    Mate, I allways end up watching your videos for a comprehensive guideline. This is totally what I needed to re-link the files on a new SSD I'm using now. But I wanted to thank you for this tutorial and many others that have been helping me resolve this "tiny" problems! Greetings from Tierra del Fuego, Argentina.

    I'm trying to relink 40TB of media to a RAID (it was originally linked to several smaller drives), but it takes forever to locate the files since it needs to read through a huge amount of files. Just matching file name and file extension (I could match Tape Name instead but that is much slower). Do you know what could make it faster? Would it help to have more RAM and/or a better processor on my computer?

    So..I ran out of SD card space while making a video. Now half the video is on one card and the other half is on a new one. How do I continue to edit the video with the new card with out losing all the media from the old card?

    • @VideoRevealed

      Import everything to your computer.
      Import everything into Premiere Pro.
      The not easy part is now you have to sort out which clips to use and continue your edit. There's no automated way to do that, you have to do it manually.

    Hi Colin!
    I have the following situation - a concert with 6 cameras in 4K 50 fps resolution has been filmed and my computer does not drag this material. There is one more problem with this - I don't have a media encoder and I can't compile proxy files. All material is in .mov format. The question - if I re-export all this footage in 1080 format to .mp4 - will it be possible after the material has been assembled and will have to be exported to replace the small file with the large one? This problem is caused by working on a 2009 Mac Pro that has undergone a maximum upgrade, but still can't handle these files.

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  6 лет назад +1

      Diagonal Lines indicate that the media duration in the Timeline and the duration of the file that's linked, are different. This happens if you've relinked to the wrong file.
      An unliked file also shows as a ? icon in the Project bin and a "Media Offline" large red preview in the Program Monitor.

    here's a weird problem....i have premiere pro 2020 and if i try to import any mp4 file that has already been used in a project in my previous version of PP (CS5) it will not let me import the file (error received is "The file has an unsupported compression type). It will allow other mp4 files, even ones filmed with the same camera, but as soon as they have been used at least once in a CS5 project, I can no longer import them into 2020 PP. Tried renaming the files, changing their location - all to no avail. I did a test where i imported a freshly recorded mp4 file into PP2020 and it imported properly. Closed out of 2020 without saving, then i tried importing the same file into CS5 PP and that also worked. I Saved the CS5 project, closed it, then once again tried importing the file into 2020 PP - and this time it does not work!! So there is definitely something going on that once a file has been used in CS5, it can never be used in 2020PP. I doesn't make any sense to me, and was wondering if anyone has a solution to this? (Note i have tried uninstalling/reinstalling just one and also both versions, and makes no difference).

      Audio channels can be mono, stereo, adaptive or 5.1. Your Proxies audio channels do not match the original media.

      The only reason this may be happening is that the location of the files are changing. Are you on Windows with dynamically assigned drive letters? You can force your media drive to always use the same letter. Other than that, I'm not sure what's happening.

      I did that. I understand I can link media one file at a time but it take much longer and I miss having the pop up window that prompted me with the exact file to locate and it would find all the media at once. I still get the pop up window minus the indication of which file to locate.

    It seems to get lost. It tells me a lot of intuitive things, but doesn't get to my problem. I didn't migrate my project - I created a set of 'temporary folders', and based my project on them. The project is now completed and I want it to point at my 'permanent folders'. I carried out the re-linking and it seemed easy. Then I renamed my 'temporary folders' to ensure that I could delete them. I can't, because the project is still pointing at them. This article doesn't help me to shake them off.

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  4 года назад

      Quit Premiere Pro before deleting folders on the desktop.
      Premiere Pro does not know you renamed the folders so it's still connected to them. If you quit Premier Pro, then the folders are free to delete. This is not a Premiere Pro problem, it's just how your operating systems works.

    When attempting to export, I get unknown error, which i believe ive narrow down to the r3d files in the timeline that have gone offline, when i attempt to relink them, after locating them without a problem, pp says that it is damaged or unsupported file. How can I relink my r3d files? , its super frustrating!

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  8 лет назад

      +Rob Watt - I've found that this happens when the importer in Premiere Pro is fighting with another importer in the system. Holding Opt + Shift (Mac) Alt + Shift (Win) when launching Premiere Pro, can clean this up.
      If that fails, have a look for any other video codecs/apps/drivers that may be running that are cause the problem. Even if you didn't install anything recently, sometimes the stuff you have, just begins to cause the problem.
      If you still can't get it to work, I have a Premiere Pro cleaner script that completely removes all traces of Premiere Pro, then you do a reinstall of Premiere Pro and all is normal. I haven't had to use it for quite some time but if you want to try it contact me here: videorevealed.com/contact.html
      NOTE: This script removes any effects presets, workspaces, keyboard shortcuts, etc. so backup all that stuff.

      This isn't the standard relink process, ive been through that a bunch, but this is something very wierd.
      I've used pp for years now, and Ive never encountered this before. What i've resorted to, is using the media browser within pp, to replace all the r3d files that have gone rogue. It appears that the r3d files that were affected were the ones that were not placed in the timeline. Thanks for the insight! I'll check back in if the error persists

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  7 лет назад

      Sometimes, if you have changed the original PSD (adding a layer for example) Premiere Pro has trouble updating to the latest changes. You might want to try to Right-click and "Make Offline", then try Relinking. If that doesn't work for me then I just Save As, a new PSD in Photoshop and (Right-click) Replace that file in Premiere Pro. That works if you have only a couple PSDs but if you have many, that's a headache.
      Lastly, you can try to Quit Premiere Pro and move the original PSDs into a new folder so that Premiere Pro will give you an error when loading the Project. If you Relink at that time, picking the first PSD might relink correctly to all the rest.

      By "renders" I assume you mean rendered previews? You can't count on previews handing around all the time so just re-render. But you don't have to render the Timeline, you should be able to play it back in real-time without rendering.
      For the black video, I'd say the second computer is missing a video codec that the first computer has and you need to install it.

When i try load a project, i get a "locating media" prompt and it sends me to my finder folder to find missing media... my issue is that it no longer show me which file it wants me to locate... it used to say "where is?" and i would simply find the file and cs6 would find all the necessary files... any idea how to fix this? • @vancityvideos
      @vancityvideos 6 лет назад

      I like using cs6 and could not get used to cc. When I relink my files, save and reopen, it sill sais "loading project" and then says "locating media" and sends me to my finder tab with all my folders and files. It is at this stage where it wants me to locate missing media but fails to ask me which files to locate. In the past, whenever I moved files etc. the same process would take place except it would always prompt me with the file it wanted me to find. I would simply locate the file and everything would be fine. thank you for responding to my issue, it is very frustrating. I contacted the people at Adobe and they were unable to help me.

    • @VideoRevealed
      @VideoRevealed  6 лет назад

      Check to see if the issue is with the Project or with Premiere Pro:
      1. Create a new Project.
      2. Import a few clips (different from the ones you've been testing).
      3. Save the Project and Quit Premiere Pro.
      4. Launch Premiere Pro and open the saved Project you just created.
      If the links are broken, then I would say there's something wrong with your disk and/or permissions because there's no way that should be happening in any version of Premiere Pro.
      If the links work in this new Project, then there's something wrong with the other Project(s) and they need to be fixed. You might fix them by Importing them into a another new Project and saving them under a new name.

    • @vancityvideos
      @vancityvideos 6 лет назад

      ok i will try that. I am thinking if I start a new project it will then recognize where all the files are and will not need to locate media. I guess I am more concerned if the issue at hand happens again in the future, rather than locate the media quickly as I should, I will have to go through creating a new project every time?

    • @vancityvideos
      @vancityvideos 6 лет назад

      I am almost certain the reason my links are broken is because I have moved files around or changed the names of folders. I am just confused as to why its not prompting me with the the file(s) it wants me to locate so that all my file can be relinked within the project.
