I sank my Steel body Prairy Bobcat in my pond. I welded a hook to a piece of pipe and got it hooked over the rear hitch then winched it up the slope to the surface. It got very hard to pull once it broke the surface as it was full of water. Had to use a hand barrel pump to dewater it as it came out. The drains were on the high side...
How did the Argo end up sinking? Flip over? Usually they can bust through ice and not have an issue. I'm just trying to figure out how to not sink an Argo when breaking through ice.
Not 100% sure on this one. He thought he left the drain plugs out, but they were in when we got it up. They leak at the bearings sometimes and I’ve seen one sink with cracks under the skid plate. Also if a corner drops you are done! Best to leak test on the regular in controlled circumstances…
I think this one was cracked under the skid plate or the bearing seals were bad. But in general it’s just a boat with wheels and like any boat without floatation compartments filled with foam they can sink. Sometimes the tires keep them at the surface depending on what is in it.
Private Land in this case. I wear a helmet trail riding for sure. On ice not so much. Last thing you wanna have to do if your in the water is have a big heavy, hard to remove piece of plastic over your head lol

Thanks! It was quite the challenge!
Crazy recovery!
Great edit man!
Neat!
Can you do a video showing your snowmobile boat set up? How you made it?
great rescue video! You put in lots of hard work for that argo. Wondering how it went into the ice, not so easy for a 8x8 with tracks.
I think it was cracked under the skid plate. He thought the plugs were out but they were in it when we got her up
Gave you a sub from Upstate New York
Thanks! It’s been a slow climb for YT!

how does an argo "sink" ?

That close to shore. Cut with power saws to shore and just pull to shore. Could have it on shore in 30 minutes.
Nope they tried that. Was hung on a root in the front. Far easier to just pick it up once upside down.
You are wrong
Found that it lacked a lot of content, too much focus on you and not how the job was accomplished.
Good work! Hope the po po don't see your video and send you a fine for no helmet...
