07 Audi Q7 TPMS Antenna location, replacement. 2008 2009 2007
I took apart and inspected the antenna and found internal water damage.
I attempted to fix it I but don't have microsoldering equipment.
I purchased an A8 Antenna 4E0 907 277 because it was only $8 to see if it would work. The ECM said it did not understand its protocol which assured me my original antenna was actually bad as the ECM said it could not communicate with my original one. So I bought the correct antenna 8E0 907 277 off ebay.
After further inspection of the 8E0 antenna I noticed the weep hole isn't doing what it is supposed to do and instead is allowing water into the antenna. As all the major water damage is at the weep hole. Also Audi drilled a hole through the circuit board at the weep hole which allows water to go through and corrode the other side. I used a glue gun stick to seal the weep hole area.

Thank you very much! My module arrives tomorrow for my 2007 q7. If that doesn't work I will be buying the antenna next.
why did you buy the module before checking the PCM to see if the module was bad or just couldnt read the antenna? almost certainly its the antenna after seeing the dumb design of the weep holes on them...
@@bobspurloc I was always taught to start with the least expensive part before moving on to the more expensive options. The module costed me $20. The antenna will cost me $80 from the same vendor. I can always return whichever option that doesn't work.
As of now I know that all my tire sensors are transmitting. It's just the dumb ass light on the dash that won't go away. I've only had the car for two months and it was on when I bought it.
Fingers crossed... ;-)
oh I figured the module was way more expensive. Oh new owner to this Q7. well you may not want to do what I tell you next but if you dont you are going to lose your MMI Bose amp Radio well everything thats controlled through the MMI. first not as important but important. you need to make sure you front drains arent clogged. this is an easy task. letting front drains clogged will take out random electronics in the front ruclips.net/video/ddcZmOWbPgE/видео.html here is the rear drains, they dont clog they have their upper coupling detach due to a dumb design of drain ONTO the down tubes instead of INTO the tubes being a 2007 is almost a 100% issue with your Q7 right now and if it wasnt fix this will 100% happen soon. open the rear and pull out the spare tire if you see any wetness you must take care of this asap or like I said you will lose the MMI due to the bose amp and other components in the right rear wall are going to short out from the drain above them dripping onto them. note Im not taking about the bass speaker system in the spare tire im talking right rear walling. you need to drop the rear ceiling and repair the coupling to drain into the down tubes. my video isnt the greatest of how to drop the ceiling but I have a solid way to fix it ruclips.net/video/SPrD9Jfqy_s/видео.html
another note.... lol. it's not a good idea to throw parts at an Audi hoping it's the issue. u will go broke fast lol. you can browse my videos for Q7 to see common things that can happen. your brake switch will start faulting sooner or later. problem is the car is not going to tell you the brake switch is faulting. its going to go into limp mode. its going to refuse to switch gears. its going to flash the ESP light. its going to show signs the battery is bad. its going to have random things pop up are failing. and if you start throwing parts you will spend 1000's trying to resolve something that isnt wrong. what happens is the brake switch starts to go bad. the car thinks you have your foot on the brake. it will drain the battery. when they battery is low voltage random modules start failing. if u notice the battery is low, you will think gee I will just charge it... the drain will be like 5+ amp's so a trickle charger wont make a different lol. a 5amp quick charge wont make a different lol. anyway its just things to know its a nice car.
So what's the part number you used to replace the water damaged antenna for tire monitoring R96 code 01833 ? And what other Audi or Volkswagen vehicles have same unit or plug and play compatible unit which works this correcting that issue ??????
that answer to both of those questions are in the videos description I think. 07 Audi Q7 TPMS Antenna location, replacement. 2008 2009 2007

Useful stuff. Thanks man!
Hope it helps you out.
Hi, thanks for the video. Did the TPMS light go away automatically right away, or did you have to drive the car around for a while, or did you have to reset it through software? I just replaced the antenna and drove for 5 minutes and the light is still on.
I actually don't remember. I don't think I reset it with software. did you check and make sure you had the same error that showed an antenna error? I would have known my antenna was bad without software as the Costco tire guy went to each tire and showed each sensor had good battery voltage and he could read each one. I think I did go into the settings on the car and told it to recheck the tires. I think car has to be in park for that menu to be selectable.
I don't have the software, so a tire shop told me my TPMS sensors are good, so it's either the antenna or the TPMS module ($500 part). I picked up a used antenna on ebay for the half the price of a new one, but it didn't work, I popped it open and it was just as corroded as my old antenna, so I have a brand new one coming in tomorrow, will give it a try, I really hope it's just an antenna, not the $500 module. thanks for your video.
Oh also make sure the antenna is not the part number for an A8. The antenna looks identical but is not the same. the A8 uses 4 I think one for each tire so it knows which is bad. he A8 wont work with the Q7 it will get a communication error.
just put in a brand new antenna. with ignition on clicked "change wheels", TPMS light went away, the smile on my face was worth a million, thank you very much for your video and responses.
great to hear! it's good info because everyone blames the sensors when these things get corroded.
Hello Bob. Are you able to tell me where the connector for this antenna goes. I have the antenna but the connector is broken. I purchased a new 4pin pigtail with the intention for soldering the wires together but there is no wire. In order to understand where I can go from here, I would like to know where this connection is going. Is there a hole? Can you help me find where it’s attached to? Thanks
im not sure what you are asking. are you saying 1 of the 4 pins is missing in the antenna and want to know where it connects???? if you are, you are better off getting a used antenna because that question implies you dont have the capacity to repair a pin since that answer is quite obvious. 2 top go to one side of the board 2 botom go to the other, i mean if u opened it that is about the only answer possible. but the antenna is most likely too water damaged to repair. beyond that I dont know what else there is to ask.
@@bobspurloc I’m not really a car person, I’m just trying to do some diy stuff. It’s too bad I can’t post a picture. So, the antenna goes into that bracket and it’s then connected to the harness type wire situation. Mine has yellow, white and brown cables. However, the wires were broken so I assumed that I needed to reconnect them to something. I don’t see anything. Is it not supposed to be connected to the car in some way? I don’t know what I’m look at, so I don’t know where to go from there.
didnt I show that in the video?
@@bobspurloc No, but thanks for your help. I’ll continue doing some more research.
@@keepingupwithkady3517 I think you mean they rusted off the connector to the antenna. you will have to most likely get a new replacement cable. if you got one from a junk yard it can be cut 5" from the connector and you will have all the correct colors there. but would have to solder the wires or at worse twist them yellow to yellow etc but make sure to tape each one tightly to stop water getting in as they will just rust out again.
Has your TPMS fault code 01833 been resolved with the replacement 8E0 part?
Yes. all good now. I think in the video I show I sealed the new antenna's weep hole so water wont get into it. To make it clear faster I told the car to check all pressures, then I told the car I changed all my tires. then the code vanished. I haven't checked it through vagcom to see if it actually reads temperatures and batteries. The Coscto tire center dude checked all my valves with his tool and they all showed good battery levels.
bobspurloc thanks for the followup. I opened up my antenna last night and saw the same damage as yours had. I ordered another one from eBay. It's used, so I'm crossing my fingers.
nice. if you seal up the weep hole like I did note when I filled that center area the hold clip slightly dips into that area so I had to squish the hot glue I used deeper to get the clip to reach the other side. I really think there is no need for that weep hole especially since the A8 antennas don't have them.

Audi Q7 key remotes only work when I'm literally right next to the door...?
what's your key remote have to do with the TPMS antenna? sounds like low battery. have you put new batteries in? I believe replacing battery needs a relearn I made a video ruclips.net/video/qBwzY4iImSY/видео.html
Привет подскажи если не работает антенна то на mmi строка система контроля давления в шинах не будет работать?
if the antenna is damaged like mine it could cause the MMI to not work for tire pressure. in fact it cant work because it cant know the tire pressures.
The only way to check the antenna is to take it apart and see if its corroded. If you have the proper audi software, the error codes will tell you if it cant communicate with the antenna, or cant see a tire. there are also scanners that you can put near each wheel to test if a sensor is dead.
What is the part number?
right in the words below video... "So I bought the correct antenna 8E0 907 277 off ebay."
what year is this?
This is an 07. Ebay seems to say these are through 2011
Do you know where the tpms module is located?
the video shows that
@@bobspurloc that's the antenna. I'm asking about the control module
OH... sorry ;) no I'm not sure where it is although I think I may be able to find a diagram that might

Same model for most bmws too
with the weep hole to allow water in to corrode them too?
bobspurloc yeah same exact module just a bmw logo on it
lame design. but it seems a lot of stuff is designed to work up till the warranty runs out
Yup...same exact corrosion issues with the BMW ones at the stupid weephole too!
DESIGNED TO FAIL AS BUSINESS MODEL
How else are they to fleece their customers for parts later??
Garbage after 80K miles or so. Same for bmw. I know those 2 brands from regretable personal experience. Im guessing all euro and american brands. My japanese cars in HS & college went fast enough to stay out of trouble, and cost me nearly nothing in parts over 4 years each.
I have 180k on this q7, however its presently been parked the last 2 years because I cant figure out low oil issue. not sure if I spun a bearing or the oil pump is shot. oil pump of course is back of engine pinned against firewall.
