In an underground Chinatown eatery where the "Russian roulette" regulars came to play and just when a Kung Fu Death Match spilled over into our kitchen recording space, spectators and all. The match ended abruptly when a stray bullet hit one of the match contestants whose opponent won by a default judgement. I kept recording and the cooks kept cooking like nothing had happened. I guess they were used to it. It was during a folk music recording for the "The Folksmen" if I remember correctly. They asked for "ambience" and so I gave it to them.
Hey Nick, I've said this before. Your attitude is great. You sound like you're talking to a friend. (you kind of are).Hmmm, a drummer with a good singing voice. There's not many of you but that makes youbquite special to me. Thanks for everything. Jay
Hi, I want to record my poetry professionally. Please tell me a microphone and audio interface that gives me professional quality. But my room is not sound proof. At night, the sound of a motorcycle and barking dogs comes in my room from outside. But I also want to do a professional recording. Please tell me. my budget is around $350.
Hey there! It’s tough to completely block out those outside noises without fully sound proofing your room, but we certainly have options that can help block those sounds out! My recommendation would either be a shotgun microphone, or some sort of broadcast style dynamic mic (generally modeled after something like the Shure SM7B). These microphones have a very tight polar pattern, which means they only pick up what’s directly in front of the microphone. Again, it’s not going to completely block outside noise, but it will help a ton. For an interface, any single channel audio interface will be perfect. One of my favorites at a lower price point is by Presonus - I’ve copied a link to that below: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/AudioBox25--presonus-audiobox-usb-96-usb-audio-interface-25th-anniversary-edition I hope this helps! Hey, Marie! The best way to record your vocals on top of a karaoke track is with a small home studio setup. You’ll want to get a recording software, which will allow you to record and edit both your vocal track, and the backing track that you’re recording with. And you’ll need an audio interface and microphone, which will enable to you record your vocals. I’ve copied a couple links below that we’ve premade on the website. These come with everything from software, to microphones, to headphones, etc. Essentially, if you purchase this, you’ll have everything you need to start recording! www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Scar2i2StuG4--focusrite-scarlett-2i2-studio-4th-gen-recording-bundle www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/AudioBox25Ult--presonus-audiobox-96-ultimate-hardware-and-software-recording-kit-25th-anniversary-edition Feel free to reach out if you’d like to chat any further. Something Nick forgot to mention is, if you do end u getting an SM7B, or any other dynamic microphone to record vocals with, you will need something whats called a "Cloudlifter". Since dynamic microphones tend to have a low output. The cloudlifter is basically an additional FIXED volume preamp which is added between the microphone and interface, it just adds a little bit of a CLEAN boost of volume to the signal going into the interface so you wont have to turn up your interface all the way up and introduce some extra noise floor to the signal.
@@chdrummer Doubt it. I have a iConnectAUDIO4+ I have to turn the gain to 75% without a cloudlifter. And only 30% with a cloudlifter. Theres floor noise introduce into my recording without a cloudlifter
@@romodrummer What I was saying is that, if your interface is adding that much noise with a SM7, then it may not be "mid or high end". My interfaces are all clean gain.

In the backseat of a car that hasn’t worked in years. Computer mic all of that connected to an extension chord from the garage.
