I think this whole "true timeline" is nothing else than a Titan construct. They saw a timeline in which everything goes according to them and just said "ok guys, we will keep this one and protect it because every other is bad for us". That's imo the only meaning of "true timeline".
What Iridikron reffered to as "true timeline" might be his vision of perfect timeline, without Titans interfering on Azeroth, as he see them as something bad what shouldn't happen.

    • @Sh3phrd
      @Sh3phrd Год назад

Yeah, IIRC he referred to the titans protecting THIS timeline. I can't really see how that could refer to anything other than ours, the one we are in, this one.
If the world soul is what they are after, then it seems most likely they found the best timeline for it. Only then did they empower the dragons to help maintain it.

    • @TalanXavier

The titans' "true timeline" also didn't seem to care about us traipsing through alternate draenor, so it is fairly clear that they only care about Azeroth. Other worlds don't matter to them. In Tyr's vision, Alexstrasza was the last one the void dude showed betraying him. I think the aspects will turn away from the titan worshipping and the watchers will see that as a betrayal. We will become enemies to the titans. They're still out there in space, right? Has anyone been keeping an eye on that red spot in the sky?

I don’t think that last cinematic is an indication that Vyranoth is too far gone, and consumed by vengeance. If anything, the fact that she was prepared to meet Alexstrasza proves that she isn’t, even if her words contradict this. I think she’s still heartbroken, and is saying it through hurt, but it isn’t who she really is deep down. If it was, she could have just attacked her there and then. Remember, she doesn’t have to become our ally to cease being our enemy. An element of neutrality could still be an option.
On another note; if we see that our reality’s timeline isn’t the “true” one (in fact, there’s probably no such thing), could we see an influx of people who think like the Infinites? Sympathisers? People trying to erase horrific acts in Azeroth’s past to find a better future now that they know the true timeline was probably propaganda? Could make for a fun conflict, especially when there are those in the present timeline that would be torn because they have good things now, even if other suffering could be erased.

It feels like she's telling herself that vengeance is all that's left. You can see slight hesitation on Vyranoth's face for just a fraction in the cinematic, right before she says it's too late.

You know while the figure in the portal being Xal'atath seems like the obvious choice, I am going to go with Azshara. The hair and ears are completely different then Xal'atath's. This is pretty obvious with the ears as Night Elf ears are positioned horizontally, just like the ears on the figure in the portal. Xal'atath has the vertical ears that are found on high/blood/void elves. It is a pretty good silhouette for Azshara when she was a Night Elf, which we have seen can can appear as, and that may be double so now with N'Zoth no longer holding her reins.
Now Blizzard of course could give Xal a new model, but we know Azshara is plotting something, and slithered through a portal the last time we saw her. She's just the person to starting grabbing pawns, err allies, as we have seen her do that before.

Just wanna put this out, cuz a lot of people have been talking about it. I don't actually believe Blizzard is going with the "Titans are evil" narrative. I think they might go with the idea that each Cosmic Force believe themselves to be right and the other five to be evil. The Titans are not doing what they do because they are evil they are simply doing what is their nature as beings of Order. They simply follow the directive of the Force of Order, just following their programming if you will.
It's like how people that are religious think all other religions are false religions and their god(s) are the only true one(s) and when they are trying to convert you, they are not doing it because they are being evil they do it because they are geniunly trying to help, because they think it's the only way to save you, even if they are misguided.

She has a pretty clear emotional reason for her vengeance but I feel like it's not in line with what Iridikron is actually planning. I don't think she signed up for all that void stuff?
Also remembering what Neltharion was up to in Aberrus makes me think maybe Iridikron was secretly even collaborating with him , seeing as they're both earth-connected and messing around with the void?
Might be a reason why Vyranoth would finally turn against Iridikron and while she wouldn't necessarily be an ally to the Aspects then; the enemy of my enemy and all that... I'm not too knowledgable on the recent lore/timeline and just spit-balling here, so I might be way off base.

I'm still curious about the hints of Alexstrasza's "inevitable" corruption that we saw in the little restoring Tyr quest scenario.
Neltharion, Black Dragon Aspect of the Earth / The Earth-Warder, had a deep connection to the earth and was somehow corrupted by whispers of the old gods / the void imprisoned within the earth. He flipped from being a protector to "The Destroyer".
Malygos, Blue Dragon Aspect of Magic / The Spellweaver / The Protector of Magic, was deeply attuned to the magical energies of the world. After going mad from his flight's near extinction at the hands of his former brother Neltharion-turned-Deathwing, Malygos sought to seize absolute control over the world's magical energies. His idea of "keeping magic safe" had become warped to the point where he would bring ruin to all mortal life in achieve this goal.
Nozdormu, Bronze Dragon Aspect of Time / The Timeless One / The Guardian of Time, is empowered with the ability to traverse the timeways and, apparently only sometimes these days, see the events of the future as they are meant to happen. He was shown his future and the moment of his death as Murozond The Infinite Aspect. His purpose being to protect "the true timeline" from interference. His corrupted future self, Murozond the Infinite Aspect, actively seeks to interfere with "the true timeline" that Nozdormu seeks to protect.
Ysera, Green Dragon Aspect of Dreams / The Dreamer, was attuned to The Emerald Dream, a spiritual plane of existence parallel to the mortal realm in which life/nature is shaped before taking form in reality. The Emerald Dream is said to control the flow of evolution of nature in the physical world. Ysera is charged with protecting The Emerald Dream to safeguard Azeroth. In her corruption at the hands of Xavius, she became an agent of The Nightmare, which corrupts and twists The Emerald Dream into something dark and sinister. She was quickly defeated before she could act as an agent of the Nightmare within The Emerald Dream, where she likely would have help expand its influence.
In each case, the corruption of a Dragon Aspect turned them into a dark projection of themselves. Neltharion who was to protect the world sought to destroy it. Malygos who was to protect magic instead hoarded it. Nozdormu who was to protect the true timeline instead seeks to destroy it as Murozond. And Ysera who is charged with protecting The Dream would have instead twisted it into The Nightmare at a large scale.
And this leaves us with the as of yet uncorrupted Alexstrasza the Life-binder, Red Dragon Aspect and Queen of the Dragons. Charged with guarding all life on Azeroth. What corruption awaits her? Undeath? After all, you can't perma-kill everything on Azeroth if it's all already undead. Lightforging? Give up everything for Life and Light, become an immortal, mindless drone for the army of the light under Alexstrasza or else? Fall to the Void? Life itself is inherently entropic, accelerating the rate of entropy of the universe faster than if there was no life. If Void is Entropy as a power, it's all the more reasonable that the Lifebinder, who has lived for countless years, would generate entropic power of The Void over time. Every light fades eventually...

He says it before Galakronds essence is in his physical grasp. He is asking why the titans wanted to preserve the timeline where Nozdormu becomes Murizond, implying it was to stop what he was about to do. As to their intentions for Azeroth, it's one of their children so they will do what it takes to give it the best chance of growing up safely. If that means controlling timelines or if it means controlling all the dragons, they will do what it takes. As beings of order, control is probably a natural tool to them.
And I think the Vyranoth cutscene is 100% setting up for side switch at the end where primal dragon and titan dragon end up agreeing to co-exist.

Could we potentially have a fight between both Vyrannoth and Fyrrak in the emerald dream and only with the help of Elune succeed.
Could Vyrannoth take Malfurion's place leaving Ysera free to return? For that matter we COULD see Merithra facing a tragic end and have Merithra take Malfurion's place with Ysera being transferred from the Winter Queen to Elune and becoming the green aspect again while still getting Vyrannoth as a violet proto/elemental aspect.
The emphasis on time, showing it by having us travel back to a pre-Titan Azeroth, building on that and mentioning things like Avoloren and how the Titan's couldn't conquer it is such a great way of doing justice to the new "Cosmic" scope of our present day lore.

I think the whole deal with Nozdormu not being able to track Iridikron is that he's not in our plane of reality anymore. He probably passed into the realm of the Void just like Xalatath and Azshara have. And it makes sense Nozdormu can't see into other realities beyond our own.

Another way to phrase Tali's theory about us not being the true timeline...
Imagine that the Titan's "true timeline" is a parallel universe that we have already deviated from. But if we follow their instructions, we will eventually change the timeline to undo our universe and replace it with theirs.
Only problem with that theory IMO is the question of why the Titans wouldn't just keep us on the correct tract in the first place, rather than having us veer off course just to get back on course. Perhaps they're trying to undo the void's meddling, but even then the solution should be to have the Bronze flight play offensive as a pro-Titan meddling force, rather than defensive keeping the current path

About the timeline stuff. Many forks in that road obviously.
If "we" decide to fight the true timeline, that means teaming up with those we previously defeated as villains. Morally gray? Sure.
How *is* Sargeras doing in that one-true timeline? Does he need any help getting free? Would be a shame if someone helped him.
Or have we gone to far and the Titans show us that we have been manipulated into not trusting them by the forces of thingamagick?

  • @kindasa
    @kindasa Год назад

Tali, I may be mis-remembering something. But I thought I picked up that the "true" timeline is the only timeline that has azeroth's world soul in it. All of the other timelines, like azmerloth does not have a titan soul growing in the planet.
It makes me think about the ending of the first Dr Strange movie, where the titans dont exist in a single timeline but rather transcend them all. IIRC the old gods already do this?
If this is correct, then the "true" timeline is not really something that is a prophecy, but rather just an "important" timeline that requires protecting, where as the other timelines are insignificant.

That we're doing what we've thought of the Infinite Dragonflight has been doing the whole time. We're not in danger of deleting ourselves, we're enforcing a divergent reality.

There's a wild theory I've seen thrown around on the basis that the infinite dragonflight story is apparently not finished. That Chromie's actions went against the rules of the bronze and that it's ultimately what damns. her and then by extension Nozdormu. to becoming infinite dragons.
Also, I think the Titan's disregard for us was already in the game when you think about the forge of origination. The built a device to wipe life from the face of azeroth is we got out of hand, only to save the world soul. Clearly we were only allowed to survive post Black Empire because the Titans at that moment couldn't be bothered. Bet if they were aware how much tom f*ckery the denizens of Azeroth would get up to in the long run, they would of glassed the planet eons ago.

I think "Titans are bad" is a bit of a misnomer. It is, much like the void and the light, greyer than that. Properly addressing that the Titans are very authoritarian at the risk of a "our way or gtfo" totalitarian has always been their M.O. It is literally why Sargeras broke away from them, but that is an example of there the "Order" aspect of the Titans was naively "goody goody" as Sargeras had to become despicable in order to resolve something that they would not. The reason why they have always come across as good is because they are set opposite something that is very fundamentally and demonstrably evil. The Legion.
Trying to stop or being attacked by something that is evil doesn't automatically make them good, but when choosing between the two, you would pick the side of the non-evil entity.
Btw, I still think Titans/World Souls aren't and shouldn't automatically be part of the Order aspect of the Cosmos. I believe Aman'thul absolutely is a titan of order, but as he is the oldest, and a being of pure order, I think he has subsequently taken World Souls that are suppose to belong to other powers and essentially forced his will of order on them.
Eonar and Khaz'goroth seem far more suited to the power of Life (creation). Sargeras and Aggramar are more aggressive, militant and righteous in their convictions, which aligns them more with Light. Out of the original seven, only Aman'thul and Norgannon properly represent the power of Order. Golganneth I struggle with, mainly because his canon lore isn't very fleshed out. Sea, skies and elements therein.
Now, a thing to note. All the ones I said clearly don't belong to Order are the Bronze Titans. The 'Vanir' per the non-canon RPG book. Two of the three Silver skinned Titans are clearcut members of Order. The Aesir. If there is a stronger plotline involving the Titans later down the line, I would like to see it be along these lines. Aman'Thul and Norgannon manipulating Life and Light Titan's in to their domain. One downside to this is that is draws heavily on "grooming" which I think is too contentious a storyline for WoW to utilise.

A time-travel themed 'Cataclysm' would be the most obvious direction to take this game in. It would allow Blizzard to clean up the old Cataclysm, restore normality and also create tons of alternative histories (or futures) by making each zone 'warp' back and for throughout time using the Legion Invasion format. And not just a time-warp lasting 15 minutes, but time warps lasting for days.
