I'm pretty sure it is highly illegal to perform surgery on a patient who refuses to give consent. You can try to talk the patient into it but if they say no, it's NO.
Considering the suicide attempt, I imagine a patient could be deemed to have compromised judgment, and be held on suicide watch. Just speculation though, my theory crafting is in no way legal advice

That hugh evil smile showed me that she was really enjoying seeing me in pain. That was the day I realized that the devil had successfully turned her heart completely black.

Parents, please don't put your children on SSRIs during puberty, the psychological side effects aren't worth putting your kids on drugs as punishment for behaviors you don't like unless the behavior is harming them or someone else. Take my word for it, SSRIs are dangerous during puberty!
There is a warning on medication and psychiatrists usually avoid giving children or under 18’s SSRI’s, tricyclic antidepressants as well as anti-psychotics due to the risk of suicidal thoughts. If the psychiatrist does end up prescribing those kinds of medications, it’s because the benefits may outweigh the risk, if the symptoms of that mental health condition is so severe. Usually a psychiatrist would have a follow up appointments with those on medication. I’m really sorry you had a difficult experience, and I hope you are doing well. I personally was put on SSRI’s at 11, and then changed to Tricyclic antidepressants when 14, as my OCD symptoms were so extreme that they were affecting me going out the house. I was also warned of possible side effects as you explained you experienced. I wish you well with your mental health and you recovery. Thank you for sharing your story.

People are very ignorant of the fact that you can request financial assistance from the hospital. I was admitted for septic pneumonia and had no insurance. Several 10s of thousands for a 1 week stay. I contacted the financial office of the hospital and got the bill reduced to about $1200. Those were good the actual doctor's fees, the individual doctor's offices wouldn't work with my to lower the bill, but let me pay small affordable amounts for as long as necessary. You need to ask. There are a ton of charities out there too. Ask for a hospital social worker or patient advocate.

I stayed in hospital for 3 days and had constant painkillers including morphine I pressed a button for every few mins. My bill was a grand total of 0 including follow ups, casts, boots, crutches, x rays, physio and home equipment. Free healthcare should be universal.
God this dialogue is so hollow and cheesy. Written to push the mainstream ideology towards suicide, instead of the actual experience of suicidal people. I've spoken with countless suicidal people over the years and I can't say I've ever once heard anyone talk about it the way that doctor does. Also, media loves to push the image of the suicidal person who unfairly hates themself, when my observation's been that most suicidal people attempt suicide because they hate the world around them.

It doesn't work like that for some people. Some suicide victims don't have family, or pretty much most of their family doesn't care, until their gone. They don't notice sings, don't do anything until it too little too late. You don't have to live for someone. You either have to live for yourself, or you don't live at all. You was brought by someone to this world yes, but you shouldn't live for their sake, but for your own only

I think if the patient was labled as insane or unable to make propwr judgment they might be able to operate
