I remember seeing something similar in a National Geographic magazine... (do you have those in the Netherlands?) That particular magazine was in among a collection of old National Geographics from the 1930's that was donated to my high school. The trailer and towing vehicle were I think a little different and were meant to be used for a photographic expedition (I remember photos of the truck/trailer on a dirt mountain road) Smart business man that owned the one you saw, he perhaps he decided he could live farther away in a nicer countryside environment if he simply did some of his normal morning routine on the road. He may have gotten up at a normal time, got dressed and had his breakfast and read his morning paper on the road! Long Island is not that far from Manhattan, I'm sure he was refreshed and ready for work when he stepped out of his land yacht!
Sure we got N G overhere , even in Dutch , I just looked on YT to find out more about Mr. Curtiss , there;s another vid and that guy talks about the system with the spare wheel , how smooth it rides , same type of trailer , aircraft-style , almost no frame , just wires. , must have cost a bit in those days , not sure how long Mr Louwman got it , the plates last change of owner was in 92 I believe.
dutchurbanminer Yes, I believe it may have been a International House Car that the National Geographic team was using, I never forgot how cool that particular setup was, they added some some sort of streamlined hinged panels between the cab and the trailer to make the combination even more aerodynamic, but I think it was a variation of the House Car
This is incredible. Thank you for sharing
That was my great uncle that made this trailer
That's amazing! Did you ever visit the Curtiss mansion in Miami springs?
Just found your video! Thank you for uploading this; wonderful!

Almost as cool as the VW fifth wheel style trailer
even more fun that VW , doing a 360 under your trailer...
LOVE this. Thank you !!!
Young or old , people smile when they see this trailer , Thanks for watching.

I have heard of a rumble seat but not a dickey seat.
Somebody overhere called him,,dickey''....
dutchurbanminer I guess it depends on where you live. lol
Maybe a dickey seat is for ladies?
And where is the butler's quarters?
There"s Always space for him underneath the trailer.... loL... Merry Christmas.
That'll be right. Merry Christmas too!
