  • Approx. 16 mile loop located near Keene Valley, New York
    - We hiked up to 4,173-foot Lower Wolfjaw via the Deer Brook Trail off of Route 73. Descended then camped overnight off trail near Johns Brook Lodge. Day 2 we packed up and continued onward to 4,173-foot Upper Wolfjaw. The hike up to Upper Wolfjaw was a lot of fun - lots of crevices to climb and some steep rock faces. We then continued onward to 4,400-foot Armstrong Mountain which had a few nice steep rock climbs including a ladder section. Really beautiful views from the summits of both Upper Wolfjaw and Armstrong. We headed back down towards Beaver Falls which had a series of ladders and a section of ridge-line hike that offered more fabulous views. Beaver Falls was spectacular with a refreshing mist to cool us down. We then continued onward to Lake Road through the Adirondack Mountain Reserve and past the Ausable Club back to Route 73, making the last couple miles out a fairly easy road hike. Lots of elevation. Lots of mud and bugs! Highly recommend this hike :)

Thank you so much for this video. I have wanted to do Armstrong but had some concerns regarding the ladder because I only hike if my dog can be with me. I have never seen an actual video of the ladder until now. My dog easily climbed down and up the ladder at Colden Lake, but that was several years ago.

Thank you for sharing this video. Would you hike the same trail if you were to hike Lower Wolfjaw again? I am hoping to hike it this weekend depending on the weather.
