Bower paints his subjects as destabilized, de-centered and leaking systems of post-human expression. The subjects are open and infected by outside apparatuses of control and technology, distorting, doubling and showing us a truly modern subject. Art historically, Bower fuse's abstraction, Op Art, figuration and portraiture to achieve such lacerating and vibratory affect within the viewer. His painting is disturbing, yet has a genuflecting and redeeming beauty in a truly 'post-human' world"
