Hi. Thanks for doing these videos. I would just like to add that the biggest and most important reward/ learning tool is the release. Pressure (asking), Release (reward/correct answer. ) good timing in release. I think that’s the best reward in most training. Of course treats too! :)
My sweet horse is so gate sour. I tend to ride him after work when all other of his friends are in for the night. He’s much better in the day when riding in arena when he can see his friends in the paddocks next to the outdoor arena. I just can’t get to farm midday to ride. Before I purchased him he was a pack horse in Montana so he’s very insecure on his own but also when a buddy comes in the arena he wants to be right next to him because he’s used to be tied next to another horse. Which can also be a problem. I wish he could just trust me as a leader and feel confident. I am also 54 and just started riding two years ago. I worked very hard at feeling confident and take lessons a lot I have much to learn but I also feel I’m so I’ve grown a lot in my skills. He’s the sweetest boy but he definitely has a lot of anxiety about being alone without his herd. It’s just scary when he all of the sudden bolts for the gate and doesn’t give me any warning we will be riding doing some poles /walk trot fun Exercises and suddenly he remembers the gate and his friends at barn and he takes off Right to gate. It’s almost impossible to redirect him back to our exercises. My trainer can hop on and redirect him but he is slightly agitated after that and when I get back on he knows he’s got my number😂 ugh 🤦♀️ i’ve had him for nine months and I know we have a lifetime to work on these behaviors I’m in no rush but it is becoming unpleasant because it’s getting scary for me and him when he starts to act up he’s not mean his brain is just telling him he needs to be with his friends. Any advice Would be greatly appreciated
I been riding this one horse named dun I'm a new rider the other day when riding he wasn't listening to commands and trying to go when not asked or run when not asked, even if the other horse were walking he would wanna push throw and run.I been riding him for a while and sometimes he haves these fits and then others he is awesome and is great... The last fit he had we put a bit in (he loves his holster we take it off when he doesn't listen to commands) he started doing the same running when not asked and something new he started trying to buck me off!! He would mix it around so I was uneasy he would start running then stop and start bucking before he runs off again even tho it is just little ways he goes he still does it I have almost fallen off a couple of times.... What could be making him so frustrated at time but so good others(we us the same tack on him I make sure to try my best to make his rides enjoyable)
When I was 12 my uncle had curly horses that were green, he put me on it with just a saddle blanket and reins, the horse kept pulling off to eat instead of walking up to the house (huge log driveway on 40 acres) and it bucked until I slipped down his neck . That was frightening
When out for a ride my horse continually bends down to eat grass or sniff horse manure which is frustrating and unsafe as her head dipping sometimes unbalances me and I feel as though I am constantly pulling the reigns, we have four horses and she is the only one that does this, also in the same ride she bucks when we go into canter or gallop which again makes me sometimes lose my balance. I hope you can help, I love your videos really helpful
My horse is in a paddock away from buddies due to laminitis but he has become aggressive, chasing me out of yard and turning his but threatening to kick me. It has been torrential rain the last few days. He's cold and miserable but it's not safe to put a rug on him while he's in this heightened state. He has to stay there another week. Help
I'm new to my horse, and he and every other horse at his barn pull really hard to try to eat grass when they are being lead. I think this is an overall leadership issue on my part, but to put it into one of your categories I think he has more interest in food than he does the person he's with.
I had an issue with a horse I rode, not my own though. We were in a parade and my horse didn't like the persons horse behind her. She put her ears back and kinda lifted her leg like saying don't pass me. I was probably stress and she had an issue with the other horse. The horses were both mares
what to do if the horse kicks towards man? not just simply in the air but to show dominance if she doesn't like what's expected of her.. for example feed control or giving away rareside. she does also kick other horses when they go together to drink some water or when she's got food and other horses are just passing by, not even interested in taking her food away.

Love your training guidance . Do you have any additional information on correct saddle fitting and how is effect behavior ?

I am thinking of buying a horse as a pet
The 3 factors that cause bad behavior in my pony:
1.Spoiled
2. Spoiled
3. He’s a bloody coward
It is not the horse's fault. It is the human's.
Nipping. The behaviour Comes and goes. Wont do it for weeks then bam she will do it and then i may never see it again for several weeks.
What happens before the nipping, is it aggressive or just mouthy
