Hmmm I wonder if its the homeless openly using the bathroom on your porch or junkies shooting up next to your car?? My wife and I live in Sacramento and we avoid San Francisco at all costs. Its getting bad in Sacramento too though we are the next san Fran....
Lol wait 5 years if that. All these mil plus homes even 800k are going to be worth nothing there will rents of homeless in the front yard. Cali is fucked
41 years in the real estate business here. Want to know when the bubble will burst? When financing starts to go into low teaser interest rates you’ve got about 6 months before defaults start happening large scale and available purchase money from lenders dries up.
Jean francis Cabral Well, the people in California are pretty Blakey. They want to hold on to the 60’s forever. That and the droves of perfectly able homeless people who just sit on the street shooting heroine and begging for money that the could easily earn if they got clean an a job.
So the person they talk to about decreasing home sales is a renter?! Hate to tell you lady, but renters are part of the problem. You want to see that a neighborhood is on it’s way down, watch for “ for rent “ signs to start popping up.
Buffy smith always ask a real estate broker if prices are going to go up.. They will certainly not talk up their own book up or lie.. Real estate is a market segment globally regarded for literally more than 1000 years for its profound honesty, fairness and forthrightness.. I mean considering the Asian population in SF you would think more people would be aware of idk the eventual actions against landlords due to arbitrary, flippantly caused affordability issues and artificial supply constraints in practically every revolution/etc in history. Mao Zedong anybody? I guess realtors are getting a little suicidal considering that this is a highly publicized national problem overtly extremely negatively impacting especially an entire generation of millennials in the US and in some major urban centers globally. Wages haven’t kept pace even for senior managers by some reports from even top recruiting firms. Housing is just basically 4 walls and a roof guys. Same technology that’s been around for thousands of years in many senses. It isn’t worth it. You’ve got people working 3+ jobs and in debt just to still not be able to afford to pay rent for a studio or not even. I would be surprised if some of these people don’t start directing their frustration violently towards landlords/certain under compensating and or non meritocratic employers/higher level employees of grocers/food companies/etc. at more scale soon considering the data is clearly showing pricing at historically destabilizing levels compared to income in many locations. It’s better even for the wealthiest to have utility dollar improvements than just arbitrary inflation from revenue circle jerk. The largest REIT in the us isn’t even like ~10% of just alphabets market cap. Real estate mispricing is probably costing just a few larger co combined $50 bil in a quarter. Get vertical partnerships, potentially net make more money that can do more useful things and improve everybody’s quality of living. The market is basically screaming that.
I'm considering starting a business that hires professional junkies to set up camp in places before you rent them to drive the prices down. Prospective buyers will pay a pretty penny for our junkies but they'll save way more on the sale, plus our junkies will get off the streets quickly after their windfall. I expect a high turnover rate. Also toying with the idea of seeing how many houses on a block would be willing to hang confederate flags for $500. I'm guessing a lot. Get a whole street to do it and that'll drive prices down quick.
I always love the argument of living at this one house for X amount in this location or living at another house for half of that in another location. Just use that same argument and use it in your current situation and why none of us are living in Syria. I know the comparison are dramatic but the logic is the same. Location is the majority of the value of house and not the house itself. We could argue about the insanity of the housing game but stop making comparison that doesn’t compare the true value of the home - the location.
@Gabe F No. Find me a cheap place in California and I'll find you a comparable place in another state that is cheaper. The affordable housing in California is in shit holes. I know this because I'm a native Californian who was born there in 1963 and moved out last year. The price I paid for this house out of California would only buy half the house in a shitty little town in California. You must not live in California; I don't know why people like you (who don't know anything about the state) defend it.
James Allen relax old man...Gabe F has a point. You don’t have to worry about it anymore anyways. You left California so just enjoy whatever state you moved too. 👍
We need to vote out shitty democrates i mean yea their better than republicans but they arent doing their job because tgeir unopposed and dont try to do a good job
I moved away from.SF in 1991 and have only been to visit one time since then. There is nothing attractive or in the slightest desirable to bring me all the way back to that hellhole of a city.
>San Francisco, California has the highest per capita concentration of Chinese Americans of any major city in the United States, at an estimated 21.4%, or 172,181 people (2010) and contains the second-largest total number of Chinese Americans of any U.S. city. When I moved to SF, some people told me that SF real estate was expensive because many rich Chinese bought second houses for renting out. Now, they are selling the second house?

The problem is all the rich Chinese nationals coming over and buying Cali property with cash. They’ll drop 1-2 million dollars on a house and not live in it; which of course jacks up all the property values. Then you have the young millionaire techies to compete with.... When property value goes up, so does the rent. These are Cali problems.
This city is a ticking time bomb. The fact that people in the comments are blaming the poor, the homeless, everyone but the 1% and billion dollar tech companies is mind-boggling to me. Honestly if all these homeowners get beheaded by the working class people they've displaced, it would be well-warranted. The lack of compassion for the poor and working class can only be counteracted by these million dollar homes being burned to the ground.
Nah, that place is too hot. It’ll never really cool off. The people there make so much money working in tech. Any sort of price break and people would jump at it.
Hope it drops even lower so people can afford to buy a house. And hopefully the rents will also drop by a significant amount. California needs affordable housing. ASAP!!
