Thats fair, I think its probably so underrated just cause of how different it is to the other games in the series. Plus I do feel it has some steeper levels of a learning curve to get good at, anytime I try to play the console versions of dhj I usually am terrible at it lol. But yeah excited to see more if you do end up posting more ^^

The game is really pretty fun, just have to use its potential and try to have fun with it
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think the game plays way better on the WII. You can spin/flip easier while being free to input whatever trick you wish, the motion controls are responsive, the control simplification actually works, the game looks better and loads faster, mashing your 4 wiimote buttons like crazy to spam tricks is less painful, playing the game is so much more engaging when you shake like crazy to use the boost charges.
After trying the PS2 controls, they feel so sloppy, despite taking a lot from the THUG engine. Spinning without shoulder buttons is a nightmare, flipping can't be easily strung together with other tricks, and overall the Dualshock uses the traditional button mapping, which is kinda unnecessary seeing how the WII controls with merged functions are perfectly fine for this kind of fast-paced racing game where technique and precision with multiple dedicated buttons aren't really necessary most if the time.
I will also say, some of the additional challenges in the PS2 version are total bull. So glad the original doesn't have them.

"Spinning without shoulder buttons is a nightmare" I never used the shoulder button to spin in any tony hawk games, I always did that with dpad / stick.
@@LarxiaI see, I've been playing it on a PS2 emu lately and I've kinda gotten used to the controls, but I still think it plays more naturally on the Wii. Plus, about the rotation, on Wii you can just tilt left or right and input several directional variations while you're at it. I simply missed that on PS2 because you can't input a variety of direction while also keeping your rotation, which steadily increases your multiplier and allows you to hoard a ton of points. Anyways, I managed to convince myself that PS2 controls aren't as inferior as I thought. I simply had to progress the game and unlock better boards, because the first one had such a sloppy turning radius that I thought my thumbstick was having issues.
I still think I would prefer playing on Wii overall, but I guess being able to emulate it instead of playing natively on console is more convenient. (I also tried emulating the Wii release, but the merged button functions are simply impossible to regularly bind on a nomal gamepad.

@@warpig2786 Well it's obviously a lot more forgiving than the classic thps games, because it's still mostly a racing game, so bad landings usually will punish you by slowing you down rather than making you fall, but you can still fall if you do big error or if collide with something at high speed etc. The bails in this game will usually be caused by movement errors, not tricks. I got extremely lucky to not fall at 1 min 30, stuff like that will usually make you fall, I restarted the run many times for smaller things lol

@@dawiddawid968 I don't understand this comment, really. The original goal is to get 600k for gold. I did a video about what I thought was a cool gameplay, which happens to have a 5 million score, that's it.
