Hey, thank you so much for playing my Changing Gravity level! 😊 I truly appreciate it!
And now it's time for a little segment which I call...
    🛠️ Wellar's Level Breakdown! 🛠️
This is my very first level that I ever created, the second to be uploaded. When I was working on this, I was still familiarizing myself with the menus and creating levels as an overall. I don't remember how I came up with the changing gravity theme, but I remember coming up with the idea of being able to switch between the two just by entering a pipe. Nothing too fancy.
I wanted to give off the feeling of being in the same area when you switched gravity, hence why I had certain sections (almost) replicated between the overworld and the sub-world.
The sections at 1:22 to 1:50 was heavily inspired by the Story Mode level, "Big Showdown on a Little Star", because you'll notice that there's a distinct similarity between those two levels. Looking at them now, I feel I could've been a bit more creative with those sections.
I used tracks and P-Switch doors as "ghost" checkpoints and regular doors respectively that you can only access when you switched gravity. And I felt very clever hiding the secret room above the first checkpoint; it's out of the way, but easy to find and access if you know where to look. 😉
The secret boss with the two Hammer Bros. guards at 2:38 originally had the ceiling away too low, making it for a bit of a tight squeeze, with the reward room on top of it, so I moved the bonus room to another section of the level and raised the ceiling of the secret boss room.
This section here at 3:20 has you face an army of Koopas and Spike Tops when you get to the top. (Pun not intended.) Seeing this bit of the level now, there's no way that anyone's gonna know what's up there unless you know it beforehand; you'll end up losing your power-up this way. It would've been better if I had shifted them back a bit and reduced the line of enemies. And maybe replace the Spike Tops with Spinies, because before, I didn't know you couldn't defeat Spike Tops with fireballs.
The boss battle with Roy had red pipes on the ceiling and floor to give the feeling of him peeking and popping out of them. Originally, it didn't have those pipes and the room was once again too narrow, so I had to completely revamped the room so that it was a bit easier before I uploaded it.
This level has definitely improved as I worked on it, but I still feel it could have use a few more improvements. But hey, at the time, I was still learning how to make good levels, and for a first time, it not bad at all! 😄
It was funny how you played the sound effect at 1:10 over and over again until you got the secret variant. 🤣 Thank you again for playing my level, Luny. I'm glad you enjoyed it! ☺️👍🏼 I can't wait for you see to how I've improved my level-making skills over time!

Cool! This time, it's a complete breakdown of your own level. 🛠
I can relate as my first ever level in Mario Maker 1 was very rough. The first level I ever made was also not fun to play. But it's a different case in SMM2 as I already had experience from SMM1 and learned from most of my mistakes to create my first SMM2 level, the Goomba Forest Temple.
It's understandable that some players can get easily caught off-guard from impending doom with the Koopa ambush after jumping from those trampolines. I did see a few players struggle with the careful jumps in the low-gravity area, judging from their randomish comments.
Neat idea with the boss room for Roy. I've seen a similar concept before, and it's an undeniably appropriate setup for Roy who digs down then peeks from out of nowhere then popping out of them. A room full of pipes looks best.
Glad you enjoyed those funny little shenanigans that I apply with my gameplay and videos. 😆 I'm glad someone appreciates them. Hey, you're welcome and good job with your first level too. 👍🏻

Why, thank you for the compliments! Yeah, I plan on Wellar's Level Breakdown being a thing on some of my levels in the future! 😁 I always enjoyed watching other people play some of my levels, especially your videos, and seeing what they think of it, and what they like and don't like about it. This feedback is used to help improve my levels and make them even more enjoyable! 😊
Also, I did not know you played Super Mario Maker for the Wii U! Pretty cool! I have never played the first game, and I wasn't familiar with the series itself until I started playing Super Mario Maker 2. Over time, I became better at making levels, and now I'd say I'm pretty good at creating traditional levels.
The second level that I made, which is the actually the first level to be uploaded, is an Auto-Mario level titled "Super Auto-Mario Bros." This was my first time creating an Auto-Mario level, which I'll share at some point. While it was not bad, it's a bit slow in pacing, which isn't necessarily bad, depending on who you're talking to.
One more thing is that, and I'll say it again, your videos showcasing some of the levels and Super Worlds out there have been one of the sources of inspiration for my levels, and that I'm truly thankful for. I can't wait to see what other levels and Super Worlds you'll showcase, and I'm looking forward to sharing more levels with you. 👍🏼

You're welcome. 😄 I enjoy reading the analysis of the viewer on what they think about the level itself, because the showcase of the level is what matters in the video I uploaded.
I have plenty of experience in Mario Maker 1 and that's why I already used some of my own ideas from my own levels in SMM1 which I carried over to SMM2. I also had plenty of experience playing some crazy tough levels in SMM1 but there were still a bunch of levels back then that are way beyond my skill. 😅
If you enjoy creating traditional levels then keep it up! I enjoy playing traditional levels of all difficulties. The adventure and exploration is what I look forward to in the levels. Oh I'm not good at making auto levels, lol. And I don't think I frequently feature auto levels because they don't bring much of a challenge. 😅
Hey thank you for the kind words, Wellar! Your words will help inspire me to make more videos hence I'll be choosing a wider variety of levels to showcase which all of you will be able to watch and review. 😊 Super World projects are harder to do, but maybe I could start another Super World showcase project sometime in the future. Oh I look forward to those levels too, sounds good. 👍🏻

@@LunyRem Hey, cool to hear that my comment gives you motivation to keep doing these showcases! 😊 And thank you for giving me a bit of motivation to keep making these levels! Who knows, I might try to expand into different genres. 😉
Speaking of, I don't know if you already recorded this level, but I want to submit this just in case.
      Level: The POWening
      Maker: Mr Sparky
      ID: 8MJ-50V-M8G
This is another 9MMC level that involves POWs. Haven't played it yet, so I don't really know a whole lot about it. Hopefully, it's a breath of fresh air from the no-damage airship level from yesterday.

A nice traditional level using the sub-world night sky gimmick to create a parallel world as player would have switch back and forth to progress. Jumping on the Koopas and the two boss rooms are what makes the course on moderate difficulty. GG

Thanks, Josh! 😊 As mentioned in the pinned comment, this is my first level that I created, the second to be uploaded, and I wanted to create a level where it looks like you're in the same area as you switch between the different gravities.
Jumping on the giant red Koopas was heavily inspired from the Story Mode level, "Big Showdown on a Little Star", and the designs for the boss battles are pretty decent. Glad you enjoyed it! 😄👍🏼

I was thinking to myself that this level has many traits of a certain era of SMM development, then I noticed the 2021 creation date. I wouldn't think it necessary to look too deeply into the evolution of the SMM community as a whole, but I would say that one could see some interesting trends as ideas came into being, were adopted, grew in sophistication, were emulated endlessly, and faded away. I like the parallel world concept and this level goes against the puzzle room trend the concept usually followed. It's a nice classic platforming level with a little room for polish and very open for players of any skill, a good design for the self-described novice (at the time) maker. Wellar has already provided a thorough and thoughtful critique to this conversation and I don't see anything else to add. Well done, Wellar, and well played, LunyRem.

Thank you, samuraian! I'm glad you enjoyed the level!
With some of the levels that I create, sometimes I look to think of ideas that no one else has thought of.
I've been considering doing a remake of this level at some point, although currently, I have no idea when. 🤔

@@Wellar05 It is an exercise of some worth (IMHO) to remake a level to see how much difference some experience makes. That being said, I once took a second shot at a flawed signature level I made and was not pleased with the results, so I haven't revisited any of the others. But I'm also constrained by time and interest of a fickle group and no one wants to watch me hash out bugs in a level editor.

Am sorry to hear that your revised level didn't work out. Like you said, it takes practice to create a good remake of a level.
I'll definitely give it a shot when I do so. I may have to build the entire thing from scratch, but it'll give me a bit more space to spruce up some sections that I feel could be reworked than if I just copied the level and build in a potentially constrained space.

@@Wellar05 I don't know if this is useful or not, but in doing my remake I added several new ideas I had not tested to the design and I mistakenly assumed I didn't need the same amount of playtesting since I was just improving on the old level. I should have treated it like a completely new level and been more thorough. Just plain hubris on my part.

    • @Wellar05

Whenever I add or make changes to a level, I always playtest that part again a few times just to make sure it works properly and that it doesn't have any cheese or other way to break the level.
I appreciate the tip, though, so thanks, Samuraian.
