when people do these range test, they are always walking in a random empty field, nobody acutally uses the mics like that, you have to go into a place where a lot of cellphones and wifi are , to see how good it holds a connections
The reason is to see if the manufacturer’s claims are true. It’s the only objective way to test distance. If they do the test you recommend, it wouldn’t prove anything because your walls aren’t the same. All of the interference factors would be completely different. Their walls could be empty while yours are full of network cables. Your walls could be lathe and plaster while theirs are sheetrock, or even brick. They could have 20 people walking in between the receiver and mic carrying electronic devices while you live alone. Starting to make sense?
Hey bro, at 01:14, you mentioned that the charging case of Rode is more rugged and better-looking. That's clearly a mistake. I've been using the DJI Mic for a long time, and the stainless steel casing has always been very sturdy. Especially with the release of the DJI Mic 2, its aluminum alloy casing is even more rugged, and it now has an additional locking mechanism. In terms of design, I've always loved DJI's aesthetic design, especially the translucent emitter, which looks absolutely cool.
I have the DJI microphones and they were great for me because I record everything on my iPhone and these ones I don’t know if you can plug them directly into an iPhone but DJI has the adaptor where you can plug it right into the iPhones which is great
After so much disappointment with the previous Rode set, I will stay with my DJI Mic set for now. I am happy to see Rode realized they needed to improve to compete.
I guess for an iPhone the dji is better since the receiver hooks up directly to it without an annoying dangling cable and attached receiver which is impossible to hold? I have the rode mic 2 kit and could never use it because it’s too cumbersome so I’m hoping the dji receiver would be filming friendly with an iPhone
I am expecting the new Rode Wireless Pro's today (Sep 2) and I like some of the new features. Before you get too excited, I still use the DJI mics and there is nothing wrong with the case. It's still a more compact, neat package that stores the units perfectly. I have NEVER had a problem with the lid of the charging case coming open. I do secure it in a Think Tank roller case and it's a tidy set up. With that said, I am looking forward to finally having a setup that has the lockdown mics and 32 bit float.
I never liked the DJI mics for their cheap flat S-y sound and this A-B comparison just was proof of this. I'm so looking forwards to these Wireless Pro!
Receiver is lacking headphone port. Funny that Rode includes timecode connection for the camera but there is no way to monitor the audio during use of the timecode, camera operator will just have to wait for the playback, since timecode is already a lot of convenience better not include too much or it might make sense.
After struggling with poor quality with my DJI mics, I switched to Rode. I love the DJI design, but they are so hard to use for recording on iPhone ( no audio without unplugging ) and quality is hit & miss. I wish the Rode has their case design & touch screen, but otherwise these do seem much better.
Love my Wireless Go II for field work, this could be a great upgrade as I film in my car and this could better help isolate my voice over road noise. If this has better fullness and deeper richness then I'm pretty sold.
had these since release and they are extremely good and well worth the money i dont want to use anything else now and i never have to question or even think about audio and can focus on the shots
In my last video shot with the rode wireless go 2, i have experienced issues with distortion. We where filming a video with halloween in a amusement park. The envirement was very loud, and in the post production i found out that the whole audio track, was nearly clipping or alreaddy clipping. There was no space to manual adjust the audio to make it sound better. Now i see this i'm convinced to upgrade to the wireless pro! :) It sounds like the perfect wireless microphone for me! Thanks for this good review video!
Rode has just some more Low frequencies that i can hear in this video, which seems that the voice sounds better and warmer, but the downside is that it can get more wind noise or when you spell words like "Power" or "Bombastic" the B-s and P-s will sound worse :D ... i know we can fix them in post but some creators don't have time for that!
Really really useful review, and a no-brainer upgrade for me from my Sennheiser ew100 ENG G3 which is big, bulky, doesn't record internally, doesn't have a charging case and doesn't have 32-bit float audio! Thanks for the review! 🙏
The two sound very similar. The ride does sound a bit more full than the dji though. Also the ride will vanish in a 360 video with the insta x3 though.

6:17 according to the Røde website, the internal mic can handle 123.5 db SPL (1kHz @ 1M). That’s high for a mic like this, but not incredibly high, compared to a Shure SM58 (150 dB SPL @ 100 Hz, 10 dB SPL @ 1 kHz, both at 1” from mic), but probably good enough if you’re not holding it close to your mouth in the way that you would while singing. Even with 32-bit recording, and the crazy dynamic range that allows, the physical limits of the mic capsule still apply. So, while yelling into the mic might distort within the capsule, nothing is going to be so loud as to clip within the recorder itself.
This is a good point. I’m considering the system to hook up behind a car for exhaust audio, given the 32bit float it probably won’t distort, but the internal mic potentially will….
I edited my comment. I originally put 100 dB SPL, but that is for the original Wireless Go, not the Pro. It’s 123.5. The maximum for a human voice is about 135 dB @ 1”.

Great video! For quality comparison they both sound good, but I think the Rode has more presence or voice depth. A little more bass in the Rode I guess is what I mean. That no clipping with loud sounds i
Great job Rode but why didn't you fix the issue with having to use a cable to connect to the iphone/pad? DJI has an adaptor that doesn't need a cable to connect. I hate having to hang my wireless go's receiver from a cable, looks unprofessional.
Awesome video, thanks. It’s tempting but 450€ is quite pricey indeed. Also, what’s the mount you’re using on your tripod? It’s for a long-form (>1h) portable video podcast recording setup with a meeting room table.
I’m trying to get the best sound on a stage about 150 feet away (i generally do small theater jobs) from a Sony a7s DSLR. Can’t figure out if the quality of the sound would be better just throwing one of these little wireless transmitters on the stage floor or putting the videomic + shotgun on the dlsr…or 3rd option which is using both by connecting the shotgun to wireless pro near theater speakers. Thanks by the way.
Thanks for the great video! I was just about to pull the trigger on the Honeywell Lark Max and trying to decide which Lav mic to get for it, when the announcement for the RØDE Wireless pro hit. When I saw this came with TWO $100 Lavs, it really caught my eye. So... I already have mine on pre-order! I'm an actor, so I will use it for my audition videos and love the fact that I can use the second mic for the reader. The gain assist and the timecode will be amazing when I'm editing. I know there are limitations to the timecode that might not work for some people, but I don't even know if I'll need it. One other thing I love about your video is that you have the actual unit and you aren't just pulling images off the website. Hopefully that means they'll be in stock and shipping soon. I still use my tripod that you turned me on to in one of your other videos, so I love your content.

Its about the same but clipping free 👍🏻 (of course at receiver) if connected to camera - it will clip since … again its using camera. Must work with post production and use recordings from RWPro
DJI mic is definitely brighter than the rode one, but rode’s mic is also much more natural when used handheld. my guess is that DJI boosted the high end so that it neutralizes when clipped under a shirt, since fabric will roll that off, making it sound a little more balanced. im not sure if that’s the case, but when used handheld it definitely sounds crispy but lacks detail. im 100% staying away from that one if i want to mic a woman. i think rode saw the amount of people using the actual unit as a handheld mic instead of putting a lav2 on it and keeping it in their pocket, and they kept a lot more of the low end so you’re immediately gonna get a sound that’s more true to life.
Question- If I hook it up to my camera like normal, and hit record in camera, will it be recording in 32bit float? Or- do I additionally have to hit record on the microphone itself? If that is the case, will these two recordings both in camera and the 32bit float file be in sync via time code automatically?
Hi there! The transmitted audio won't be 32 bit float, however if you do use the Gain Assist feature it will set your levels for you and it's really hard to clip! So this is ideal for livestreams if you have an unexpected loud or quiet noises. You can then sync the internal 32 bit float later if you need to!
Wondering if there is a limit to the audio clipping. We run chainsaws on our channel and usually have to put the microphone 20 yards away so it doesn’t distort. This would be awesome if it worked under VERY loud circumstances…like clipped on my shirt while running the loud equipment.
Great question! I believe the only real limitation is the dynamic range of the mic capsule, but as far as the audio levels go I think this would work well in your use case. I'll have to look into this!
Hi! I watched your video through automatic translation. My English is not good. It's interesting for timely information, while I'm on the hook for DJI and the Hollyland Lark Max mics. Please do a test of Rode Go Pro when connected to Sony A7Siii. In the Rode Go II version, Sony A7Siii users complained a lot about sound interference. The noise makes the sound in the recorded videos very bad. I don't know if this Rode Go Pro version can fix that or not? This is a problem I think is very serious. Thanks! (I used Google Translate to translate, hope you can understand what I mean if some sentences don't seem to be translated correctly)
Is it possible to have a system with four microphones for a four person podcast? I don't understand why they've limited the system to just two microphones.
Thank you for this video. If you connect the róde pro to the input of the camera or mobile, and you fix the audio input of the camera. Is the incoming signal from the róde to the camera stabilised? and you have a constant level and no need to fear clipping or soft audio recordings?
One additional question. For long recording sessions that extend beyond the battery lifetime, can you connect the receiver and transmitters to an external battery during a production? This is the case with the róde wireless 2... thx...
That vocals sounds muffled when compared with vocals from a Sennheiser shotgun mic and Sound Devices MixPre. Pocket size muffled vs best sound quality compact kit.
To me it seems like DJI Mic vs the Wireless Pro is just a matter of taste. They really don't differ that much in quality, while the Rode sounds full and warm the DJI sounds more clean and neutral.
I wish I could buy the dji mic or the rode wireless pro but my budget won’t allow me to do so. What budget wireless mic will you recommend ? Thanks you
Hello. I have found this channel by luck and love it. Can you please advise if you can 'recover' audio in 32bit within Premier Pro? I have just been doing some tests and I'm still clipping massively and can't seem to get the results other people and yourself have. I would appreciate your help. Thanks.
If it was recorded using the 32bit float recording, turn down the gain until the audio levels are healthy. You can also do this in Adobe Audition. If the audio doesn't come down to healthy levels double check that you are recording in 32bit float recording.
In Europe Amazon has a price tag of 550 eur (about 595 USD) for the normal kit (2 TX, 1 RX). This is a shot in the foot for Rode, or Amazon, or whatever...
for example, i am recording at 24fps in my camera and the audio i want to use is the 32 bit float recorded on the wireless pro, how will both sync when the wireless pro fps is undefined?
I bought the Rode, using it for interviewing people on an event. What I dislike, or have not figured out how to, is that it also catches a lot of background noise, like other people talking within 5 meter range. It really ruins the whole audio, as trying to fix it in Premiere Pro with Reduce Noise or other effects, they start sounding like a robot, and the surrounding noises never fully fade away. I heard the new Sony has inbuilt noise cancellation. Can anyone tell me how to deal with this problem?
They just need a firmware update to allow you to download sound files direct to iPad as I use my iPad Pro for all my editing & so many people must do the same

Great question! I believe the only real limitation is the dynamic range of the mic capsule, but as far as the audio levels go I think this would work well in your use case. I'll have to look into this!
Take all my money. Can this kit be paired with a Zoom H8?
Is it also possible to use the mic on an online meeting? Can it stream directly to the pc?
Do the Rode Wireless Pro mics make the Rode VideoMic Me-L irrelevant? Or might you want both for some reason?
I have the new 5th gen Rode NT1 and it still clips when I yell in it to test 32 bit float
Is it possible to have a system with four microphones for a four person podcast? I don't understand why they've limited the system to just two microphones.
What deskstop stand did you use for the interview go?
One question: can we adjust gain/sensitivity of each transmitter individualy ? Tks
Yes
When mute in on, did they give us a way of knowing on the the transmitter- like changing the colour of the led or make it flash or something
Please. What is name of your table stand for wireless adaptor, which u use while talking to us.
wow. Rode coming in hot! just need to add a white Lav
Does it come with the adapter to the iPhone or do you still need to purchase ?
can i know what accessory youre using to hold the rode microphone on your desk?
Thank you for this video.
If you connect the róde pro to the input of the camera or mobile, and you fix the audio input of the camera. Is the incoming signal from the róde to the camera stabilised? and you have a constant level and no need to fear clipping or soft audio recordings?
I bought them but Is there a way to have some noise reduction to use it on outside live streamings?
What's the stand you are using to hold the mic that makes it looks like a podcast mic?
One additional question.
For long recording sessions that extend beyond the battery lifetime, can you connect the receiver and transmitters to an external battery during a production? This is the case with the róde wireless 2... thx...
That vocals sounds muffled when compared with vocals from a Sennheiser shotgun mic and Sound Devices MixPre. Pocket size muffled vs best sound quality compact kit.
Enjoy standing 15+ feet away with a shotgun mic versus a lav
How does it compare to the Hollyland Lark Max?
To me it seems like DJI Mic vs the Wireless Pro is just a matter of taste.
They really don't differ that much in quality, while the Rode sounds full and warm the DJI sounds more clean and neutral.
I'd like to know if gain settings affect the 32bit recordings or if that's only when you send to the camera?
Thank you very much for your videos, I have a question 🙏🙏🙏 How do you do to have a lot of views on RUclips? Sponsor your videos?
you dont want the answer , just follow Jesus Christ into everlasting life
Where can I get the adapter you’re talking into !
Thank you for sharing
I wish I could buy the dji mic or the rode wireless pro but my budget won’t allow me to do so. What budget wireless mic will you recommend ? Thanks you
The Rode wireless me is a solid option and has the gain assist feature!
@@NatesFilmTutorials ok thanks , I guess I have to save towards the Rode
459e in Ireland from all the camera shops
Is this better than the DJI Wireless Mic?
But aren't you gonna clip when the output is being recorded to the camera?
I thought 32bit float was only to the reciever.
How doe it compare to Hollyland Lark Max ?
Can I use a Sennheiser MKE2 microphone connected to this Rode?
This looks like it would replace my zoom and my dji wireless. Seems like they combined the features of both into one.
for example, i am recording at 24fps in my camera and the audio i want to use is the 32 bit float recorded on the wireless pro, how will both sync when the wireless pro fps is undefined?
I bought the Rode, using it for interviewing people on an event. What I dislike, or have not figured out how to, is that it also catches a lot of background noise, like other people talking within 5 meter range. It really ruins the whole audio, as trying to fix it in Premiere Pro with Reduce Noise or other effects, they start sounding like a robot, and the surrounding noises never fully fade away. I heard the new Sony has inbuilt noise cancellation. Can anyone tell me how to deal with this problem?
Definitely RODE Wireless PRO! :)
They just need a firmware update to allow you to download sound files direct to iPad as I use my iPad Pro for all my editing & so many people must do the same
