  • Earlier in our trip our Wagon Masters announced that the campground that was originally booked for our stay in Stewart had closed unexpectedly, and we would instead be boondocking in a large, empty, gravel lot. We didn't know what to expect but were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. We had a fabulous view of a mountain waterfall directly in front of us and a beach only yards away. It turned out to be one of our favorite camping locations on this trip.
When you hear the word "Alaska" one of the first images that pop into your head are bears. And one of the best opportunities to view bears in Alaska is in Hyder, along Fish Creek. In this video you'll see the bear viewing was a little disappointing. However, we did get a close look at one large black bear as it made its way down stream.
You'll also see that I had some difficulty crossing the border after an unsuccessful, early morning, bear viewing trip. Lynn had used the ArriveCAN app on her phone the previous night, to schedule my crossing the next morning. However, when I got to the Canadian border, the agent said her attempt was unsuccessful. They detained me for over an hour as they tried contacting Lynn so she could travel to the border and complete the process. With some help from Tommy & Ron, Lynn arrived at the border to bail me out.
We took a Jeep ride with our friends Dave & Dianne, up a mountain to get a close look at Salmon Glacier and some mining operations. The views were spectacular!
There are only four more stops on this "Once in a Lifetime Journey" as we make our way to our final destination in Ferndale, Washington.
    THANKS FOR WATCHING!
