0:58 BIG CORRECTION I SOMEHOW MISSED: I MEANT TO SAY TO START BOOSTING FROM LAP 3 ONWARDS NOT LAP 4 OR 5 (snes player to used to snes who would guessed), CONSERVE YOUR BOOSTS ON THE FIRST 2 LAPS!!! Im not at home so I will edit the video as soon as i can!
I would also add that your greatest threat in this game is getting overzealous with the boost, players rarely do enough damage to really hurt you. Focus your energy on where the boost is most efficient, such as after a tight corner when everyone is slow.
Great track guide! Your previous F-ZERO 99 guide was also a big help. Other videos on the subject focus on re-reading the game's tips, but what you're sharing seems like legitimate and hard-won knowledge from playing the original SNES game and carrying it over to the Switch. It's much appreciated. I'm looking forward to more guides. Would you be open to fielding questions from the audience for future videos?
Yes, of course! Comment any question about the game and ill try my best to answer! If it good enough for a video topic id love to do a video on it too!
After 174 single-races, I finally got a 1st Place win just now; this video helped provide the tiny little bits of polish I needed to get from 'top 5' to 'top 1'. Probably won't be able to do it CONSISTENTLY (my 1st place run was like 2'00"68 or so, and I know a true good run is closer to 1'57"70-ish; everyone ahead of me managed to crash into each other - we take those, though). But doing it even once felt damn exciting. Thank you, Himiko-avatar equipped speedrunner who sounds kind of like Otacon!
I never got why Big Blue was placed after Mute City. Mute City is by far the more difficult track, and it also has a lot more complexities. Great video! I loved the tips, and I will be using some of them! Your voice was a little difficult to hear over the music though. I hope you continue with this series!
Bro thanks a lot for this video, I recently wanted to found course guides, but there are no guides except this one. Please make Big Blue guide! New sub btw 🏎️
I have two overall approaches to the Skyway, so that is why I have a bias towards the stars not colored purple and actually right away eliminated the purple star myself. The orange star location is because it would be great to not have to lose a lot of energy to basic skirmishes by other players after getting your energy bar refilled. I generally do this on Lap 2 to help catch up to first place, although it does put me in a somewhat hard spot to try to get KOs. More energy = more freedom to boost. Only reason not to take it imo is because you have a chance at KOing a Grey Bumper and can afford to wait placement-wise until later on the track. The red star location is my ideal location because I try to think of what the most difficult parts of any track are, and the rough areas here and the sharp turn leading to the finish line are the hardest parts, so I would consider it a better investment to be able to skip those areas entirely. Maybe you do not want this if you actually are trying to get first and you are far behind, but these areas are pretty infamous for Red Bumpers causing havoc. I would skip over this area entirely if possible, so that is why I jump on at the red star location. These highly-contested areas are NOT skipped if you do the purple star location, so that is why I personally disagree with the placement, but my opinions on optimal super boost usage has changed overtime, so who knows...
That's a very fair approach to the skyway. I value trying to stay and 'extend' the amount of time you can stay in it. The thing I've noticed with the red star location is that it's very hit or miss. Obviously everything depends on your current position in the race, but it's also fair to say that they're probably more locations I didn't note/talk about that are also good locations to use the skyway boost.
thank you so much for this!! mute city is my weakness in the knight league gp, i'll get top 5 in every other race, but do bad overall because i got 60th on mute city >_
As Mute City I Is an easy track, i recommand using skyway as fast as you can if you are not among the firsts, so you'll get more skyay Two Skyways are better than only one more efficient one
2:29 I actually disagree. As a falcon and stingray player, I find that not only was i able to land on podium a couple of times cuz of that shortcut, but I was able to catch up to foxes (and falcons) in the lead and either pressure them or land a KO. I usually do it regardless of the lap tbh. As a falcon, i can just recover my boost right away. As a stingray, im not really boosting a s much, so i just yolo and go for it
It goes down to the situation, it felt, especially since the vid came out a few days after the game, that it was much harder to line up in general because of the amount of exploding snail bumpers and such, but now a few months later I do go for it way often than not lol.
Thanks for this guy this is super useful. I love Fzero 99 and just started getting into it. Still haven't won yet but that's my goal. Do you have any other good resources i'd love it to see them
It really depends on your placement in the pack. Obv if you are below the top 20-30 you should try and get ahead, but if your current position is pretty high up I'd say it be worth it to save boost (esp if you have or are close to having the super boost) so you can chain them together for the final push
@@TedbearFZ Am I missing something or is there a mode that has 5 laps? There are only 4 laps. I was just being pedantic, you make great vids and I’m subbed bro
This guy is bad. Really bad. Follow his strategy to be one of the sheep aiming for the spots between 60 and 40. *Edit. This came out 2 months ago. I guess I can forgive some of the bs then. I guess anyone playing now would spot the bs in this video though.

Guides for every course are coming, just may take some time since I got to get footage for each using the different strategies I talk about :)
bruh stop making competition better the game hard enough 😂
get on the game and play instead of complaining XD

in many racing games sometimes the simple tracks are the hardest to win since is simple for everyone
been looking for a while to find a good competitive F-Zero 99 channel but i think i've found my home here! keep up the good work

Ironically, I'd argue this is the most difficult track to get a high position, since it's the easiest one and very few players screw up
0:56 Waiting until lap 5 to use your boost seems like a bad idea...
