As a knife maker please do not use any of these methods of sharpening.....they are dangerous and they will do nothing but ruin any kind of blade you have
@@kalleklp7291 Perhaps you should make a video on this topic. I would love to learn a real way to sharpen knives. How do you sharpen with stones? Like a whetstone?
Hey einstein, contact cement needs applied to both surfaces in a thin coat. Let dry to touch for about 5 min then press together and it is a crazy strong bond. Warm the glue with a hair dryer for an even better bond.
Seriously? A portable sharpener... ANY portable sharpener would work better and do less damage to the blade. Spend a couple bucks and get a pocket whetstone.
Taking such care with knives limits what you are willing to do with it. IE: make a pilot hole for tent pegs when the dirt is too hard to push or hit them in or dig holes when without a proper digging tool 🤠 I keep a flat bastard file attached to the sheath so a few quick files strokes has the knife sharp again I deliberately keep a burr on the blade - yes I can shve with such a blade
Does anyone happen to notice the quality of knives he uses? This is absolutely amazing and wonderful in a pinch camping or if u have to sharpen a disposable blade. If someone needs to be told not to do these to any thing you value as a daily blade then they don't deserve to be told not to. J/S.
Hehe. Russian Guy sharpens russian steel 🤣> I don' t mean to offend anyone... Having cheap knife built of inferior grade of steel, that is becoming dull very quickly... You don't pay too much attention to"ruining your blade:;. Your just try to restore the sharpnes ASAP and effortless and quickly. 🤣 If your knife die...just drop it and take the new one one
A store that has sharpening stones are not always readily available. Sometimes a person is pressed for time and in need of getting a project finished and it's cheaper to buy a new tool at a later date.
These hard plastic CD are not designed for impact and should it break, the flinging crack plastic are dangerous as hand grinder typically spin at up to 10'000 RPM, the centrifugal fling force with the cracked CD sharpel are extremely dangerous! Just buy a sanding disc pad designed for a disc grinder and you can sharpen your knife with great safety. Lastly do not remove the safety guard as it is designed to prevent cracked disc from hitting U. U can sell these CD discs to your local recycling center! SAFETY FIRST AND REALLY BUY A SANDING DISC DESIGNED FOR DISC GRINDER! It is very competitively price and safe!
Badly ruined knives will benefit though. I especially like the simple thing of a cut through some pvc tubing in order to keep the same angle when learning to sharpen knives on a good stone. As a beginner, first timer, most of the reason of why people fail is in keeping the same angle throughout the process. This helps with that, on small stones even.
@CreativeHacker7 you should be sued, telling people to use cds on angle grinders. I wonder how many people have been hurt from your dangerous misinformation.
100 rotations per minute at most and even then it's not safe at all as the plastic is far less strong than the knive's steel. I would never try this, it's an extremely stupid hack.

@CreativeHacker7 I studied metalworking for 6 years. now I'm doing it with software... That machine you used would tear my arm off. You use it without taking any precautions. Those disks are so fragile that they have a very high potential to damage the user.
Great idea! I was looking for a more efficient way to fling a broken piece of CD shrapnel into my carotid artery, this will be super helpful! Sarcasm aside, never put something onto an angle grinder that’s not designed to go on an angle grinder. Wildly irresponsible of these idiot RUclipsrs to have this as a thumbnail

Do you see how the knifes look like they were dulled on purpose?
when they first show the knife

Exactly! Learn how to sharpen with stones and polish the edge afterward. That's the only recommended way.

There's a reason people have been using whetstones for thousands of years.
