Stoke Level Crossing

- A Class 66 in Great British Rail Freight livery towing a rake of aggregate wagons heads past the gated off Stoke level crossing towards the Isle of Grain Thamesport. This crossing is still active and has been since 2012 when the flyover to the south was built. The crossing is still mainly as it was when it was put in with new equipment back in the 1990s, albeit with some fresh light borders. Fresh. The bridge around the crossing is an oddity as this line is rarely used and there are hardly any pedestrians, so any accidents were unlikely. However, the A228 on the Hoo Peninsula was famed for being a dangerous road with around 20 deaths since 2000 and this was a quite bendy stretch through the crossing. From the North Medway Bypass, new bridges, new bypasses, new dual carriageway and a six mile 40 mph speed limit with average speed cameras has improved safety from the beginning of the 21st century. This is the main and only road to the huge industrial complex of Grain, and with the mass of HGVs speed limits and safety is needed. However despite being bypassed the crossing has only recently (at the time of filming) received permeant metal gates blocking it off, after six years of still being open. It will soon close and the equipment go to a training school I hear. Shame, it will be another feature gone from this great road. Still, this is the first video of it on the internet. Yay.

Nice one! You managed to get a closure :)
They've found a new way to reduce level crossing misuse, I see.

Lolololololololololololololololololololol
ive been waiting for this video
Surely won't be long until that crossing is gone
Nice one Nathan 👍👍, it's a shame this crossing is no longer here
Great video! Shame the crossing was closed, though odd the signals haven't been deactivated yet!
My guess is probably they only use it for business vehicles such as trucks
Nice railroad crossing!
Greetings from Tokyo Japan :-)
It's odd that the crossing is still wired up!
Not for much longer though
How'd you know a train was coming?
I thought most trains here run at night!
I was here at 10am for a train that was activated in the system to be shown as running but it never came. Luckily this one from London was also activated an hour later and I knew for sure it would come. I think it was the same one that I caught a Grain crossing a while ago.
I don't understand why this crossing still works unless it's becouse if someone is doing work on it and they have to open them gates the crossing still works for that reason maybe I don't know.
The gates have only been there a few weeks the equipment may be gone soon
