Its funny how people think its hard to do long adventures with a 125cc those people probably like to arrive at their destination quickly but they dont realise that its an adventure not a race, youre supposed to discover places you never saw before, people travel around the world with a normal bicycle or even on foot, so i just think that this 125cc bashing is bullshit, you mate are awesome keep this stuff up and dont stop, it doesnt matter what kind of vehicle you use for something you want to do.

I totally agree. I traveled from Montreal, Canada to Los Angeles on a 125cc scooter. 6000 km in 18 days. It was a dream since I was a child. I went to Indianapolis, Memphis, Dallas, EL Paso, Tucson, Phoenix, Los Angeles.....and all the small cities in between.....all small roads.....the best road trip ever....Now planning Montreal to Costa Rica...... slowly means taking time to see things

Wow ! Big respect for this dude! I admire the adventure. People talking about 125cc are just people with a complex. This is a life experience and not a race! And who cares you can drive 140 km/h while anyways most of the village roads are limited between from 70 to 100 max (when you can)...! Plus there is nothing to discover and enjoy when you are on high speed. Big respect for this guy and let me know if u would like someone to join you for a new adventure . Here in Pakistan...we have so many mountains in 7000-8000 m range that authorities have even stopped naming them...we have some of the toughest terrains and roads...europe on the other hand has its highest peak at only 5600 m..and roads are way better..yet still in Pakistan people tour mostly on 125cc-150cc bikes and I have even seen people touring on 70cc mopeds with huge luggage...its the 'heart' that matters

Heart, but also budget and roads. A lighter, smaller bike will do much better in terrain like Pakistan, it's more simple to fix by yourself, and if that's what the average person is riding - that's what you'll ride. I tried my share of "small-displacement touring" when I rented a 125 to ride 1100 km in England and Wales - the biggest issue wasn't the bike, but the traffic around it that was going much faster, making you the slowest vehicle on the road, causing traffic behind you up mountains as you creep up steep hills going full throttle at 50 kph. A 250-300cc bike would've made a world of difference.
Different horses for different courses, I suppose.

Marcus Follosco It really depends on the needs. If you're going to eastern Europe or Asia/Africa where many roads aren't well build then yes, a 125-250cc will do (preferably a dual-sport). In western countries with higher speed limits and better roads you're better off AT LEAST on a 250 that can handle the speed limit without holding anyone behind you.

@Brent J. Cooper - NO. The dogs aim for the "moving target". They honestly don't give a sh_t about the bike specs! LOL :-)

Thank you for posting this! I am dreaming about adventure biking and I had the same idea of buying a smaller bike. But have zero experience and have yet to get my licence. I am so uncertain of which bike to invest in. SYM is fairly big in my country but I am unsure of what my ownership experience would be like.
