i almost got teary eyed watching the last moments we get to see mrs. Kes. It is unfortunate and sad that she has not returned again to see her brood survive to adulthood. So heartbreaking to see Mrs. Kes in a distressed state and uncharacteristically disoriented; like something was attacking her from the inside out. Hallmarks of a festering infection taking hold. I don't think she had the strength to fly back to the nest after her final attempt at relief, probably to get water. She was an absolutely fantastic, devoted mum. Thank you REF for helping her legacy live on, both in video and with her babies. ❤

I live quite close to Robert Fuller's gallery in Thixendale. He's an amazing artist as well as a phenomenal advocate for wildlife in his area.
Every time I visit his gallery, I leave with a lot less money than when I arrived. But driving round the area around the gallery, what strikes you is the sheer wealth of wildlife: one night I saw 4 different Barn Owls within 3 miles of his home and that is almost certainly due to his custodianship.
The man deserves an award for his work.

I met Barry Hines many times when he visited my school to talk about his famous book ('A Kestrel for a Knave') The book, and the film, is a classic and has ensured that millions of people have a greater understanding of this type of bird. I remember asking Mr Hines, 'Were any birds harmed during the making of the film?' and he assured me that the dead bird at the end was 'made' specially by the props department! Thanks for your amazing video; almost as good as the one by Ken Loach!!

It’s amazing how we get so attached to a wild bird but we can’t help it when we see how special they are. Hopefully Mr Kes finds a equal partner next year

@@RobertEFuller I agree with what you say. The Kestrels have invaded my heart to stay there. In particular Mrs Kes was, and Mr Kes is so very special to me. Every time I see any of them something happens in my heart and chest.❣❤ My love for animals and nature is huge and profound. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment!💐

As sad as Mrs kes disappearance was, it was truly amazing to watch the will to live kick in and with your hard work Robert along with the amazing Mr kes learning to feed his babies and even brood, well it was just something ill never forget. Something that will stay with me for life, losing your mate but having 6 chick's needing you or being a new chick suddenly losing you're mother- we can all learn so much from these amazing birds.
