Yea, I am using dual twinblades with ice spear and it just stacks damage when you use the talismans that boost consecutive hits and jump attacks. I tried them all but like the twinblade the best. I didn't want a blood build and dont care for the ash of war on elanor's poleblade. The only issues I have is with heavy armored knights with shields but I just pepper them with ice spear to soften them up for a jump attack.
I really appreciate the time and effort you put into these weapon analysis videos. I use them as a reference when I'm developing new builds all the time!
21:00 my usecase for Occult damage was my arcane is much higher than my strength or dexterity (60 vs 16 and 30) so it gave me my best scaling, and it gives arc scaling so when i put seppuku on a weapon i get better damage and better blood scaling through the occult affinity
I use powerstanced Eleanora's Poleblades but I also play around with the metal whips from Juno Hoslow, those are fun and whips are insane with their reach and moveset. All bleed/arcane builds.
I'm loving these videos man. Keep it up. Thank you for your research and time. Hope this isn't a dumb question but will you be making a best weapon review to compare all the best weapons with each-other when finishing each video of each type? I could just watch all the videos and compare the numbers but the nuance is what I'm interested in taking away from your videos.
When I picked up the regular twin blades I was like meh and didn't really give it another thought but Eleonora's poleblade changed the entire way I've been playing the game. Not the strongest option around but hands down my favorite option.
The godskin peeler also gets a unique heavy sprint attack which is the best part of the weapon moveset for a bleed build as it hits 4 times and it staggers very well. By far my fav twinblade mainly because of that sprint heavy. As rankings i'd put godskin peeler in 1st place because of it's versatility and the reason that Eleonora's poleblade weapon art can get you easily killed by bossess by locking you into a super long animation making using that art not viable against lots of aggresive bosses.
Great vid as always! Would love to see one of these for the daggers, I feel like there is some interesting choices on paper but would love to see it in practice. Appreciate all the work and keep it up
I've been running dual Godskin Peelers and I keep an extra one in my main hand for infusions and spells; Main right hand: Cold Godskin Peeler with Bloodhound's Step Secondary right hand: Quality Godskin Peeler with Bloodhound's Step Main left hand: Blood Godskin Peeler with Barbaric Roar for weapon buff, I switch this out with Seppuku when I really want to proc bleed I then keep one Seal in each hand; Dragon Communion Seal in right hand for dragon breath spells Golden Order Seal in left hand for buffs and weapon spells When I fight an enemy/boss/invader with high health, I switch from the Cold peeler to the Quality one and use Black Flame Blade. I switch my left hand back to the Blood peeler, and jump attack. You can proc bleed in one or two jumps, and you're building up Black Flame damage the whole time. Additionally, if you do this after Frost procs, the Black Flame damage will reset it so you can proc it again right after
I will say in defense of occult its optimal on something like katanas that can be Ashed or anything with inherent Bleed/poison. Occult Sepuku or Occult Poison Mist for example are the best bang/buck combo for an arc build. in that example it buffs the natural Status, can be buffed by its own AoW and gains good raw damage from high arc stats.
stats doesn't matter as long as I can hold heavy attack to spin these twinblade on horse. it also clear those skulls on walking mausoleum's legs so fast that I always have to put it on when doing mausoleum any time xD
I love these breakdowns but I think your idea of 'endgame' might be a bit off for a second playthrough/experienced player. Godskin peeler, knights twinblade and eleanora's twinblade are all in altus and you can get those by grabbing some lift tokens and beating at most one boss of note.
I agree on the endgame thing. If you know what you're doing, you can get the Twinned Knight swords in like 10 minutes and you don't have to swing a weapon once. Godskin Peeler requires a mid game boss. Eleonora's Poleblade requires getting invaded by an NPC, invading an NPC and getting invaded by another NPC. None of this requires any progress in the main story.
Yah, I'm a new player (only lvl 27 even) and I already have the twinned knight blades. I'm pretty sure I'm capable of getting Eleanor's Pole blade, I tried for the Godskin Peeler but I'm just not strong enough. I think a lot of people don't realize how many area bypasses there are that don't even require fighting.
You can get Eleonora’s Poleblade very early game. I just got it at lvl 22. It’s super easy. Just need both dectus medallions. Grab the right while getting Radagon’s Sorseal at Ft Faroth in Caelid and left while getting bloody slash at Ft Haight in Limgrave. Follow Yura’s quest line. Help him kill a bloody finger at Raya Lucaria main gate. Super easy. Then use Dectus lift to Altus Plateau. Go to 2nd Church of Marika which only takes like 2-3 mins from lift. Kill Eleonora when you arrive after speaking with Yura and that’s it. Phenomenal weapon. Much more fun & rewarding in PVE than RoB IMO.
Thanks for the nice video! Also once again, I sadly must agree with your analysis on the FP cost of skills. Look at Flames of the Redmanes. Now, look at how difficult it is to parry the boss and get their poise broken that way. I've fought Morgott for 2 hours yesterday, I could barely figure out a couple parry timings (it got better over time) but the way boss attacks are designed feels unnatural, making parry difficult for me. Then I tried out Flames of the Redmanes, and Morgot melted within 2 minutes. It takes zero skill to use that AoW, but it gets the job done, and I feel stupid for even trying to parry, and it *also* doesn't even feel fulfilling to kill a boss like this, because the game is so unbalanced it honestly feels like I cheated the system. There are so many builds that rely on pure skill and engage the boss in a fair manner, but because many of the bosses are just straight up unfair (compared to previous souls entries there is an exorbitant amount of bs in the game) you also feel like a fool for not just using the overpowered Eleonora's Poleblade that can be gotten within the first few hours of the game. The funny thing is that, for example, the many delayed attacks by bosses reward the weapon arts spammers and give them more time to destroy the boss, whilst I sit here and try to figure out the parry window, fail, get punished, and get nothing to show for my effort. Unless you're a god like Ongbal, it really feels not worthwhile to learn to git gud when you could just be spamming weapon arts.
I’d love to move some of the gear around the map. It feels like there’s a ton of stuff that’d be maybe interesting or viable early game (getting those gain runes on hit stuff early would make it less of a joke) but there’s stuff you can get in the starting region-like bloodhound blade-that can carry you the whole game, and are easier to upgrade to get better scaling because they use sombering which is so much more reliable to consistently get. Getting regular stones always fees like I’m 2 tiers behind when I need to be getting them.
Do you know if it makes a difference when you apply a specific type of Ash of War (e.g. Chilling Mist for Cold and Seppuku for Blood) or can I use something like Bloodhound Step and set the affinity to either and get the same effect? Also do you need to use Seppuku or Chilling Mist for the effects to proc or just having them on the weapon is enough?
@@Omega232323 since the gargoyle twinblades doesn't have a bleed nor frost status without sepuku or chiling mist you need to apply the ash of war to the weapon. I think applying sepuku, but not using it, still apply the bleed build up but you need to use chiling mist (not just apply it to the weapon) to build frost.
so combining elenoras poleblade with a cold twinblade for a dex/int character gives the ability to reapply frost build up multiple times due to the fire damage on elenoras. The bleed would just be the icing on the cake.
The Godskin Peeler is just a decent twinblade. It's not bad, and there are better ones for different builds that can do better, but it doesn't lag so far behind that you'd miss out by using it over others. Plus default it gets the blackflame attack. You can get the actual ash of war it has to put on any twinblade, but it forces you to pick between fire or flame for elements or the non element's, big rip. BUT, having no element on it means enchantment spells like bloodflame and keeping the weapon art. What I did was send a copy with the element flame weapon art version to an alt, and non upgraded it shreds through a lot, even non upgraded the weapon art hits REALLY hard. Throwing on Godfreys Icon with no smithing upgrades the weapon art alone can take 30-40% of Margits hp, which is impressive for no upgrades and just a talisman.
The fire damage might scale off arcane. And it has a low fp cost, because everything else other than that is lackluster compared to other poleblades (no seppukku, split damage which you failed to mention), so it must remain almost exclusively on its weapon art to be relavent. Also in pvp its very difficult to land so it does not need not have too high an fp cost.
It works like a invisible status bar you hit it fills and lower when your not hitting heavy weapons and charge attacks fill it faster works both ways i.e. you also have a invisible status bar for poise your poise rating is like stagger resistance. different enemies have different resistance for stager hope that helps
There is a video that someone made that shows the different weapon classes, and there was a pve/pvp brief breakdown based off weapon class. The scale with the highest poise build lets you not get interrupted after 3 heavy attacks if I’m not mistaken. Then you have your diminishing returns that cap off. However certain bosses can get staggered every hit with certain attacks which is lame. So for poise I’d just make sure to have atleast 60 because it will help you do something before being interrupted.
I know I'm late, but occult exist so that weapons with inate bleed or poison can scale their status build with your arcane. No arcane scaling, no status scaling
@Youwy I thought after listening to many others who did some research on blood vs occult, there are points where enemies can’t be bled but occult has a way of increasing the ability to proc bleed. I’m trying to remember if it works on some of the enemies that don’t bleed, as occult has a work around but I’d have to look into it. It seems also that occult did have an edge for bleed builds, looking into it you may want to test the occult against bleed.
You said “lightning and fire dmg types are better for early game”..... I’m already done with ALL of Limgrave, Liurnia, Caelid (almost), gelmir, deeproot depths, siofra, and currently a sizable chunk of the way through Altus and I don’t think I’ve found a single lightning ash of war thus far. Is Lightning really only effective in early game?? Then why can’t I find any early game??
I've been thinking about power stancing Flails. They have a realy fun, fast moveset... they just have crap range. It would be nice to know how they rank with your testing.
I think seppuku with occult has higher damage if you have an arcane build. So one blood weapon (rob or eleonoras) in main and one occult weapon with passive bleed in offhand.
You forgot about Bloodflame already lol there's an incant that adds fire to your weapon and its magically capable of causing bloodloss Eleonora's pole has that spell built in to it but its not visible its just a part of it.
Somehow I am getting Eleonora pole blade to 600+ AR no buffs. I have put a few points of str and seems to buff it I guess due to str scaling with fire?
Bleed needs a considerable nerf. It's ridiculously easy to proc in pve & pvp...which hurts diversity cos anything with bleed is automatically top tier in it's class. Sure you could just buff everything else instead but imo bleed is too strong currently
Last night a friend and I were struggling with a certain cosmic cockroach in a certain snowy cave. Using magic weapons we kept getting wrecked but as soon as we both switched over to bleed whips, the boss went down the very next attempt!
Elleonoras only requires 17 FP because its a dive in art, once you engage there is no way back the price of extra FP as other arts is paid by blood from trading damage.
The unique ashes are so cheap probably because they have to compete with other infusable weapons. So lack of options and all that jazz. If bleed weren't so strong, it would have been just ok, and even the lower fp might still make them suboptimal choices.
I'm powerstancing daggers for my playthough, its a lot of fun! Only downside is the lack of range (to be expected), but you can shred some enemies with powerstanced daggers.
@@nox9856 Range isnt a problem, which daggers are you using? I like trying new builds, mostly melee, for some reason i dont like sorcery lol but thats the beauty of this game, you can play any way you want!
@@masanchez34 Two good early game daggers are the Giant Knife, which I think you can get from farming the beastmen in the cave on the beach in Limgrave. The other one is Reduvia, which can be found in Limgrave, both of these are good early game options. Depending if you want to go with str, dex, faith, or intelligence, I think there is a viable dagger for each one. One thing to consider if you want to use bleed or not. Bleed could be considered to be overpowered right now, but I feel that the range and the lack of poise damage counteract the advantage that bleed gives. However, I think a good third option to pick up is the Misercorde in Stormveil, it has 140 critical, and be a good weapon to switch to for backstabs, which I feel are easier to get with daggers that with other weapons. Sorry about the paragraph, this has been on my mind a lot.
@@masanchez34 I'm currently running Black Knife and Reduvia at the moment, with Misercorde in my second right hand slot for the interested critical. Only issue with this set up is that I've spread myself too thin trying to do dex, faith, and arcane all at once.
@@nox9856 I have both, ill definitely give them a try. What attributes would you prioritize? I really like the bleed in the game, i wanted to try arcane, but not sure how viable it'll be late game. Thanks!
Bleed really does need a nerf; just for the health of the meta, and variety of viable weapons. Granted we need some of the more expensive and niche stuff to be buffed as well; but bleed is just ruling the game too well, especially after the ARC scaling fix.
There are already boluses for all afflictions. They should buff everything else. Take this away from these weapons would make them useless compared to big swing damage weapons or fast pokes from lances and thrust weapons.
I wish lightning gives debuff on equipment load and stamina regen, consider irl, muscles will twitch and not work properly for a short while after getting shock by a high voltage/current source.
@@sephatu6521 Bleed was great before 1.03; and became even more powerful after. The fact that 1-2 hits is all you realistically need to insta-kill with a bleed proc is not great. This is especially bad when you take into account the netcode; where missing your opponent can still net you a bleed proc. listen; I love status builds; I used them a ton in DkS2 PvP; but the way bleed works is just too good in its current state. If it were made weaker, you'd be realistically looking to try other ailments or options; but still have the power of bleed for high health targets, as apposed to now where every duel is against a Rivers of Blood proc build.

Wouldn't a frost bleed build be better than ur recommended build for twinblades? Or is just going all out on bleed better
I know I'm late, but occult exist so that weapons with inate bleed or poison can scale their status build with your arcane. No arcane scaling, no status scaling
Was waiting on this one for s bit
Same!
Can u please make a video for the hammer/mace? Good work as always.
I was waiting for Greataxes review lul
@Youwy I thought after listening to many others who did some research on blood vs occult, there are points where enemies can’t be bled but occult has a way of increasing the ability to proc bleed. I’m trying to remember if it works on some of the enemies that don’t bleed, as occult has a work around but I’d have to look into it. It seems also that occult did have an edge for bleed builds, looking into it you may want to test the occult against bleed.
godskin peeler with blood affinity is crazy good, mine has 138 bleed and I power stance them. Makes the game stupid easy.
I like using godskin swaddling cloth cuz it is very easy to proc heals with so many hits
You can use occult for godskin peeler and use seppuku for some big AR while also getting tons of bleed
Your content is fantastic.
I've been thinking about power stancing Flails. They have a realy fun, fast moveset... they just have crap range. It would be nice to know how they rank with your testing.
very good and informative video. thank you friend
what does int really bring to the table other than frost build up?
I dont have the 19arc requirement but it seem i can fully use it any reason for that or is it something else it does that i dont have access to?
ELEONORA'S POLEBLADE AOW STUNS MALENIA ALL THE WAY THROUGH! It also poise breaks her with an extra r1. It's absurd against her. USE THIS WEAPON!
I think seppuku with occult has higher damage if you have an arcane build. So one blood weapon (rob or eleonoras) in main and one occult weapon with passive bleed in offhand.
so the b;ackblades at 655 ask is just better
unless your trying to proc bleed
Wooooow let’s go baby twinblade time
Yes, finally
Most of these are mid game not late game, late game locations are the snowy mountain and farum azula.
You forgot about Bloodflame already lol there's an incant that adds fire to your weapon and its magically capable of causing bloodloss
Eleonora's pole has that spell built in to it but its not visible its just a part of it.
Appreciate the effort
Eleonora dropped her blade on my first character but didn't drop it on my 2nd one.
I wanted to like pole blades but I can't. Think it was the lack of stagger.
Can you dual weild Eleona ?
Somehow I am getting Eleonora pole blade to 600+ AR no buffs. I have put a few points of str and seems to buff it I guess due to str scaling with fire?
That's at level 143
My next playthrough is literally delayed due to lack of your dagger video please and thanks
Great video.
Power standing jump attack does SO much bleed because it’s so many hits
I use heavy on god skin peeler because I like the pokes
You can get Eleonora's Poleblade within 2 hours of playing
2 hours? You’re capped. Unless you’re a sweaty
Bleed needs a considerable nerf. It's ridiculously easy to proc in pve & pvp...which hurts diversity cos anything with bleed is automatically top tier in it's class. Sure you could just buff everything else instead but imo bleed is too strong currently
Frost is pretty good too with a flame weapon in your other hand it’s awesome
Last night a friend and I were struggling with a certain cosmic cockroach in a certain snowy cave. Using magic weapons we kept getting wrecked but as soon as we both switched over to bleed whips, the boss went down the very next attempt!
Elleonoras only requires 17 FP because its a dive in art, once you engage there is no way back the price of extra FP as other arts is paid by blood from trading damage.
Good video. It is unfortunate that balance has always been very hit and miss within FromSoft games.
They always have items to balance it out, just like they do in this case... Use a talisman if u want less fp cost on a weapon
The unique ashes are so cheap probably because they have to compete with other infusable weapons. So lack of options and all that jazz.
If bleed weren't so strong, it would have been just ok, and even the lower fp might still make them suboptimal choices.
I built my guy just like this, but I have maxed arcane and minimum dexterity
Currently I’m running dual twin blades and it’s amazing! I’m interested in seeing daggers and claws
Thanks!
The GOAT
thank you
I am a simple man.
I see youwy ranking video I click.
Yesss I love twinblades
Sigh.. Did this guy really just try to joke about something being 6969 … 🤦🏼♂️…. I used to make 69 jokes too, then I turned 11….
I hope it’s ok that I keep plugging you on some discord servers
@@pockystyx4087 You are right. I am worried, though. Fromsoft is notorious for nerfing weapon to the point of literally unusable instead of, you know, actually balancing them.
@@leoornstein3963 but why lightning is not broken
Its sad that the basic one is so weak
Can i tell u a secret?
Twinblades need buff:"/
Not really
6969 lol now at 8.4K. 👍
no I missed the 6969
A shame the Gargoyle Twinblades are so strong, literally every other twinblade looks cooler.
