Well hot damn 😲 little missy, no disrespect intended, I think I'll put the carpet guy I spoke with on hold, I think I'll try the guest room 🤞😊 thanks for sharing.
This goes for paint too folks! Especially so since each gallon is mixed separately on site upon purchase, variances in age, textures of base, etc. Always premix groups of like together before use for uniform coverage and color
Thank you so much!!! I’m going to give it a try. I just started the stairs and it looks great. I’ll use my carpet cleaner tomorrow :)) I’m excited and nervous at the same time:))
I just found this channel and boy and I glad I did!! I'am buying my late sister and brother in law's house, the carpet is Bleach spots. I'am going to try this in the guest room.
I know this was about a year ago but I’ve been wanting to dye my 26’ by 30’heart area rug I have Pedal pink and I came across this video. I can’t believe how nice your rug came out! I have a new carpet cleaner and if I was to use it for my big rug it won’t ruin my Carpet cleaner? Good job on your project girl! 😍
I tried to make a pink carpet gray but a half of bottle only covered a 2x2 sq section. Then it didn't cover it completely. I then realized the carpet was colored before from a tan to a pink.
I’m not sure because the whole reason I did it in the first place was because we were selling the our house and the carpet was the only thing that wasn’t new! Lol
When applying the dye via spray with the carpet cleaner, is the carpet cleaner suctioning back up what you just sprayed or if no, what are you doing to prevent the suction? Hope that makes sense lol😁
I THINK IM GOING TO BUY A CARPET CLEANER SO I CAN PUT DYE IN IT AND DYE MY CARPET. I LIKE DARK COLOURS BEST. YOURS IS NICE BUT I WILL USE A DARK RED ONE FOR MY CARPET.
I just used your awesome method with graphite color rid. It seems to have turned the carpet dark purple/brown. Do I need another coat? Or maybe just see if shampoo changes it? I was hoping for dark grey but this is not horrible. Definitely beats what was there!
It does actually it helps with it a lot!!!! But I would do is I would treat the spots that you can see or treat the spots that you know were there with a carpet cleaner first and then go over it with the dye and vinegar
Looks beautiful! Although it looks more like a deep purple than navy - or is that just the lighting? I actually have almost the same exact carpet as you, and I wanted to dye mine a dark purple just like that! :) Would you recommend the navy for dye? Thank you!!
My daughter’s carpet is a creamy white color and had orange/brownish stains on it when we bought our house.. nothing will take them up. I was going to try this with a dark color.. do you think it’ll cover the stains well?
@@diaryofabrokeassbitch121 May I ask what the vinegar is for? I’m very familiar with acid dyes (wool, silk) and the need for acid and heat. But I thought synthetic fiber dyes such as RIT used a different method?? I have tons of acid dye powders and would be happy to use them, but my carpets are most certainly not wool. Am I wrong to think I cannot use acid dyes for the carpet?
I have absolutely no idea! Haha! I don't see why not I would try a little hidden area. And on the back of the rite dye it says to either use vinegar or salt, for the different types of fabric, so I picked vinegar and it worked!!
Hiii I have a question will this work on wool type carpet ? If so I’m Going to try this I have bleach stains all over my grey carpet think I’m gonna go for a darker grey. Thanks for explaining everything :)) btw do the measurements have to be exact
Yes! On the back of the bottle it will tell you what you need to mix with the water ( vinegar or salt) when your dying wool. A dark gray would be perfect it would probably cover those spots and no the measurements don't have to be exact I started winging it after about the third one!! Good luck!!
Hi! Yes, I used a regular carpet cleaner and I just ran bleach and water through it when I was done and it came right out. It doesn’t really dye plastic just fabric;) good luck!!
I dropped a bleach spray bottle on my way to clean the restroom and now it has a big yellowish spot. You think this method would work on my carpet? Just trying to retouch it to its original color 😭
Great idea. Thanks for sharing. I am going to try this. How long did it take to dry? And, was it soft afterwards? Also, if I needed to clean the carpet, say months later, would the dye wash away? Thanks!
Okay,so...it took about 3 hours to dry with fans on it. No, it wasn't soft, but i went over it with the carpet shampooer( is that even a word?) And if you were to clean it months later I think the water would be colored but the carpet color would stay the same:)
Not at all?! I just rinsed it out at right after and ran water and cleaner through it. After it's set for like 24 hours I went ahead and just used the carpet cleaner the way I was supposed to so it didn't get it all stiff and stuff and cleaned up all the excess

Makes total sense! Yes, it is but just like regular carpet shampoo it gets all the fibers wet and the dye stick.

Do you find that the dye comes up when you shampoo the carpet?
Can I do red and green carpet with black dye?
Does the dye get on the bottom of socks or clothing after it dries?
Yes, it does
, That is why you wash it with water and soap afterwards with the same shampooer.

Maybe another coat. It also has a lot to do with the color the carpet was originally. How is it looking now?
This is great advice. How would you do this on stairs? Please let me know. 👍🏼
Just use the hand held piece
Does the vinegar help with the smells? Just potty trained a puppy several months ago and was going to replace ours because of the staining and smell.
