I think that the people who say that Caitlin's singing is bland are comparing her to to Kimiko, so they expect more, since Kimiko performed the character with a lot of emotion
I think people are ignoring the fact that she's not singing the song in a broadway theatre here; it's a smaller setting, so she adjusted her voice and volume to suit the location.
remember that these actors work eight times a week. press conferences like this aren't their priority. they conserve their voices for the stage performance. that's why you'll see that their tv performances are not that energetic.
