Reichert pulled his name for consideration because the energy and excitement was clearly with Semi at the convention. Semi won the endorsement of the party on Sat 4/21 with 72% of the vote, Reichert with 28%. I was there as a delegate.
Bird is a bank robber = an excellent GOP candidate. Reichert has demonstrated integrity and adherence to the law for decades (unlike the current GOP leaders) making him a real misfit for the GOP. Should be interesting to see how this plays out.
I really hope that Dave Reichert wins this race. We’ve seen what happens when you have 40 years of the same party governing a state. I admire his determination, courage, and strength. It’s time for a refreshing change. Let’s win this thing, Dave!

Bird wasn't disqualified by the party, because the GOP is not "the party of law and order". Reichert doesn't have much of a chance now, for 2 reasons- you don't get very far as a republican candidate in WA without a LOT of out-of-state GOP money, and Reichert has publicly distanced himself from Trump.
I will never vote for Reichert if he is anti Trump.
He isn’t anti trump, he just doesn’t agree with him 100% of the time which is not a bad thing. Shouldn’t worship anyone or assume they can’t make a bad decision.
My respect for Dave Reichert has increased immensely. I suspect he could distance himself further from the MAGA crowd by running as an independent. I'd give him my vote if he did. WA needs to hold criminals accountable (including these out of control teens) and I believe Dave would make that happen.

A good move for a politician to seperate from the Republican Party. The Republicans are a MAGA party now.
