Transformers Devastation is an action hack and slash video game based on the Transformers franchise developed by PlatinumGames and published by Activision. Transformers Devastation is an action game. Players control one of five Autobots: Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Wheeljack, and Grimlock, as they battle against Decepticons and Insecticons who stand in their way. Each of the Autobots are able to use a variety of melee attacks and ranged weapons, and are able to transform into vehicle mode at any time. Similar to Bayonetta, successfully dodging attacks activates Focus, which slows down time around the player, allowing them to counterattack their opponents. Each Autobot also has a unique special ability and a powerful Overdrive attack that can be performed with enough energy. The game consists of seven chapters, which are each split up into several missions, including some optional side-missions. Players are ranked on each mission based on their overall performance. Players can earn credits and gain new weapons by defeating enemies, destroying certain objects, and solving puzzles hidden across each chapter. Credits can be used to purchase new items, moves, and weapons, forge T.E.C.H. to grant passive stat boosts, synthesize weapons to make them stronger, or increase the stats of each Autobot. In New York City, a swarm of Insecticons and giant metal claws emerge from below, wreaking havoc. The Autobots: Optimus Prime, Sideswipe, Bumblebee, Wheeljack, and Grimlock arrive to investigate, battling Megatron and the Constructicons, who form Devastator. Megatron escapes into a hatch leading underground and reveals the attacks are the automatic defenses of the Proudstar, an Autobot ship which crashed on Earth millions of years ago that Megatron now controls, and announces his plans to use the Insecticons to cyberform the Earth, turning it into metal and creating a new Cybertron.

A time machine should be built for the sole purpose of transporting this game back to the mid 80's and thoroughly blowing the mind of every young Transformers fan who craved a game like this, but knew that then-gen gaming technology could never deliver.

It's such a treat for someone like me who grew up watching G1 to see this. Even their voices are authentic. A bit of vindication after the fucking Micheal Bay fiascos.
I agree. However, the first movie doesn't deserve all the hate it gets. Especially when you realize it's this continuity that improved Bumblebee's level of fame and popularity.
Without the first movie, Iron Man may have never existed.

I love this game. I love when Optimus Prime crushes his enemies in his vehicle mode after striking with his hammer, and Bumblebee's lightning fast reflexes and using his vehicle mode twice.

I really hope the Hasbro license gets renewed so people can play these games again. I think it has a better chance of happening since Microsoft finished their acquisition.
They took some inspiration from the G1 episode "City Of Steel" where the Constructicons turned normal cars into remote controlled drone soldiers, hence all the cannon fodder.

I really wish we got this on the Nintendo Switch 😭 it would work so perfectly for a switch port! I mean, Tranformers: Battlegrounds was revealed for the switch so this game should be no problem.
The artwork and voice acting was amazing throughout! I didn't get far in this myself. I think the fighting was a bit repetitive and from what i can remember i got frustrated with the tutorial. Anyway still loved being able to play a game exactly like the cartoon i loved as a kid. Still hope a sequel is done with the same artwork and voice actors. The original movie storyline would be dope or any story that incorporates Unicorn. These devs need to make Voltron and Avatar the last Airbender games.

I would’ve loved to play as Hot Rod in this game. Optimus is my fav but Hot Rod’s design by far is my fav Transformer. No other Transformer is even close.
This is how I imagined a TF game should look like. But the kids haven't seen G1, they only know the movies so I guess this is a rare treat.

Wasn't really interested in this game when it was first revealed but now I think that I might have to try it out.
This is the first game i ever played when i was 9 years old and holyy did it feel good, first on normal difficulty, then on hard, then as a speedrun, i just couldnt stop playinh it!

Megatron? You can stunlock and destroy him the first time you fight with BUMBLEBEE, and that's more because Bumblebee can continuously do his vehicle attacks if you know how
I main Optimus. He's the strongest character in my opinion.
I love Sideswipe, his dash is perfect for just unending attacks.
