Colonial Style Home Gets A Modern Makeover

- Designer Brooke Butler helped her empty-nester clients transform their family home into a forever home by opening up the space and refreshing the overall palette. The kitchen was given a facelift with custom millwork, open shelving and a stunning porcelain backsplash. A small extension was added to the dining room to better receive guests and a cold, forgotten sun room was transformed into an airy home office overlooking the yard.

What a dream home. Wow. I am just in love with all white interiors and clean understated decor. It's not necessarily minimalist but the lines are sleek and spaces aren't overly cluttered with items and nicknacks. I also really appreciate how the spaces flow into one another like there's an overall story to the design. Really love this one!

This is such an amazing makeover with really thoughtful changes that added to the function and beauty of the home. I love (and agree) with what the designer said about some division of spaces vs completely open design.
Nice definition of spaces while still preserving some openness and flow.

This design is very well done. My favourite part is the exterior the updates are beautiful.
Having lived in an open-floorplan apartment, my very complain is the smell and heat from the kitchen spreading throughout the living space. I find that the separation of at least the kitchen from the rest of the house is necessary. This video got that.
I'm agree with you especially I'm from Indonesia with a lot of those spicy i could imagine when I cooking my beef rendang 😂😂 the whole house will be full of oil and the smell of spices.
Everything feels very cohesive. And it looks interesting, I wanted to stop every shot to see all details.
This is beautiful!!! When I see books on the counter I always cringe because the counters are for prepping and liquid spill and water splashes. But for the sake of staging they look elegant.
The exterior is lovely, as is the front door and the leaded glass windows!
That entryway looks so beautiful now, what a difference! I really like the cabinets either side of the fireplace and the breakfast area is lovely.

Can I make a suggestion don’t get me wrong the house is stunning but the tv over fire place you could have put one of them picture TVs there it would look so much better and aesthetically pleasing to the look of living room just an observation 😊💛💛

Hallways sometimes are useful (to separate public and private space for example) but usually I find them to be a waste of square footage and feel like a no mans land. All for removing them and expanding living spaces whenever it is functional to do so.
