After reading the comments I noticed alot of question about the mounted skeletons. Most of the exotic posed mounts are hollow core resin casts. Quality research casts are used for study by museums and universities simply because many specimens are unique or extremely rare. The mounts found in museums generally are real bone but are only between 40 to 70% complete in most cases. Many museums are now using casts for display and archiving the actual bone in their field labs for study. The restorations of these fossils are generally not to deceive they are cast from the most complete examples. Casts are not fakes but are actually designed to educate the public, when a dealer tries to sell a specimen that's heavily restored or a cast they should provide that clearly on their labels. If not ask or walk away. Most reputable dealers will provide that information. Many specimens come from countries that have strick law regarding their ownership. Getting into this hobby requires a great deal of study and finding reliable associations that can help you is critical. The market has been driven by wealthy enthusiasts that purchase large spectacular pieces for their home decor. Fossils greatest value is the scientific information they provide.
