Liane, was a very interesting and fascinating woman, what a varied lifestyle she lived. A professional dancer, courtesan, endured an abusive first marriage, did charitable work helping children, second marriage was to a prince, and ended out her life as a nun. I can only imagine how interesting her memoirs must be, you did a great job investigating this story, as always.
What a fascinating woman. She did it all and ended her life as a canonizable saint. Perhaps the Catholic Church should canonize this woman instead of the usual crop of clerics and professional virgins.
I love hearing stories of brave talented women, who miraculously overcome the disadvantages of being a woman alone without family or connections!. I'm going to try to find and read her books which sound as fascinating as the woman herself!!! Thanks F.L. advancing the stories of fascinating Woman. Loie Fuller, famous early performance artist/dancer from the US made her fame in Paris during the same time. @@catholiccrusader5328 Uh…thanks but I’m not really interested in political (historical) fiction. I would rather read biographies or autobiographies about artists and musicians of this era and the center of these activities in Paris. Or an actual history book.

I don’t know if you’ve heard about them but I would love for you to make a video about The Butterflies (Las Mariposas in Spanish) that were 3 Dominican sisters who stood up to Trujillo’s dictatorship in the island. Or at least about Minerva Mirabal, the eldest of them, if I’m not mistaken. Dominican heroines known through Latin and Central America.

Thank you for your fascinating commentary---The courtesanes (of which i am one) were able to thrive and evolve with panache during the BELLE EPOQUE de Paris Liane was one of many...
A beautiful soul inside and out I think. She wasn't wild, merely curious, intellectual, active, and interesting. That she became involved in charity work doesn't surprise. I suspect she had a lot of love for everyone really.
Consuelo Vanderbilt, 9th Duchess of Marlborough, has this to say about Liane de Pougy and La Belle Otero in her book "The Glitter and the Gold." There was rivalry between them and they were proud of the precious stones that adorned them as visible signs of the eminence they had reached in their profession. Oterio once challenged liane by appearing at the Casino one night, covered from head to foot with priceless jewels. It was a dazzling display, but in seeking to outdo her rival, Otereo had sacrificed good taste and lent herself to ridicule. Excited conjectures about Pougy's rejoiner were promptly answered. The next evening appearing in a simple white gown without a single jewel, she was followed by her maid gorgeously arrayed in jewels that far outshone those of Otero.

👍💯💜👏. Her early life she might been a little rebellious. She did marry the wrong man, he was cruel. I can see why she left. I guess she did what she had to do at that time. She was beautiful.. she did write about her life.sad she reunited with her son, only to have him die tragically. She was a good person her second marriage after he raned off only to come back. She could refused him. She learned to be independent. She lived a full life. I'd love to read her books. My mom used to say I was stubborn. In many ways I was. But I learned by watching others. Knew what not to do. To study, learn. Be what I wanted. My parents never had to worry about me. I'm still a bit stubborn. But in being stubborn. I learned not to be used or taken advantage of. Lianede rougy.in many was was smart. Knowing what you want, not willing to put up with abuse. Led her to be her own person. She knew when to stop. Her life could ended badly. But in the end I say she lived a full life. Is her books still in print? I'd love to read them. As usual, i enjoy these stories.
