@@julesb6816 there are multiple different generations of tgv, the First being the pse or Süd- est, that’s the orange one, the Thalys pba sets are modified versions of the tgv reseau which in real life has an operational speed of 320km/h whereas the original pse started with a max design speed of 260km/h this was upped to 300km/h during refurbishment the pbka is a modified tgv pos set the thalys sets are different from another other tgvs due to there a ability to operate on a huge amount of networks, in game however you are correct, the thalys is simply a reskin.
@@Robbedem I think they shouldve used the ICE 3 instead of ICE 2 because the ICE 3 is the fastest train in Germany witha top speed of 205 mph, if it was used in that race it wouldve come second behind the fuxing hao. Below the ICE 3 which would come in third place would be the TGV.

Capitaen_Proton the Performance was adequate at the time and it still is in the shortened versions today. They don’t have to climb many slopes either as they are mainly used on routes like Berlin - NRW where the terrain is perfectly plain.

As you already mentioned, the ICE1 has almost double the passenger capacity, which makes it almost twice as heavy. So the power to weight is much lower.

European trains are a lot lighter and are more susceptible to being crumbled than the Acela which is built heavy. Speed isn’t necessarily everything you know, and really they could add more passenger capacity to one Acela set but that would slow down the rate of acceleration.
