such a beautiful song
So I stumbled onto this after looking up sales on cdJapan where this game was listed. I youtubed it to see what kind of otome game it was and surprised I was to find myself listening to Kanon. I agree I like her singing in a deeper voice generally and her voice goes really well with symphonic instruments no matter the style be it in a gothic style or symphonic pop. This one is like a mix of Calendula Requiem, Sakura Meikyuu (minus the grating high notes) and Kajitsu no Keikoku's generous amounts of violin (which is still my all time favorite since it still has good song composition when played forwards as well as backwards.) Even though I'm not a huge fan of her more bubbly music and certainly not the jazz I think she's imroved as a vocalist. Still this opening being her was a surprise because I haven't really been keeping up with Kanon's work and I just kind of came here by chance. Lucky me! Still interested in this game too. I'm not a huge otome game fan, but when I do... lol. No really the art for this one looks awesome and despite the bugs I've read about I'm interested. Thinking about buying it. I understand all the spoken Japanese, and I can read hiragana. Really it's the Kanji that worry me. That and the weird/uncomfortable smacking noises a lot of CVs make in these games are the reasons I don't really get too into otome games. I get embarrassed listening to them even if I'm alone.

花音ちゃん、YAY!!!! Like her older days, similar to toumei no kagi. Way better WAY BETTER than that crap she has recently been releasing. Her voice sounds more structured and focused, better intonation overall. BRAVA.
When intonation, musicianship, diatonicism, harmony, and timbre are in the equation, Kanon's latest songs have been correlated to crap. Like, really bad. But for personal accomplishment? Then sure, the stuff prior to this song is okay. I mean, sansukumi was cute and killy killy joker was not too bad~ And yes, she only wrote the lyrics and evidentially that is why her intonation is better. I am a semi-professional musician (cellist) so I speak from a background of theory, training, and practice of the art.
Even when I met her for the third time back in 2011, I asked her if she pays much attention to music theory, she responded with a giggle and said "あんまり."
Aww do not be sorry! Since I am a cellist/musician I have learned to develop a keen ear regarding theory and applied music. I apologize if I sound harsh, I just know Kanon can do much better if she practiced more. :3 I have been a fan of Kanon since I saw her first published article back in 2008 before we knew what still doll sounded. I completely agree with you! Her lyrics are great and she is a sweet person. Over the years when I had the opportunities to meet with her, she made me love her more just by having conversation. I wish the best for her, so maybe that is why I judge so harshly. And no need to apologize my dear, we are both fans of an adorable artist with powerful lyrics that move our hearts!
And I LOVE monochrome flame!! One of my favorites along with Maboroshi, Kajitsu no Keikoku, Marmalade Sky, and Toumei no Kagi.
+Knightia Willow Can I just give my opinion about this... beautiful conversation between you two? I've seen lots and lots of comments about her new style and those things, I don't really like when people criticize her but I know it's their opinion. Lets see, when she was with her lolita style she did great music, BUT I saw that all the songs of her first album were written by her producer, in the second album was half her and hal her producer, so that means that she ole sang what her producer did.
Now she writes her own songs, she makes the music, she sings and she plays the cello (Isn't that enough?). She made this change because she wanted to... be her!
Also those people who criticize her should open their minds. Just try to relax and feel her music, not only hear, also feel the mesage she wants to show us.
For example, the first music video with her new style, which was Signal, I saw I didn't like it very much, but now it's my favourite song, everytime I listen to it I almost cry, because I feel the music.
If you pay atention tho the RLR video and the lyrics it shows that even two people can't stay together they make the impossible to be together, or that you can do whatever just for the person you love. Thats why she carries the flag, meanig "I've done this, now this is my territory, this can't stop me now".

+Neko Haha okay.... You don't think I took time to listen to her own songs? Of course I did, and multiple times. She just needs to realize that she would unleash more potentiality in music if she would freaking practice her musicianship, intonation, and writing techniques. I am a classically trained musician, play multiple instruments, am in orchestra and many ensembles, so I know what it takes. Kanon needs to practice more, anyone with a good ear more musicianship could tell you that. Instead of practicing for improvement, she releases songs that have the same beginner level of musicianship. Why did people like her stuff with Mana so much more? Because he is a trained musician and knows what intonation should do and how musicianship works. Yeah, she wasn't necessarily doing her music under Mana, and I want her to do her own stuff, but it is a joke if Kanon wants people to buy her work when she has the same musicianship level from 8 years ago. She NEEDS to practice and improve. ~
