One of the best to use for looks is Mame with HLSL Effects it does take effort to setup and its not the most compatible for Genesis games, but it beats the older emulators for the feel and look of the game with a more real CRT look
I used Gens for ages but it struggled a lot with modern machines. Kega Fusion works like a charm, nearly perfect, can't praise this emulator high enough.
Used to swear by Gens as a kid. Last updated 17 years ago! Thanks for the roundup. Pleased to see that Gens still works and I learned about some new options. Seems that RetroArch and OpenEmu have consolidated the community development efforts.
question! i made save states for a RPG game and everytime I shut off my computer come back to Gens the save file... that I stored in three separate places do not exist anymore. the in game save does not exist (thus the back up save files) :( the game is Shadowrun for the Sega. any idea what I'm doing wrong with life :(?
RetroArch isn't even an emulator, it's just a front end that is loaded with emulators. So far the five best emulators I had been using for Genesis games are Kega Fusion, Gens, PicoDrive, PocketGen, and Firecore.
Gens;; cant press down foward for pc controlles or ps4 kega fusion do not save games that have a save build in like sonic 3 ,or the delta series, the same just megaman will war
not when it comes to subzero slide in mortal kombat 2 using multiple buttons pushed at once. It just kill joyed my experience and now i'm stuck pondering wth to do now since retroarch seems to only favor blastem and I don't know how to add another one thats not in the core list.
@how to nerd Have you had any trouble with blastem that retroarch uses? Playing mortal kombat 2 and using sub zero the slide just doesn't work. Back key + lp+lk+block does not work with blastem.
My Kega Fusion keeps bugging out. I get a tab but no window. Have to delete the .ini file and reset all settings to how I like them. It then happens again!
Is there any Sega Genesis emulator for Windows where the audio can be edited in pitch like atgames? If not I'll be disappointed :( I just want to play Sega Genesis games with high pitch with lower dac audio
You can't find a simple clean honest download for these emulators anymore. Everything is a trap to download 3 other things you don't want like winzip and whatever else.
@@SoniXel_X everyone should have winzip? it's not 1997 anymore. if you mean winrar, it's not 2007 anymore either. windows has had zip support built in for over a decade, and 7zip and peazip are open source and dont nag you to buy a license. OP is also talking about malicious ads, not legitimate downloads.
Disappointed! I tried running several emulators on my Ryzen gaming laptop with windows 11 and most of them stutter frequently ESPECIALLY KEGA FUSION (I own a Mega Drive with several games too, I just wanted to try the convenience of a gaming PC
Nice, I'm gonna go with the Kega Fusion
This guy just gets better with time. Your always appreciated Bro! 👍🏽
Thank you

Maybe I'm spoiled with my NES and SNES emulators, but I just wish Kega Fusion had a rewind feature. Also, save states barely work.
I will use Retroarch since it gets an update once in a while. I tested it and it runs fine.

OpenEmu - mac only, for anyone watching. Useful vid though, thanks!

Kenga fusion is good, I like the Sega Genesis Music.

I've had gens since like forever. It's my go to. At least when I played emulators.

no fucking around, just a great simple vid
Where do you get gens and the games? Also does it work with a controller? Is there a controller for pc?
I’m using an old one called ReGen that won’t save anything. The save states don’t work nor do the in-game save files.
Which would be best for modding
Fusion is my favorite but it doesn't play the Ultimate Mortal Kombat Trilogy hack. So I just use Gens+ but it doesn't seem to work with OBS
bro i have flashbacks to my old computer it fried it omg nah i hate retro arch
What about BlastEm? Thats most cycle accurate emulator for the Mega Drive/Genesis

Genesis Plus GX to Retroarch and Kega Fusion 3.63.
Hey, which game were you playing during kega fusion? thanks!
It's called Comix Zone.

But where you can get them?
How the hell are you just going to retitle something you uploaded in 2023 and pass it off in as if it were a video in 2024
