The GMs, fishbowl or deck, were easier to shift if you floated the gears. Saved my knee... I could upshift and downshift not using the clutch, just listening to the engine. Retired now after 38 years.

Boy do I remember the double clutch on the SEPTA 3900 series. And I was in the shop moving them back in '84. But, boy I miss them fishbowls. Pain in a but @ times; yes. But once they move, they MOVE!😊

Also don't forget, with those Muncie transmissions, if you did not get the perfect timing towards reverse, the shifter would jam requiring the removal of the transmission to reset. I was a mechanic for 10 years, lost count of how many times this happened either with GM or MCI coaches!!

Were the GM solenoids 24 volts? I recall one not working. Needed a second person to push on the solenoid in the back while i went for it up front.

Eagles' reverse solenoids were 12 volts and to get reverse in them, had to 'goose' the engine to get the full 12 volts. This was on the Eagle 05s
