    The Captain and Crew were so fortunate to land where they did, soft sand, and not on rocks or structures. Great Job Alfred.

      That soft sand in the surf can still do plenty of damage. We were born and raised on the Outer Banks of NC and my husband is a tugboat engineer/ relief captain.

    This has exposed a flaw in the boats design. Even though they "lost power" the anchor can be released in a freefall. However the safety chain / snubber was attached which prevented the anchor from dropping. In the event of rough seas and an emergency where it needs to be dropped, it's not safe to walk to the bow to release the snubber. The anchor locker and snubber should be reachable and operable from inside the FWD cabin.

    • @eamonshields2754

      Agreed

    • @chiphill4856
      @chiphill4856 8 месяцев назад +2

      Pretty sure it is possible to reach the anchor locker and windlass from inside this boat. Question: in you statement above, why did you put quotes around the words lost power? Do you have a reason to believe he did not lose power?

    • @johnbaker4847
      @johnbaker4847 8 месяцев назад

      It can be, when under pwr, no engine requires manual release. 😖😤 Gottit? 👌 Ok then.

    • @DR-cm4hi
      @DR-cm4hi 8 месяцев назад +5

      I only used quotes because that was the report at the time and I was referring to information provided by others. I have no confirmation they did or did not loose power. Also, "lost power" could refer to electrical, engine(s), or both.
      If the anchor locker can be reached from inside this model, I would wonder why the captain did not disconnect the snubber. Perhaps after the anchor was manually released (as can be seen in the video) he was then unable to release the snubber from the inside due to the weight of the anchor hanging on it.

      You are right. Our entire family is either in the Coast Guard, commercial fishing, or Capt and engineering on a push tug and a pulling tugboat. In NC the national park service sometimes can step in. When any part of the vessel is in water, the USCG still has jurisdiction.

The only fault that I find with your videos is when you are interviewing or sharing the mic with a guest, you tend to talk over them and/or cut them off half stream. Thanks again for the awesome job that you do Brother.
