@@andrewjones575 Ohhh yeh you are right...I should have focused more on whether / how much she has paid for this video instead of appreciating her hard work throughout these years. Thank's mate
Her passion n love for her work can be seen through her shiny eyes when she speaks. The happiness coming from her customers became her source motivation and I guess that explains why she can do it for 45 years
What a beautiful, hardworking woman. Her last few words made me emotional. All she wants is to continue her business, come up with new dishes, and watch her customers visit her shop and grow over the years. She lives a simple life, but it is a fulfilling life. All the best to her! I will visit next time I go to HK.
Absolutely one of my favorite places to eat in HK, there's something so uniquely tasty about their beef tomato noodle soups, it's so addicting. I hope this place continues to thrive and I hope Irene does too
Tomato and egg and all the variations of the dish are something people don't talk about when mentioning Chinese cuisine, but it's truly amazing in many forms.
If it's distinctively HK, they will erase it. They are slowly removing the border. Everyone will just be labeled as 大灣人 within PRC and both HK and Macau SARs. Ironically, the only real Hong Kongers are the ones outside of Hong Kong. Eventually there will only be 新港人 left to take advantage of what little benefits that HK has and ruin that too.
Visited in 2017 and just ate at Dai pai dong spots my whole trip. She’s rich in every sense. She dishes out killer grinds with the fam. Their family bond is awesome.
Yuk Kin Fast Food in Sheung Wan will be my go-to; followed by this place. The dry curry fried rice in YK is to die for! While for this place, it's the macaroni!
Ah! 8:52 is the international code of Hong Kong lol and the video lasts 8 minutes 52 seconds, and yes go to Sing Heung Yuen!!! Address is: 2 Mei Lun Street, Central 中環美輪街2號排檔
I think this tastes better for locals due to nostalgia factor. If you already spent thousands on air tickets, I suggest you go to the mid range or high-end seafood restaurants.

@@andrewjones575 Yeah, because every food related video that shows the owner’s history, family, the story of origin for both the dish and the restaurant is an advertisement. Because advertisements are 9 minutes long. I almost forgot the part where she announced her two bowls for the price of one deal, Saturdays only, thanks for pointing that out in this ad.
Same, from Canada. I didn’t get the food. Loved the marmalade cat tho. The cat purposely stood still to allow tourists to take pictures. I don’t get why HK folks love restaurant-made instant noodles, spam slices or mac in soup. I heard it’s cuz they are too busy to make it at home? It’s honestly just regular mac, store bought chemical chicken stock, and canned tomatoes.
tomatoes, onion, bell pepper, tomato juice (i use V8) and ground hamburger meat makes the best GOULASH EVER... at least thats what we call it in the deep southern U.s!! and this looks identical to it!!!! 🤍🤍🤍
Irene is, without a doubt, an icon. Love her energy!
How much did she pay Vice for this ad?
@@andrewjones575 I guess 45 years of hard work, a good heart, and maybe a personality not jealous of other's success haha
@@perrohuskkk6219 She'd have paid them $thousands for this ad posing as a documentary.

That restaurant is kind of strange the way its built into the street and steps looks like a cool place to eat and her food looks delicious.
Watch the whole thing. This type of outdoor eating, called a Dai Pai Dong in Hong Kong, is very common throughout Asia.
Government really needs to revitalise the Dai Pai Dong culture here, an important part of our culture

As a local, I highly recommend trying the (toast?) it's fried bread, egg, peanut butter, syrup and butter. So so so so gooodddd

Must preserve this place. Hong Kong is losing its identity to commercialism. This is keeping the culture alive 👏
Damn how u get blurred out the family photos? What's that story? She don't mess with them anymore at all

Good content but the translation is so inconsistent. Exaggerates phrases that don't need to be but lack of description in certain things.
Is she blue line or yellow line?
is this.. a variation of bolognaise with macaroni....but more watery
HKers, please hang on to your dai pai dongs. In Singapore, our hawker scene is almost dead, killed by ridiculous rents.
MEEE FROM CHINA!
Very funny introduction
Looks yummy macaroni in tomato sauce bacon egg maybe cheese looks yummy maybe a crispy cheese layer on top that's what I would add.
You need to share this location, I have to try that macaroni for sure.

Yet another ad that's falsely presented as a documentary.
I don’t know why this is upvoted. There’s plenty of food docs out there just like this. Condescending for no reason.
