I miss my lover , we used to play this song driving down the Yorkshire moors and we knew that he didn't have long left but this song kept us smiling ... cancer is cruel .... forever in Blue jeans Den RIP x
We had the joy of seeing him a the National Guard Armory in the little town of Manassas, Virginia in the mid 60s. He was not even the headliner there that night but he was ever the gentleman and all there knew he was going places. My date that night ended up becoming my bride in the late 60s. We are still married and all should read up about his time at the Brill Building. Joe
Was looking at me his video with my grandaughter Ella and she says great song gramma I see why u play his music every day,I just smiled what a smart girl to recognize a fantastic singer
Neil's voice crack at 2:29 Poor Neil, bless his heart. Such a pro though, just carries on like nothing happened. Would really like to see him play live.
Neil Diamond was in 1977, four days on Tour in Netherland.there were problems with the Hammond organ (110 Volt America-Europe 220 Volt) I'm approached by Lou van Rees Management for a solution to my Hammond Rent. After four days I got my B3 Hammond returned with Fire spots of Cigarettes. It frustrated me.They have me removed me from the Neil Diamond Fan Club because I had this listed on their site.Never Excuse of Neil Diamond !!!
. . . Neil's first Australian and New Zealand tour was during February and March 1976. Famously , such was the demand for tickets (HOT AUGUST NIGHT being the best-selling lp in Australia for many years - it remained in the album top 10 for over 2 years from release) that he sold out theatres and venues he wasn't even playing ; blank cheques were sent en masses in the hope of getting a ticket - ' a n y t I c k e t '.
Richard Bennett is the best! He left Neil's band to play with Mark Knopfler and work as a Nashville musician before this video was made. The players above are Doug Rhone and Hadley Hackensmith. Bennett, though, will always be Neil Diamond's guitarist to my mind. He made this song forever catchy in or out of blue jeans.
It's a great song, but they're not very comprehensive lyrics really when you consider it's just two short verses and a chorus repeated a few times. Clever though. .
Lots of good covers but nobody does this like the master himself, it never gets old
So sad that he can't play for us anymore. One of the most talented singers out there!
There are two types of people in the world...
Them that like Neil Diamond.......

I love how he has his co stars of this song up there with him. This song would be nothing without Richard Bennett.
