I love Heaven Sent and it is one of my favourites (I love Capaldi's Doctor) but Silence in the Library 2 parter is my most rewatched Moffat episode (Turn Left is my other most rewatched episode but not one of his).
I couldn't handle the Doctor doing this for Clara. Clara was so annoying to me. I'm sorry. But yeah, the acting was awesome and it would have been better for me if the impetus wasn't Clara. My fav. was the Library.
Easter egg you missed was when Kanto died initially Munday didn't know as she had been thrown from the force of the ambulance killing him and you get the distorted voice of him saying I'm fine, how are you twice in response to her it's only the second time she realises. This is a throwback to Silence in the Library when Dave says who turned out the lights and it is only after the second or third time of saying it they realise the Vashta Narada had killed him. Vilenguard has been in Moffat episodes twice before it was mentioned in the Doctor Dances when Captain Jack used the square hole gun and also in twice upon a time Vilenguard was the planet Rusty the Dalek was on and had destroyed. Hth. Interesting review and I had the same theory regarding Susan Twist character and The Doctor and him never actually seeing her. My theories are usually pretty much wrong so far so I wasn't surprised I was wrong again. I also had/have the theory that this is all a tv show within a tv show but am not sure now after this episode 😂 Loved the episode wouldn't say it was one of Moffats best but it was damn good 😊
Hey! I dont know if you’ve said this elsewhere, but I loved you, Crystal and Juno on the official podcast, so I’m just wondering, why didn’t any of you return for the season 1 episodes? Thanks
I think Ruby is kind of like a self fulfilling character; she creates herself. The reason the ambulance couldn’t find her next of kin is because she is her next of kin. She is her own parents maybe? That’s why there’s no trace of them she is that trace. This happens in the beast below the future tech recognizes Amy is over a few thousand years old BUT it also acknowledges it DOESNT know if she’s married or not because it’s still in flux 😉
Bottle episodes were also used to save money, usually when a budget-heavy episode was coming up. And I don't think "Susan Twist" is the actress's actual name.
I’ve noticed that we keep travelling towards children: 1. Space Babies 2. 1963, the exact time when The Doctor lived with Susan (his granddaughter) 3. Lulubell in the Christmas special 4. Ruby’s abandonment on Christmas night 5. Splice - she had just lost her father and her mother had passed. The Doctor arrives as soon as Splice becomes an orphan My theory is that Ruby is the Toymaker’s child. Toymaker’s thing was games, Maestro’s thing was music and Ruby’s thing is coincidence/destiny
That's my thinking! (that Ruby's either Susan's daughter or regenerated Susan herself - although if Carole Ann Ford is to cameo and a send off - as I imagine RTD would like to do - the former makes more sense) I think that will make some satisfying sense when it recontextualises things we've previously seen: - In The Devil's Chord, on the rooftop, it'll mean both of them are (unknowingly) longing to know what happened to Susan. - In Boom, the Doctor's "Listen to me, Dad to Dad" will have been 2 sets of dads and (/great grand) daughters in that creator together. - In some BTS clips, when describing the Ruby & Doctor's relationship, I swear I heard Millie (after saying they are besties) describe a 'somewhat paternal aspect' or something like that; although I can't find this anymore, so I may have made it up! - And maybe Ruby Sunday will regenerate into Varada Sethu in a '12th Doctor & Caecilius' remembered-face sort of way. I think that could explain Gibson's potentially reduced S2 appearance as I don't believe there's been any real confirmation that the 3-man Tardis team are ever together at the same time...
It's been brilliant seeing X and this platform struggling to be negative about the lasted episode ncuti gatwa for me Nailed it as the Doctor in Episode 1 even though the story was weak, episode 2 was better but Boom really stripped it back and let the actors show why they were picked. That genuine sense of "OMG this is this a shock death" was real about Ruby, I had major issues with the series when Chibnall basically put a bulldozer through it and JW I never think she grasped the energy the doctor needed. To give a prime example imagine her trying to the Doctor in Boom? It would have been flat because the connection with the companions was never this strong. Ruby and the Doctor feel like they been together years. The guy has nailed the character RTD picked wisely
This was a rumour started by The Mirror. But Millie Gibson was at the read-through for Season 2 (Series 15), as was Varada Sethu. Rumours are that Ruby doesn't appear as much in the next series, but the reason for that is not yet known.
Favourite Moffat episode for me HAS to be Heaven Sent - what about you?
Sleeper choice but Impossible Astronaut for me
Blink
So many but Silence in the Library is up there with Heaven Sent.

P.S. favorite (non-"Sherlock" :)) Moffat: "Fireplace/"Blink" (tie)
Great choices! Can't argue there!

Could ruby be doctor biological great granddaughter via Susan?

The image of Moffat typing ‘gyal’ *IS* just 🤌 💀
Agree that must have been a Ncuti moment!
Great video about a great episode!

Wait ✋🏻 ALONGSIDE Ruby? I was under the impression that she was only there for one season. I guess I got that wrong, excellent news 😌
