In case you are interested and want to know more... Both Curt and Roland had difficult relationships with their fathers. Roland's father was largely absent from his childhood due to a breakdown when Roland was 3yo. The *Woman in Chains* of that song is partly his mother whom his father abused extensively. Mrs O left him when Roland was 7yo, smuggling the children out of the home early one morning. It was the 'Primal Scream' therapy of psychotherapist Arthur Janov, whose work Curt and Roland were both enchanted by (ref the book Curt talks of here) that spawned the name Tears For Fears. Primal Therapy encourages the patient to explore childhood traumas, experiencing them for a second time and then expressing the long-repressed pain. One way to release this pain is the primal scream. The entire album, _The Hurting_ was a way to take those feelings of abandonment, rejection and anger and turn them into something autobiographical and proactive. Pale Shelter is a good example - their fathers gave them no love, only 'pale shelter'.

There are 200,000 new 'songs' uploaded to RUclips every day. I spend my God-waking hours listening to as many as I can to try and find somebody to celebrate and reverse this foundation on celebrity, which we are all dying of. I frequently go back to Tears.
They were both very good looking and sexy in my opinion. But they were down to earth and intelligent not looking for attention. So people probably didn't see them that way.
It happens in the other way with a-ha. All of them wanted to be seen as “equals” to everyone, they wanted to be appreciated as honest, humble and smart but I think that most of the people didn’t see them like that. People were only interested in how they looked. For fans, they were/are “boy pop band”. Just some bunch of pretty faces. Curt and Roland are also so adorable and handsome but many don’t like how they look because (and I’m quoting): “they are not as pretty as a-ha”. But for Curt and Roland it’s a thing they are not concerned about. So yes, I kinda hate this popularity only because how handsome is someone.
TFF was my break into music appreciation in my teens with shout. The rest is history for me. Still to this day shout is “ my tune “ and pale shelter a very close second.
