The biggest hurdles for the band i am in is of course social media as well as promotions for the band. We do shows and have bigger events coming next year. But we have been focused so much on the recording aspect since we all spend money for a private recording studio we just have not been getting that happy medium between recording and social reach. We have our own website and merchandise but not very good at promotions.

thank you! You are a breath of fresh air. I just released a single and I am so stuck! Im just creating my website now. I put the cart before the horse I think. Im doing lots of research now, but find it really hard to find anything thats focused toward christian music.

Well most of what we all know is from experience ... it is all "on the job training". Any music endeavor is a marathon and not a sprint. You're building brother ... always building. Each song is step.

One additional thought ... you mentioned you are building a website. We don't know the style of music you are creating ..but a website may or may not be necessary. What may be more important is the right social media platform for your demographic. A facebook artist page may be more important if your listeners tend to be 35 years old and up. Or if most are younger, then Instagram or TikTok may be more important. Just something to consider.

@@NashvilleSkylineDigital Good thought. It does appear most of my audience or reach are 35 and older. But must be doing somethings wrong, as no downloads yet, and a limited Spotify streaming. Im finding out a lot of them did not even have a Spotify account. Ive gotten positive results off SoundCloud but that also requires paying for some marketing. I've put together a compelling music lyric video that I want to launch (not sure who to use to distribute that - I don't see any christian centric ones yet). the style is more Christian Acoustic pop/soul.

You may not see any downloads, most consumers have moved completely to streaming songs and not buying downloads. It is a challenge to make streaming music consumers on Spotify or any streaming platform aware of the music. It is a building process, one release at a time. Regarding videos, most labels and artists simply use RUclips to launch videos. Video distribution through iTunes, etc is another thing that has become a thing of the past.

I have been invited to be produced by a producer who has worked with Charlie Daniels, Chris Tomlin and the Swampers out of Muscle Shoals.
