I always interpreted this as the soft music as you walk into the fairground and in wonder of all the rides and stalls and then get on a ride and the music bursts into a louder more rampant manner as you whirl around in the air. Epic piece of music. The big bass sound is typical of fairground music as it pounds through you on a ride.
I love fairground❤️ I know a lot of traditional SR fans maybe don't rate it close to his more soulful hits but it is his first & only UK number 1. - (surprisingly given his body of work)
As you both love live music you need to watch "simply red extravaganza live at old trafford 1996" it's a football stadium in Manchester UK which is Mick Hucknall's home town, straight away the first few songs you probably haven't heard before and the first one he sings is "picture book" its amazing. I have seen him live in concert twice in other venues in Manchester before 1996.
It was a big summer hit, many UK bands dabbled with dance music around this time, Ibiza club scene DJs would be playing this song at the chillout parties. Great times.
Hey guys what a great birthday pick and reaction, 🎁🎈🎈‼️Red Samba Standing By. A great tune brings back many terrific memories. I’m camping and kayaking sort of off the grid so late for my own birthday party, oh well. It’s the big 65 feels kinda weird thanks for hosting such a fabulous music channel to react with you and others to great music. Thanks for all the birthday wishes let the tunes keep rolling. Peace out ❤️❤️
My favorite Simply Red track is "The Right Thing" from 1987. It's very R&B (Motown?) soul - which I prefer to their later lighter stuff (which I also like). As for "Fairground" - a great song, but I prefer the club mix because it really lights a fire under his dynamic voice.
@Nicknlex , I wish you'll take a look at the videos on RUclips from this song played live at the Sydney Opera House or at Symphonica in Rosso, and look at the crowd reactions, Simply Amazing!!!
It thought it was interesting catch about the Brazilian drums since this song samples a club hit that sampled a Sergio Mendes song. Mick does rework the portions of Give It Up by The Good Men by actually changing from the square song structure by playing with how many measure are in a phrase and having a dropbeat in one phrase.
I agree and don't think there is a bad song on that album. Fairground actually may be my favorite though for some reason. And I don't think it did all that well here in the US. And thanks Scott - I got to hear a Fairground reaction because it is your birthday. So thanks for the gift and here is to you.
Very "unusual" song. I would have named it... " I Love The Thought". I do not recall ever hearing this track on the radio. It's one of those buried treasures. Take care....
This was not a hit in the U.S. except us DJs played the remix dance versions in the clubs. MTV was not playing videos much anymore in the mid 90s. Great song ❤
Best of the day to you, Scott! I turned 68 last week ... enjoy some cold ones with friends and great tunes. Here's an aural present for you.... Max Webster... On the Road It's an acoustic tidbit from one of those crazy Canadian prog/rock bands.
1. The intro was hilarious, you should change something every time, like they did in the Simpsons opening theme song 2. 5:38 I liked the way he said "Brazil Fantasy" but actually sounded like a heavy Russian accent 🤣
Lex, you remind me so much of a girlfriend I had in college back in the 70's.....my first True love. Her name was Bennette. Your face, smile, expressions, your upbeat attitude. Thanks for those memories......I could kiss you for it. And I really like watching and listening to your reactions. NicknLex is a good reaction channel. Tell Nick he's a very lucky man.
By this time Simply Red had evolved into Mick Hucknall's backing band (lots of member changes) and their hits were in the background of fashion shows (Mick himself dated some models and dedicated "So beautiful" in this album to one of them; it's one of his best lyrics). "Fairground" with its mix of house/samba beats was maybe their last big hit before the arrival of Fatboy Slim and Daft Punk erased them from the club scene. From then on, they were cornered into AOR radio and soul cover homages for the elder.
I'm Sooo glad you have discovered SR. I'VE been suggesting them since 2020 when I joined. You guys got me through COVID times. As I have gotten to know your musical tastes, I knew you would love his music as I do. Next, If You Don't Know Me by Now, their cover of Howard Melvin and the Blue Notes. Usually I prefer the original to the cover but Mick's voice is so well suited, it's moving.
NicknLex, check out together Gino Vanelli (1978) I Just Wanna Stop. Trust me you will love this gem which has so many elements you enjoy. Something special for Lex. Do video version for full effect.
My SR suggestions You've got it (video) Enough Turn it up You make me believe The spirit of life The death of the cool Fake (video version) All studio versions
I highly recommend you watch the live version of holding back the years at Symphonica in Rosso (even off camera since you already reacted twice to that song, but it's worth it), it's a spectacular performance, the audience is part of the song and Lex will definitely cry 😂. Greetings from Italy🇮🇹❤️
This is a real must watch guys....Fairground at Symphonica de Rosso, and I have copied the link for you. Lex, please make sure you've got the Kleenex handy for Nick 🤣🤣 ruclips.net/video/YKQtx_I8Kj0/видео.htmlsi=5MPqCKF8fWSzc8Hf
I Love Marley, he's a cutie and I love Nicknlex too, I just had a wisdom tooth pulled, you are helping me through the pain and discomfort, Thank you very much
@@scottanderson8420 Thank you so much for your kind words, Scott, I really appreciate it, I'm still in some pain, still bleeding a little because the dentist had to cut it out because the root was so long, he said it was going to take a few days to start feeling better, I was going to cut my grass today but I think I'm going to wait until tomorrow, ok, have a great day Scott.
Haven't watched your Spanish music channel, my Spanish isn't that good, but have you checked out the Spanish band Amaral yet? Great band with some amazing songs.
@@NicknLex Will do, good music is good music. Don't know many of the Latin American Spanish artists, but back in the day when I was regularly in Spain listened to some Spanish bands, namely Amaral and Oreja de van Gogh.

Guys, you really need to listen to the live version from Symphonia in Rosso, it's amazing, and poor Nick won't be able to contain himself!👍
YES. Great Choice. Fairground is fab. The Life album is really overlooking in the US. (not the UK)
A New Flame is your next
Yes!!! I also want to see them react to Picture book or Sad old Red
@@tparmenter I think they are going to do the whole picture book album

love to see them do the whole A New Flame album
I watched your videos when you went to help Nick's mom, & sure hope she's doing well.♥️
It evolves into a piano House dance song in the second half. One of their best songs!!
Wow. This was great. It reminded me of something Robert Palmer would have done.
Yeah, because is so similar to 'Simply Irresistible'.😂😂😂
Good comparison
The piano percussives are very Stevie Wonder.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCOTT, have a great Birthday...
Thanks Dave
@@scottanderson8420 you're welcome, Scott, anytime
