Hey Dereck, Had no idea JR. WALKER played sax on URGENT. Although he was obviously not known for playing the sax, and I am not saying he was great at it, but when he did play it and it was not often, I always enjoyed the sound of DAVID BOWIE playing sax. Take care Dereck
Thanks sir you've got me spinning some Laurie Anderson this a.m. The voice of a goddess...Mr Heartbreak opened my mind in the early 80's and then rediscovered and really dug Big Science during the grey times of covid.
I love Andy Mackays sax contributions to Roxy Music and especially his work in their later career. His part at the end of Over You is especially beautiful
You may have already seen this article Dereck but I'm sure you'll find this very interesting. It's in The Quietus, I'm not sure that a link will get through so here is the title: Uneasy on the Ear: An Interview with Lola De La Mata. On tinnitus, art process and the scientific method. Here is an excerpt talking about how scientists were able to record the tinnitus from De La Mata's ears “The NHS definition is that it’s a phantom sound that your brain is creating, that it isn’t something ‘real’, so you should try to ignore it.” By having De La Mata place her ear into an anechoic chamber, with an ultra-sensitive microphone perched in her ear canal, they were able to provide significant evidence to the contrary. “After the first recording of it, it was ‘There’s no way, this isn’t possible.’” They tried again with her breath held, and again with her tensing her ears, and again with other members of staff, but each time it became apparent that yes, the noises De La Mata hears are seemingly something physical. More intriguingly still, the two women whose ears were recorded, De La Mata and Lana Norris - the musicologist whose voice appears on the album’s ‘PINK Noise’, and who is also a choral director - were the only two people whose ears were found to produce spontaneous otoacoustic emissions. “It’s something to do with hormone difference, but they don’t really know why,” De La Mata says. Present in most children but believed to fade over time, they’re also found far more in musicians than in other adults, for reasons yet unknown. It all raises a lot of questions. “What I have is tinnitus by the definition we have now, but maybe that’s not correct. Maybe it’s something else,” De La Mata wonders aloud. Made me think of you, a fascinating read. Cheers D ❤
You have very high standard's musically, in my opinion. I think that show's up clearly in the work you create. It's a very honest way to be, in my opinion. Cheers!
Still got a few TC records myself. The press agent even used a review quote of mine from Grim Humour in the accompany promo sheet for the first LP, I believe! I enjoyed their later dub-infused material, too.
It's fun trying to I.D. albums based on the ~ 1" square I see in my preview scroll. Did it for that Thirsty Moon lp today. I agree that any of their other lps were better.

We are either like our parents or we completely reject them, which means we have traits we distinctly dislike about them.
great show

I agree, writer's block means nothing to me. Sometimes we're on input mode, sometimes output. It's all good to me.
I appreciate these videos so much man

Chris Potter on Sax is amazing, he plays at sf jazz and village vanguard a lot, he’s only 51 , have you heard his music Dereck? So good
For the record I also disliked the sax due to the pop influence ruining it I’d say
Though hearing jazz musicians play it makes it all better
Yes.

Thé World IS Silly, listen music and kiff
That’s funny, the other day I was just digging deeper into the Motels, and that sax on Only The Lonely 🫤
That sax is decent.
