So nice when Hochrhein Musicfestival Productions tells us: "The double bass part was added spontaneously during rehearsal time at Olsberg by Uxia Martinez Botana herself :) ". I think it is good that musicians still have the freedom to experiment a bit with music, that it isn´t locked forever. In this case it turned out to be a success!
I actually attended one of Uxia Martinez masterclasses in London and I saw how she can do on the spot a bass part out of a score. Apparently was one of the requisit to be Gidon's Kremer soloist in Kremerata. I was amazed of the amount of repertoire she knew ... must have been an amazing training. She is a Pro, quite some brains in there! And brutal instincs!

Ah, silly me, I clicked on a Mozart chamber piece this morning and here I am, six hours later binge listening to the great master. Written in 1779 when he was 26 years old and selling his belongings to get money, lost his mother and been rejected by his first true love, the year before. It's incredible that Mozart, Bach and Schubert, three of the most prolific composers of all time, lived and died in poverty.
I am breathless from this performance - what phrasing, what dynamics of the figures, what teamwork, what relentless virtuosity in each one and in the ensemble as a whole, what Mozart! Outstanding performance!

What an energenic performance! Interesting how the solo parts were divided up among the whole ensemble. I used to play this work with a violist friend in high school. If I had only known about this arrangement, we could have had fun with more of our friends.

And although in this case it’s not a symphony, but rather a quartet, though I believe that the 18th century allows more freedom with the fact that you don't lose anything. Mozart surprises me: classical, baroque, romanticism, avant-garde, drama... who is he? and when people characterize Mozart's music as elegant and comfortable, I start to get annoyed. There is an eternity in every note. Passion, plasticity, melodic and harmonic intensity, supreme skill, genius!
