe of Crimson owes me £350 for a deposit I put on a guitar when he was 'Scorpio Guitars' of Chichester UK. He just up and left town. Now he stonewalls me when I have tried to sort it out - and I'm SO flexible. Am pretty gutted about it and not really sure what to do next, short of paying a sudden visit with a security retinue - There ARE ppl that would happily do that BUT, then its ME that does wrong. As it is I'm NOT gonna beg anymore for what's mine, life is too short. But I'm a player 30+ years in; I'll share my findings with all I see for evermore.
When you casually revealed the guitar from behind you back my eyes got big. WOOW, what a beauty! Extremely nice colour (sea) with the bright wood binding (shore) and the gold. Name fits that absolute perfectly. Together with your added unique features this makes a truly special guitar!
Gorgeous paint job!! I love how out of all the entries you’re not a builder/luthier yet you’ve ended up with most professional looking guitar in the competition.
The attention to detail on the entire thing is beyond ridiculous. I was a bit concerned at first about what you were personally going to do but the fretwork and love that went into the electronics is as stunning as the paint. Awesome work

Personal opinion here, I live 2 miles from where Phil's former shop McKnight Guitar Co. used to be, still have a shirt from there. The dude cared as much in person as he does in these videos. I bought two lefty guitars from him, one new, one used. I regret nothing. Whether I was in there for a whole guitar or just strings, he'd always be happy to shoot the shit. Even came in to MY work once and recognized me and said hi. Dude always gets my vote.
I have really enjoyed all the videos around this contest. Yours is my favorite guitar by a wide margin. Much respect for taking part in this charity drive and for dunking on some stiff competition
Phil you are a complete class act! Your build shows your dedication and competence as not only a guitar builder, but as a person who cares about others. If this guitar does not win it should get a honorable mention for quality. This build tells a lot of your personality. Awesome build wished I could afford to buy it, I'd give it a great home.

Phil that is 1 lovely guitar man the color is nice but the gold leaf with the flamed maple showing that makes it pop! ATLANTIS ! SO VERY COOL! AND AS ALWAYS GREAT SET UP WORK!
I'm impressed, it may not be as interesting a build to watch as some of them (though I would have loved to have seen more of the paint job and gold leaf process, and your iterations to getting the right pickups) but you played to your strengths and also put a lot of care and thought into making something that someone spending their hard earned money on to support your chosen charity could truly enjoy. Arguably the simplest build in the competition, but meticulous attention to detail. The result looks amazing (I really want to try that gold leaf trim around the binding idea some time) and your approach speaks to your character.
Nice job. I really like the gold leaf trim. I too spend a great deal of time dressing and smoothing the frets. I strip most of the necks I work on, custom stain them and always finish off with Tru Oil, for a fantastic looks and feel. Thanks for sharing.
Love the metal flake. Not enough sparkly guitars these days. And vfc funny you mention Tucson. I lived there for like 10 years. Wish I could get the wife and kiddos on board to move back. I love that city!! And as retired military I want to thank you for choosing the charity you picked. YAARRRGGGGGGG!!!!!!!
It is nice to see a build that is a straightforward guitar with a great finish and not a three necked egg slicer :-) Gunstock oil is the best wipe on finish I have found so far. I had always been guided by the instructions on the Tung oil tin to only apply a couple of coats. With gunstock oil, If you have the patience to apply at least 6 coats, you can get a semi gloss finish.

The gold leaf trim is a really nice touch and compliments the sparkly colour very well. Outstanding finish.
