Using a sword to "knight" a person is a demonstration of fealty. The knight is pledging life and loyalty. Their life is placed in the kings hand, who spares them.

Ohhh, that is so cool. It has so much symbolism, that is awesome!

I have a reason for the sword, when John was trapping Robin.
In the time of knights, the one who was performing the ceremony (usually a noble of some kind) would touch the knight on the shoulders and head. This was a symbolic gesture that this was the last time the knight would let a sword touch them and not respond with force.
You're also right on the money with Prince John's design. Everything about his design is to convey that he is small and immature. From the clothes, sucking his thumb, up to the point he doesn't even have a mane.
I can also give a solid reason why Robin is so charming. This portrayal of the character was heavily inspired by Errol Flynn. Who (in his time) was considered one of the most charming and charismatic actors in hollywood.

Yeah, I think this movie hold a deeper message for people who were born in the 1900s but even then, the movie was amazing even tho I didn't understand it as well 😄

Historical Fact: Eleanor of Aquitaine was the mother of Richard and John, and she really did favor Richard more since he was originally going to be ruling her inherited kingdom of Aquitaine.

4:35 This scene is one of many references to Disney’s Jungle Book. The snake is even voiced by the same actor, just like how Little John, a bear, is the same voice for Baloo, from The Jungle Book.

Re-using old animation has been a staple for decades in old school hand drawn animation, because it takes ages to animate.

2:02 This was how old movies did the intro, this was harking back to the first forms of film making as a way of introducing the cast and crew... it went away in like the 70s, and was only replaced with a short intro and then end titles with all the personal involved in it.

They should bring it back, they need to give credit where credit is due, animation is so hard and the people who work on it are not appreciated nearly enough.

    1:36 Yes
7:00 You know it would make a lot of sense if Prince John was two years old since he doesn’t have a mane.
8:30 OMG Yes, I loved The Fox and the Hound so much when I was a kid. You should totally do reaction video on that.
Did you know that there was an alternate version of the final battle where Robin Hood gets injured after he escaped from the castle. Little John rescued him and carried him off with Prince John and his men following them. They managed to find Robin Hood in the church with Maid Marian tending to him. Then Prince John tries to kill Robin Hood himself but he’s then stopped by King Richard who had came back from his crusade. He then scolds Prince John and takes back his crown. This was cut from the final film because the directors felt it was too dark and out of character for Prince John to go out and kill Robin Hood himself since he’s a sniffling coward and a mama’s boy.

OMG really, if they kept that ending, that would have been so bad ass. I would have been so shocked, but so engaged 😆

I've read about Robin Hood on Wikipedia wondering if it was just foxxy, English Robin Hood we all fancied - NO - The man was irresistible!! - He was brave, altruistic, had a heart of gold, was an exceptionally skilled swordsman and bowman (I love a man with talent!), and he stood up for the little guys. He 'robbed' the rich to feed the poor. He was an absolute hero. I've always been the one who liked the good men.

I was very young when I saw it. Beautifully drawn, not so bright, of course, compared to modern cartoons
The music and the dialogues, and of course the love story, are wonderful. One of those cartoons that are classics for me (+ The Walking Castle, The Return of the Cat and Princess Mononoke and Gone with the Ghosts) that I will definitely show to my children.

*chuckles at taking back watching the kissing booth if this video gets 50 likes.* I was just going to say that with my earlier like we were sitting at 50 likes. Though to be fair, I'm more excited about the 30 likes statement for the Fox and the Hound earlier.
