My mother and step dad both loved this song.....I still hear it in my sleep and I saw both of them dance to it more than once. They have both passed on, but this song brings them back......when they were younger and soooo in love ......

I love reading these reactions. I feel the same way! Memories of my father who passed away 6 years ago, Dutch radio station Veronica who used this tune for years. I can listen to it for hours, it is not getting boring at all. Masterpiece! And it is the sound of Summer!
Yep, Summer in the Netherlands in the 80s. I was there man.. Going in a Zodiac with outboard as a kid through the canals on a Summer's night, watching the German tourists on their rented yachts with mega-pints of beer. The world was alive back then, so innocent compared to now. Too depressing for words.

My dad used to play that song on the accordion. I just love this masterpiece of music. So many layers and such a soothing tune!!! Just hearing it sends shivers down my spine and brings tears to my eyes.
When I can't sleep at night, I use to listen to this video on loop mode and dream away. Makes me think of my dad who passed away in 2016. He loved that piece. He love the rolling pattern in it, for the same reason he loved Another brick in the wall (!) and Take Five.

I'm a pretty hardcore dude. But this comment actually made me cry. My dad would put this song on a loop to help me sleep when I was a kid. And he just passed 4 months ago from a long struggle with dementia. You just said all the right words. I'm not like mad...just sad. I miss my dad.

My dad, who passed away 30 years ago, liked James Last orchestra.Their songs were played as intro at my parents wedding.After his death I have listened this one a lot, together with some of ABBA' s songs.
My grandma played this song for us a lot as kids. We all still love it. My grandma is still kicking at 96.

Weird how universal this is: this too reminds me of my father. When in the early 80's this was hit, I guess also due to our popular Dutch tv-channel Veronica that adopted it as a tune, I vividly remember this playing on the car radio as it was parked on the lawn near the beach of the rivers Lek and Nederrijn, near Wijk bij Duurstede. We had just finished packing up the sailing canoe my father bought us, after a day of water fun and eating the sandwiches my mother packed for us, standing in the car door openings as the twilight came on us due to the sun going down, painting beautiful red, orange and yellow colors across the summer sky, mirrored in the water. Meanwhile we were reflecting about the adventures of the day, sailing fast passing even windsurfers who were looking surprised at our odd vessel and almost getting trapped in the strong currents where rivers met when we went a bit too far out of the bay. Luckily we made it out and continued. The day ended with lossing control due toe strong winds that blew us into the high grassy shore reeds, causing the boom to snap. Great fun nevertheless. Also playing on the radio was Mattia Bazar's Ti Sento. It was the time of my Wonder Years and will always remember that time when it was just me and my dad spendig a nice day at the water together. As was just us, nobody else of my family knows about this memory, which makes it even more precious. Miss you dad. 😞

Our accordionist played this all the time. He died suddenly of a heart at age 58. Exactly 3 months later our singer died aged 58 of heart failures... This song just keeps playing and playing in my head and i miss them both so much. Never got to say goodbye to them....

long time ago i used to go skating on the rink in Groningen the Netherlands together with my black friend Bonito this song was played a lot so it works in icy conditions too it must have been around the time the song came out..wonder how he's doing now
